CHAPTER 2—Paid Already

Chapter 2—Paid Already

Rock's Point of View

"Are you sure you want to face Connor's adopted daughter now?" Matilde asked me. She just got over what I asked.

I was just standing in front of the big glass wall where I could see the swimming pool outside. My hands got inside my pants.

"Rock?" Matilde called me.

I bent down and took a deep breath. I glanced at her and saw the worry on her face. I nodded slightly. "Yes." After I said that, I faced my table and sat on the swivel chair.

"You don't have a meeting schedule with her.

"Matilde, who pays you?"

She stopped and bowed. "I'm sorry, Rock. I was just worried about you."

I leaned back in my seat and closed my eyes. "You have nothing to worry about. Everything is under control."

"But what other lycans tell you, you don't control. They have minds of their own, Rock."

"Matilde, they can't do anything. I am the Lycan King of the Redwood here in Luciana. If they don't agree to what I want, it's best to kick them out of here. You know what I mean."

"I don't agree with Connor's suggestion. Why did you agree? Just give them enough time to pay you back. That's possible, right?" she asked.

"That's possible, of course." I looked at the paper in front of me that Uncle Connor and I both signed. "But his offer is better." I held the contract.

"Rock, what's good about your agreement? He hasn't even been paid for his debt to you; you even gave him a large amount of money. He sold his daughter to you."

"Matilde, you know that I need an heir to everything I have now. And I don't care about my money. The amount I gave Connor will also come back. The important thing is that my heir will have a mother."

"Yes, Rock, but you don't need a she-wolf to have a family. You can find and choose from our kind. I know some people—"

I raised the contract. "My future child has a mother, Matilde."

"You're stubborn, Rock. Aren't you afraid of Connor? How many times have I told you about that uncle of yours?

"It's not Uncle that I'm going to hang out with. It's his adopted daughter—Raffi."

The way she looked at me, it seemed like she couldn't believe my decision. It's okay, and I don't care. She will follow, and they can't do anything.

"Why do I have a strong feeling that you know this adopted child of Connor?"

I turned to her. "What do you mean, Matilde?"

"Raffi only came here once, and she was young then. You didn't meet then, did you?"

I shook my head. "Yes."

"Well, why do you seem to like her?"

I laughed. "Are you joking?"

Matilde shook her head. "Rock, whatever your plan is, I'll support you because I treat you like a child. But when you get into trouble with that girl, don't say I didn't warn you, okay?"

I took a deep breath and looked at her seriously. "I don't need your concern, Matilde. Go back to your work. I have a lot to take care of."

Matilde was stunned for a moment but also bowed after a while. "Okay, Rock."

"When Raffi arrives, bring her here. I want to see her right away."

"Okay, Rock," she said before turning and leaving me inside the office.

I looked again at the paper I was holding. I don't even understand myself. Uncle Connor's adopted child has a different attraction to me even though I only saw her in the picture. I moved to open the drawer. I took the picture that Uncle dropped when I sent it here.

Matilde said it was true that even though Uncle Connor had not been paid, I still gave him a large amount of money. I know that Uncle is very addicted to gambling. He needs money to pay his creditors. He doesn't just owe me. It's just a coincidence that the amount he owes me is bigger, but there is more.

And it's also true that this is the one who offered me that he would just make his adopted daughter pay...

"I don't know where I'm going to get what I'm going to pay you, Rock, Uncle Connor said tearfully, but I don't know how to feel sorry.

I was just looking at him while he was kneeling in front of my table. I was sitting squarely and looking at him.

"So how is your debt to my family? The profit and interest are increasing every day you breathe."

Uncle Connor met my eyes. He stood up and held the table. "R-Rock, if you want, I'll just pay you. My daughter—Raffi—she will be my payment to you. That's a nice idea, right? Even nicer!"

I frowned. "You will give me your adopted daughter as the payment?"

He nodded one after the other. "Yeah! If you agree!"

"But she's just a she-wolf, uncle. Do you know how insulted I am right now by what you want to happen?"

His eyes widened. "You're not going to marry her. Why don't you just adopt her? Or make her a slave in bed? You know, that daughter of mine is beautiful.

I laughed softly. "Are you worse than me?" I grinned.

"I-it's not—"

I sat up and put my arms on the table. I clasped my hands as I propped my elbows there. "But you know what? That's a good suggestion."

Uncle Connor's face lit up. "O-oh, right? I told you. I'm sure you'll like Raffi. Also, she's never had a boyfriend, so I know my daughter is clean."

I just looked at him. I was secretly happy with what he said, but I didn't show it. I kept looking directly at him. After a while, I took out a piece of paper and handed it to him.

"What am I supposed to do here?"

"Write there that as payment for all your debt to Redwood, you will sell me your daughter, Raffi."

"Oh, okay, Rock!"

"And so you don't change your mind..." I also took the check book and wrote the price there. "Maybe you won't change your mind, and you will convince your daughter to agree to our agreement."

Uncle Connor's eyes widened, and he had a wide smile on his lips. "Yeah, Rock! I'll take care of my daughter. She'll follow me. That's a promise!"

I just nodded in response.
