I watched him for few seconds; he was quietly looking at me intensely. I shuddered under his gaze, I must admit that he was a handsome man, any woman can be attracted by his charm. I was no different, the mate bond was pulling me towards him, but I had no intention of going after another mate.

I have a purpose in my life and must fulfill it. I glanced at him and turned to leave, when he stopped me, grabbing my wrist.

‘I am not rejecting you Savannah and won’t let you do this as well. We are mates and we will accept each other, there is no other option’ his voice firm, I shook my head, refusing him.

‘You can’t force me.’ I wriggled my wrist, but he tightened his hold, his brows knitted, expressing how annoyed he was with my words.

‘I don’t want to. I am asking you to think rationally, I understand your problems and concerns but just answer me, rejecting me will solve all of your problems?’

‘They won’t, but I don’t want to put any more burden on myself. Accepting you as mate will put everything around me on fire and will burn me up’ I don’t understand why he was making fuss out of it. He already has a woman he could choose as a mate and was here to do that, he should proceed with it why was pestering me to accept him, when I have clearly told him my all issues. We should part our ways, and he must go on to meet that woman.

‘I have told you about Albert, he won’t let me live in peace until I hand over the pack to him. I don’t want to give him another stronger reason; he is at war with me and I won’t let him win’

‘You don’t know what you will do once you enter the council room and face all those old jerks, they will shush you and in a blink of your eye they will take the authority from you and will transfer to that Albert. You are empty handed right now, have no proof nor have any plan to reveal the truth, showing ugly face of Albert to them. How will you defeat him? Right now, you are the one losing’ I hissed at his brutal evaluation, he doesn’t have to be so harsh.

‘Steven is here with me to help’ his eyes squinted.

‘Steven? The one who was arguing with me?’ I nodded, avoiding his gaze.

‘I doubt he can help you’ he muttered and I couldn’t keep myself calm.

‘How could you say that?’ I snapped at him. What does he think of himself? According to him only he is smart and wise, and we are all fool and incompetent.

‘Because I know these council people and you don’t’ I snorted.

‘Yeah right. Look whose talking. You couldn’t keep yourself save from their influence and have the audacity to judge and discourage me’ I realized that talking to him is waste of the time, I must go inside and wait for the hearing.

‘My case is different.’ He yelled and I nodded my head in understanding.

‘Our cases are different, that’s what I am telling you from beginning’ he rolled his eyes, groaning and mumbling something under his breath, I furrowed at his act, when he fixed his gaze again on me.

‘How about we make a deal’ I gave him a baffled look, what was he up to now.

‘What deal?’

‘How about I join you in the hearing and help you buy the time from council to prove your innocence and not let them jumping on decision and punishing you, also I can help you in running your pack, smoothly, Albert won’t cause any issue. This will give you ample time to collect the evidence to prove yourself and Albert’s wrongdoing saving you and your pack for lifetime.’ My eyes widened and I quietly observed him.

I understand that he was Alpha and they have good relations with council members which can come handy when they need to use it, however, no Alpha is so strong to influence council’s decision and seeing how he was pushed to choose the mate and he was helpless in this matter, I couldn’t stop but take it as a bluffing.

‘And what if you failed in it?’ I recalled that he was offering me a deal; I am confident he won’t be able to achieve any of that he has mentioned, but what will I get in return if he fails, interested me.

‘I will reject you and you can do the same and we will not see each other after that’ I sighed and watched him, he looks serious, no hint of joking or playing.

‘You sure? Because I doubt that you will be able to convince those old people in room’ I reminded him that there is no going back from here, he won’t pester me anymore on this bond and he promised me that he won’t force me to accept him.

I pressed my lips, tapping my foot on the ground, giving it a thought.

‘Fine, I agree, deal’ I extended my hand, I gave it a good thought, and I am confident that he would lose, as there was nothing to lose from my side, I gladly gave in’

‘Great! Let’s go inside then’ He seems too convinced and relax, I was stunned for a moment that what made him stay so relax and calm, even he smirked when I tried to put some sense into him that these old man’s aren’t easy to be convinced, as if he was quietly making fun of them. I jerked off my thoughts and followed him, entering the hall I spotted Steven who was coming towards the door, he stopped and sighed once he saw me coming in.

‘Luna, hearing is about to start, I was coming to call you’ he eyed the man and glanced at me, I nodded.

‘Steven, please sit down, I will accompany your Luna inside’ he glared at him, annoyance evident from his eyes.

‘We don’t need any help Mr.’ I raised my hand to stop him. I have made a deal; this was my chance to get rid of this mate bond.

‘Steven, let him join me. You can wait here’ I had made up my mind, upon his failure, how I have to lead my case in front of them.

‘But Luna!’ Steven didn’t want to leave me alone, I motioned him to relax and sit down, I will be fine when the same receptionist we talked to come out from one of the room.

‘Ms. Savannah Ritland, please come’ receptionist made the announcement and I inhaled a deep breath, glanced at the tall man beside me and quietly walked towards the room, I could here the muffled voices coming out and fidgeted my hand in nervousness.
