Chapter 1

ผู้เขียน: Selene Blackwood
Eight months pregnant, my family threw me a loving baby shower.

When fire broke out, my parents instantly shielded my blood-cursed sister and fled, leaving me behind to die.

My husband, Lysander, rushed into the flames to save me. His back was scorched raw, yet he only cradled my belly, whispering, “You and the baby must be safe.”

I thought that was love.

Until I accidentally saw his messages to my sister—

“Once she gives birth, the cord blood will save you. Just hold on a little longer.”

I touched the life kicking inside me and smiled silently.

The next day, I scheduled a termination.

And on the day of the procedure, they stormed into my hospital room with sedatives and restraints.

...

I had just gotten the appointment slip for the termination when I walked right into Lysander helping my stepsister, Elara, to her check-up.

Seeing me, Lysander’s steps faltered.

“Aria? What are you doing at the pack clinic? The Healer said your next check-up wasn’t for another week.”

He stared at my stomach, his face a mask of tension.

I used to think it was concern. Now I knew the truth. I was just a living container, incubating the cure for her.

“Just… not feeling right. Thought I’d get checked.”

His response was immediate, his grip on my arm tightening. “What’s wrong? What did the Healer say? Is the pup alright? Did they run the scans?”

He pulled me closer, his hand splaying over my belly, his eyes full of a desperate, possessive care.

Elara shot me a venomous look. “Can’t even carry a pup properly. Useless. If anything happens to that bloodline, I’ll make you regret it.”

Wordlessly, I handed him the ultrasound result I’d just gotten.

He scanned it, and his shoulders slumped in visible relief. “Good. The pup is strong. You should go home and rest. Elara has more tests. I’ll be back after.”

His other hand never left Elara’s back.

I used to excuse his excessive attention to her as affection for my family. I was a fool.

I watched them walk away, then followed.

They entered the office of the head Healer for blood ailments—my father.

I pressed against the door, my enhanced hearing picking up every word.

“Elara’s condition is deteriorating. The blood curse is accelerating. We can’t wait,” Lysander’s voice was strained.

My father’s tone was grim. “We need the cord blood from Aria’s birth. Just two more months.”

“She might not have a month!” Lysander snapped.

“Then we induce early. Eight months is viable for a pup.”

A new voice, cold and clinical, came from the corner. My mother. A senior Healer from the birthing suites.

It felt like silver claws raking through my chest, shredding my lungs. They were all in on it. Every single one. And I’d actually believed, for one pitiful moment, that carrying the future Alpha’s heir had finally earned me their love.

“But… the pup. Aria’s body. An early forced birth carries risks,” Lysander said, and a pathetic spark of hope flickered in me.

My mother’s voice cut through it. “Elara’s survival is paramount. Nothing else matters.”

I stared at the woman who bore me, my heart howling in silent agony.

Elara’s weak, simpering voice chimed in. “Lysander… you sound so worried about her pup. Don’t tell me you’ve developed feelings for your… temporary mate?”

Lysander’s reply was swift, laden with disgust. “Never. I bonded with her to nurture a pure-blood heir whose cord blood would save you. Once the pup is out, she is nothing to me.”

Tears blurred my vision. My hand clenched around the small pouch in my pocket—the wolfsbane and silver-dust mixture the rogue Healer had given me. A draught to quietly end a pregnancy. A way out they’d never see coming.

I tipped my head back and swallowed the bitter contents whole.

Lysander had prepared for this pack gathering like it was a war council. He’d summoned elders from allied packs, opened a live mind-link broadcast to the entire territory, and even had warriors lining the perimeter to ensure a ‘respectful’ atmosphere. He was betting everything on this one performance to salvage his ruined reputation.I arrived not as the cowed, penitent she-wolf he expected, but as Aria of the Silverfang line. I wore the ceremonial silver-gray leathers of an Alpha female, my hair braided with obsidian beads that caught the firelight. The murmurs hit me like a physical wave through the pack link.‘By the Moon, she’s dressed for a victory run, not a confession!’‘Look at her. No remorse. Elara’s spirit hasn’t even completed its first mourning moon cycle.’‘She’s lost her mind. Or she’s declaring war.’Lysander’s eyes narrowed when he saw me. The mask of grief and leadership he’d been wearing slipped for a second, revealing pure, icy calculation. Then it was back.“Aria,”

My hands were steady as I activated the public pack link feed. There it was. My name, trending at the peak.#AriaFrey: Terminated Eight-Month Pup to Condemn Sister##TheTruthBehindTheSurgery#I opened the first thread. Lysander had posted a crystal-clear image. A medical record from a discreet, private birthing clinic on the edge of our territory. A date from weeks ago. A service listed: ‘Voluntary Termination (Late Term) Consultation & Scheduling.’And at the bottom, a signature. Mine. The comments section was a tidal wave of reversal.“Moon’s mercy… there WAS a plan.”“She had a choice? To save both her pup AND her sister? And she chose… this?”“No wonder her family despised her. She’s ice-cold.”“To kill your own unborn heir… what kind of she-wolf does that? Maybe the Alpha was right to love the other one.”The vitriol was instant, and it was physical. My personal stone started ringing with blocked signatures shouting curses. Mind-link pulses, heavy with hate, slammed against my men

“Elara’s death has nothing to do with me,” I said, wrenching my robe from Torin’s grip. The movement sent a stab of pain through my core. “You took what you wanted. You carved me up for it. Her dying is your failure, not mine.”Torin’s face contorted. The grief turned into something darker, something aimed solely at me.Smack.His open hand connected with my cheek, snapping my head to the side. The sound was like a crack of thunder in the small room.“Why did it have to be her?” he bellowed, tears streaming down his face. “Why couldn’t it have been you, you wretched creature? My Elara is gone!”One of the chroniclers stepped forward. “She is recovering from major surgery! She nearly died!”Torin shoved the man away with terrifying, wolf-augmented strength. “My daughter is DEAD! She killed her sister! She sent her mother to the Council cells! She deserves to die!”Then his hands were around my throat. His fingers squeezed, cutting off my air. His eyes were entirely wolf, glowing with am

The pack link broadcast went wild.“So the Alpha’s true love is his mate’s stepsister? And her parents helped? This is a Moon-forsaken mess.”“I feel sick. The level of betrayal…”“He married her just to breed a cure for his lover? What kind of twisted logic is that?!”On the link, Lysander’s voice sharpened with sudden suspicion. “Aria… that echo… are you broadcasting this? Is this a trap? You’re setting me up!”He was still trying to blame me.A cold laugh escaped me. “Your own actions condemn you, Lysander. Don’t you ever dream of him? The pup you all pulled from me, broken and still?”“If I go down, I’m taking you with me,” he seethed, shifting tactics. “Remember, we are still mated. Your fate is tied to mine!”“Are we?” I asked softly. “Do you remember the mate-bond dissolution papers you signed? To prove your devotion when we bonded?”A pause. A sharp intake of breath.“You… you filed them? How? You’ve been here!”I could almost hear him scrambling, drawers slamming. His panic wa

I woke to the sharp, clean scent of antiseptic herbs and sterile linens, not the metallic tang of blood. A private healing chamber.Muffled voices floated from the corridor.“.lucky to be alive. A dozen Healers, working for over half a day. She lost so much blood her wolf nearly faded.”“How could her own parents and mate do that? And her mother… they found a silver clamp inside her. Left it behind. Can you imagine?”My hand moved sluggishly, drifting down to my stomach.Flat. Empty.A hollow, aching void where my pup should have been.A nurse noticed my movement and hurried out. Moments later, a senior Healer entered, his aura calm and weary. He performed a quick check, his hands glowing with a soft green healing energy.“Your physical body is stable, Aria,” he said quietly. “Your wolf is weak, but resting. The danger has passed.”He left me with a pitcher of moon-blessed water. In the afternoon, as I tried to sleep, there was a knock. A woman and a man entered, holding a crystal reco

The door to the operating theater slammed open.Bryce, the Pack’s lead Enforcer, stood framed in the doorway, his expression a thundercloud. Behind him, several Council Guards shifted nervously, their scents sharp with alarm and anger.“I knew something was wrong when you dragged her out,” Bryce’s voice was a low growl, cutting through the sterile air. “If she was in labor, why were you silencing her? Why force her to move? I used the pack link to check with the main infirmary. No birth was scheduled for Aria today.”His furious gaze swept over Lysander and my mother, Serena. Then it landed on me.A collective, sharp inhale came from the Guards.I was strapped down, my abdomen laid open without anesthesia, silver sutures clutched in my mother’s bloody hand. My skin was peeled back, the raw, brutal evidence of their butchery on full display.“Moon God above,” one Guard whispered, turning pale.“She is your family!” Bryce roared, his control snapping. “How could you do this?”He turned a
