CHAPTER 20~ MISUNDERSTANDINGS

Verya rushed down the dungeon, quickly stepping on the cracked concrete and passing the unpainted walls until she stood in front of Sathe's cell. He was seated by the bars, staring up at her with those glistening obsidian eyes. “Verya…?”

Verya smiled at him, the keys jingling in her hand. “Told you I’d get you out soon.”

“You didn’t come last night.”

“Yeah, I know.” She shoved the key into the lock on his cell door, twisting it until it came undone. “I’m sorry about that.”

Sathe stood to his feet, taking up the pink blanket and stepping through the door as soon as she opened it. She was smiling at him and for the first time he wasn’t smiling back. “Verya your scen…” He shook his head. “Never mind.”

“Father gave you somewhere to stay, it’s rather deep in the forest, but I think it suits you best.”
