Alexis's POV

Nortia was taking longer than I had expected she would take, I was tempted to walk out and search for her especially with Maxwell out of here and I didn't know what he would be doing right now.

He might be with her but I didn't want to believe he would hurt her, I trusted Nortia but it was him who I didn't trust. I didn't know what he was capable of doing and I really wanted to believe that he would heed my warning, the first one I had given him.

“ You know both of our companies work perfectly together, before the ruckus of course, which was all my fault and I am sorry for that” her uncle said.

I nodded at what he had just said, listening but barely even as all of my focus was on the tiny curve which Nortia had walked through a minute ago.

“It's fine. You have apologized countless times already and I hold nothing against you”

He beamed, making gestures at the maids who walked in with a bucket of ice and a wine dipped in the midst of it.

“ I hope you will take this a

Alexis's POV “ What happened?” Nortia wanted to know when I stepped out, the house forgotten behind us. I didn't want to bring up the talk that they had given Samantha to me, for a start, it was mainly because I didn't know how she was going to feel about it and it would be best if I didn't. Also, it was going to prolong talks and when they did, it would be best if I really stayed out of it, I didn't want to hurt her feelings. “ It's nothing,” I explained, taking my position behind the wheel, while still fuming in rage at what I had just heard. I guessed I should be expecting it but I thought they would have some sort of respect for Maxwell as he was in the same space with them and being in the same space as them meant a lot. “Alexis” she called out suddenly, startling me. “ You are driving, if something is wrong then you should talk to me about it, I deserve to know since I brought you here in the first place” I shook my head at her, worried that I had made her feel tense in a

Nortia's POV I wasn't expecting what I had just been told and although it had come as a surprise to me, I knew it was the perfect opportunity I had been waiting for. The one where I would be able to take not just Maxwell, but Samantha down as well. I couldn't help but stop my grin at the thought of how devastated they will be when they find out the truth, that they had both been lying to each other. I was tempted to shed tears on Samantha's behalf because I would make sure they were wedded first before I said a word to either of them. The scorching gaze staring at me had me flicking my head over at Alexis whose eyes had never left mine, instead it burnt with vigor while he looked at me. “ So what is the plan?” I could notice the look on his face which didn't settle well with me so I asked.“ Is there a problem?” There was a scowl etched on his face, one which I knew I had just seen because it wasn't even there in the first place. “ You don't have to worry about it” he tried to ge

Nortia's POV My heart took a dip at what I had just been told as I tried to fathom if I had heard correctly. The man suited his black kept his hands pointed at the black Rolls Royce ushering me toward it “ I am sorry, but I don't know anyone and I am not obligated to go with someone I don't know” I answered, biting on my lips because I knew that was a lie.I knew that it wasn't even that, the man in there has to be Alexis' father because he had called the name, Mr. Williams and it caused chills to run down my spine at what I had just been told.Being unable to fathom what he was asking after me for, because i knew there was no way it would be because he wanted to know me, if he wanted to know about me or needed an introduction, then he would have sent for I and Alexis, but this was about just me because he was here for me. I swallowed, trying to get the lump on my throat back down but it stuck adamantly, passer-by watched but no one was bored to interfere, who would want to do so w

Alexis's POVMy finger came to a halt on the keypad they had been running on at the words I had just been told. “ What did you just say?” I questioned, pulling back the chair to take a look at the guard who was standing in front of me, when she was supposed to be with my wife right now. “ I know I made a vow not to say a word to you about it to you father, but I couldn't keep it to myself, I had to say something”“ My father met with Nortia?”Wasn't that too much and out of it? I hadn't told her about my father not accepting her which was something I had done wrong, but it was too late to have regrets right about now. “ What did he say? What about her? How was her reaction? Is she okay?” My words ran out as I waited to know. “ Is she okay?” “ I think so because on a contrary to what we were expecting, your father stepped out fuming in anger while she had a smile on her face”It was hard to believe that it had happened, that she had left that way, my father was too much for me to

Nortia's POVI didn't know how it had been possible for me to keep my cool but I knew I had done a very good job because I had left with a smile while his face held a poker as I sauntered off. A sigh left my lips while I gazed right outside, I was perplexed in a way because the restaurant that had been chosen was so close to my working place that I had thought about what anyone who knew me would say. I wasn't one who was one to talk, as I kept to myself a lot but even at that, I knew humans and they were always one to talk, I hoped that no one would be able to get a whiff of what had happened, not even Alexis. I wasn't sure if he knew that his father didn't like me, if his father hadn't been vocal with it because what I had just seen had caught me off guard and I wanted to know if he didn't but I just couldn't walk into his office right about now. What would I say if I go in? There would be nothing for me to say and even if I did, it wouldn't make any sense at all. When the car ca

Nortia's POVMy hands held my phone swiping through it while I chuckled at what I had just been told, I guess being stupid ran through her veins and she didn't know what else to do aside poking her nose into what she shouldn't in the first place. “ I can see you have the mouth to talk, I am sure that you wouldn't when Alexis sees this and throw you out of the house”“You think so?” My tone rolled out relaxed, as I plopped down on the chair, appeased at the look on her face. “ I don't think so, I know so”I bobbed my head at the answer she had just given. “ If you know so,then you would have used the energy you used in talking in making sure that Maxwell doesn't get to know that you have never been pregnant, what do you think is going to happen if he get wind of it? It might be from me, might not be from me but…”Her eyes widened in fright before she questioned. “ How did you know? No one knew…it's just….unless it's Alexis, he told you?”“Wasn't he supposed to let me know? After yo

Nortia's POV“ You are joking, right?” Because there was nothing else she would say which would make me believe that she wasn't. “ Do I look like I am to you?” She questioned, a hand underneath her boobs. “ You are because there is no way you would be saying this if you were sane? Do you think you will get me to because of some measly file?” I questioned waiting for her to give an answer. Using Alexis at any chance she had was stupid, it was going to take something worse than that to get me to leave him, at least until I get the money I was promised and fulfill my part of the agreement. My heart tensed a bit when I thought about leaving my child behind after all of this. I was nothing more than a surrogate mother here, and I was supposed to adhere to the terms but it was suddenly hard for me to do so. What has changed?“ It is fine if you think it's measly, go about your job and I hope you know how much of a mistake you just made” I watched as she sauntered away, her heels clicked

  • Contractual Marriage: The billionaire's Woman    Bitter truth

Nortia's POVThe words on my lips were why exactly were they all acting this way, because I couldn't get it. “ Is something wrong?” I was barely staying sane as I stood waiting for my uncle to answer because he had to do so. He was acting so off or could it be this way because of last night? Of what Alexis did? They were supposed to take their losses and be happy that it hadn't gone way more than that. “Nortia” he began and I hated the way he called my name, all I wanted to do was rip it out of his tongue, let him know I was done being this way to them, letting them step over me. “ You have to know that the lawsuit was something Alexis couldn't get off the court, so we have to get to an agreement, get away from him and get married to this man, all he wants are heirs and you can do that for him, if you agree, then he will get it out of court” “ You don't mean what you just said, I am married, remember?” I was so close to losing my cool as it was taking everything in me not to do so

  • Contractual Marriage: The billionaire's Woman    Start afresh

Nortia's POVMy hand went underneath my chest in a fold while I tried to come up with what I was to do now and the next step of action to take but there was none that I could think about as my mind was blank. I knew that the best thing to do right away when get rid of the child but there was no way I was doing that neither would there be any way I will tell Alexis about this especially with how he had reacted at first, that amounted to him not wanting the child, but what Gerald had said changed everything and left me with conflicted feelings, which I needed to be sure about. How possible was it that he loved me that way and had no problem letting me go? I was having a hard time placing my hand on it as it seemed so out of place. If he actually loved me the way he had said, why had it been so easy for him to let me go? Running a hand across my eyes, I forced back the tears not wanting to complicate things than they already were, the emotions weren't going to be good for the child a

  • Contractual Marriage: The billionaire's Woman    Regrets

Alexis's POV Peering outside the window, I tried to ascertain what she would be doing right now, the gateman had stepped in not too long ago, given me details of how she had stepped out briskly not listening to anyone speaking to her before she walked out. He hadn't tried to stop her because no one else was supposed to but that didn't stop him from walking in here to get an answer on if she was supposed to be out there. I had waved him off, with a flick of my wrist, watching as he did what I had instructed without saying a word, now left to my thoughts, I had placed a call to Gerald giving orders that he should get in here, to take the papers to the lawyer. Time was ticking and although I really wanted to know what my parents would say if they found out what I had done, I will keep that away for now. My mom wasn't going to like it, I wasn't going to as well, everything was out against me and I really wanted a break, one from everything. When he was taking more time than he was s

  • Contractual Marriage: The billionaire's Woman    Better off

Nortia's POVI wanted it to be a joke, it had to be an expensive joke as it had happened so suddenly and there was no reason why he would do such a thing, we haven't had any arguments that would warrant this, so why exactly had this happened? The tears ran down my cheek, unending and no matter how hard I tried to make it stop, it just wouldn't stop, there were a lot of things that I wished had gone wrong instead of this, our marriage. Where had it all gone wrong? Where exactly was it that I didn't take note? Was it when I had insisted that he should let me be? Was that it? Had I taken it to the extreme? I plopped to the ground, chewing on my lips. I would have taken the money, that was what I owned but even at that moment, my rage had taken over. It would have been stupid to take that, I was never going to believe that he didn't love me. Alexis did, he loved me so what exactly had happened? My hand patted my chest, which ached so bad I was unable to take in air. My hands clenched

Alexis's POV Her eyes moistened as she peered at me, not wanting to believe what she had just been told. My hands fistened into a clench trying so hard not to stretch out my fingers to flick out the tears that had brimmed in her eyes. “What…are you saying?” She let out a cackle of hoarse laughter. “ I know you don't mean that but even at that, you shouldn't say something like that, I almost believed you there” she let out amusedly, beads of laughter accompanying it. “Nortia” I called, trying to get her to listen to me because she wasn't doing that at the moment. “ Nortia!” I called again, firmer than the last, forcing her attention on me. She halted, her eyes fixated on me as she waited for me to say what it was that I had to say. “I am being serious right now, it is over. Here” I tucked the file into her opened hand, the one that had divorce paper written on it. Her eyes dilated before they stared at the file she had in between her hand. “ You don't mean this, do you?” her to

Nortia's POVGenevieve was at the door immediately the word slipped out, tapping on it. I could tell how glad she was at what had just happened and I couldn't wait to go out to let her know. Slipping the test kit in-between my palm, I pulled the door open, when she stood in front of me. “ You are pregnant?” I could sense the hesitation in her tone, the one that wasn't there when she told me to confirm. “ Will it be bad if I say I am?” “ How exactly will that be bad? It will change everything, every single thing, it will. Life will be meaningful again, it will be worth living again” “ Ahaha” I let out, trying not to show that her words have been off in a way because she had said something about life being meaningful again.“ What do you mean by it will change everything? Is there something I don't know about?” It seems I was kept in the dark about something everyone else knew but I didn't have any idea about. “ No, of course not. Why would you even think that? • Contractual Marriage: The billionaire's Woman    Someone is knocked up

Nortia's POV Another day went by and Alexis was nowhere to be found, with each day that ran past, I was left thinking about my actions and his as well. Reaching him has been impossible as all the calls bounced back to me with an excuse of him working. I would have gotten his mother to talk to him, but I knew it would make matters worse than it already was so I clung onto that one part of me that believed he was busy and maybe when he is done, he will come back to me. Even when it was difficult to think about it that way, I shove away the thought that accumulated which was all streamlined to him cheating on me, he wasn't a cheat, that was something I could attest to. He could be a whole lot of things but the man I was married to was not a cheat as he had proved it on countless occasions and I have been made to know what he would be capable of and what he wouldn't be capable of. When the bell had rung out announcing someone at the door, I shoved the pillowcase on my leg away bef

  • Contractual Marriage: The billionaire's Woman    Papers

Alexis's POV “Have you thought about what to do yet?” Getting out of the house has been hard to make but I have done so, stretching it into weeks. I have been trying to think about what exactly I was to do but every single thing came to a stop at the same point, that I had no business keeping Nortia with me. If I was to protect Genevieve, letting Nortia go was the only issue I was posed with and what I had to make sure happened “ Get the lawyer, it is difficult for me to do this, but I have to let her go” “ There have been requests to see you, most of which are from her and she sounds heartbroken” “ Pass them over” I instructed before flipping my head around as I reached for the landline while placing it against my ears. Nortia's voice came out fine at first but it ended up with her telling me about how her day went and when I will be back to see her, my hands clenched the phone as I wished that was going to be all. That just listening to this would have me running home but I

Alexis's POV My heart dipped while I watched her rush past, trying to get past me into the lift before she turned to me, her face lighting up with a smile before she exhaled. “ I loved how today ended, I will love to do this more often with you” “ We will’ I answered, just so she won't think anything was wrong judging by how quick she was to get that. “ Sure?” She turned to me, flipping her head to the side. “ Will you go with me more often? The next date is on me.” “ Nortia” my eyes clogged with crystal on it which I shoved away because she was doing every single thought to make me have a change of heart even when she had no idea what I had planned and it wasn't even helping. I had promised, to make sure she had no regrets, given her my words that I was the only one who will never hurt her, and had seen through to it, I have intended to see though to that to the very end but it seems I couldn't, things just didn't work out the way one wanted it. “What’s wrong? Alexis's POV “Of course not” I answered, was that even possible? A life where I would be tired of her? Even if all she had to offer was her shenanigans, I was ready to go along with it all. I would bear it all as long as it meant her being by my side. I thought I was doing a good job, hiding my emotions and everything that I had to battle with. My mother had stomped after me wanting to know what had happened after Genevieve had burst into tears but I knew there was no way I could tell her, she would be as heartbroken as I was right now.“Why would you even think about that? How is it possible for me to get tired of you?” “ Then what do you want me to think?” Her lips parted as she questioned. “ I know you might take it as me overthinking, but I am not. I know you like the back of my palm, Alex. I do” “ And I am telling you everything is fine, you don't have to worry yourself about anything” She let out a sigh before turning to the side. “If that's what you are going to say, t
