Light crept through the boards on the windows as Jess laid on the bed motionless zoning into the obsess. It was becoming easier to just feel nothing and numb herself.  The creep offered her some eggs and a burnt piece of toast.  She remained motionless but watched as he placed it on the side table.

“Come on now, you gotta be starving.  At least have some water.” He lifted her up and she felt like a rag doll.  She let him give her water and some of it ran down her chin, she didn’t bother to try to catch it.

Ahem. What’s your name?” She asked.

He looked amazed she would ask.

“Well pretty girl. You're looking at the one and only Jedd Parson!” He threw his arms up like he was declaring himself the winner of some game.

“Jedd.” She pulled herself up as best she could. “My names Jess…I would really like to go home.”  She waited for him to raise a fist again.  But instead, he stood picked up the plate of eggs and put it on her lap.

“You need to eat.” He demanded.

She could tell her plea was being ignored. She had to come up with something to give herself time to escape.  She also needed to figure out where the hell she was so she knew where she needed to go.

“I, uhm.  I’m dairy sensitive.  I can’t have eggs.” She handed him the plate.

He tossed the toast on her lap.

“Eat it.”  He demanded.

“I’m not-” He interrupted her.

“EAT IIIT!” He spit as he screamed and it made her chin quiver.  She took a bite.

“Do you think I could have more pain medicine please?” She was trying to make him feel like she was growing comfortable.

“Well of course darlin’, I would be much obliged.” He reached into the side table and pulled out the syringe and liquid.  She didn’t fight him this time in fact, she welcomed the escape.

The days went on like this and Jess counted five sunrises. Her parents would be home from their trip by now.  They would have reported her as missing and no doubt be out searching for her.  This gave her hope.  Every chance Jess got she put more weight on her injured leg.

On the fifth night she managed to painfully remove the shackle from her leg.  She had lost a bit of weight and it was work but, she managed to free her leg.  She let out a quiet cry of relief.  Jedd never left her alone so she had no idea where he kept his keys.

She attempted to stand completely on her leg and instantly felt the worst pain imaginable.  It took all of her to not cry out in pain or throw herself back on the bed.  She gimped over to the night stand and quietly slid the door open.  She had never given a shot before in her life.  She put just a little bit in the needle and pushed the air out like she had seen Jedd do.  Quickly she administered it to herself.  She had managed to build up somewhat of an intolerance to it over the past week so it didnt make her to groggy.

Don’t go to sleep. Don’t go to sleep.

Jedd moaned a bit and rolled over. Her heart dropped and she froze.

She looked at him and then the vial.

You will have to be fast Jess.

Without even considering the amount she was inserting into the syringe, she filled it about half way. Hesitation hit her and she put a little more.

Maybe it will kill him.

Jess instantly felt sick to her stomach it was now or never.  Limping to the other side of the bed she gently touched his arm, he didn’t move much.  He had grown use to her being next to him.  She knew the needle would wake him.  But, hoped it would slow him down enough for her to get out of the cabin.  He never locked the door.  Jess assumed it was because she was injured and chained to the bed.  He didn’t think she would make it to the door.

Jess took a deep breath and shoved the needle in quickly and pushed hard and fast.  Jedd’s eyes popped open.  He stumbled up, out of bed, and back-handed her so hard she hit the fireplace mantel.  Her world was spinning but she was still conscious.  Jedd grabbed her by her hair and threw her on the ground.  He was moving really slow but, he was still quick enough to get on top of an injured, drugged, Jess.  His hands found her throat and Jess tried to pry his fingers off.  She couldn’t breathe.  Fumbling she found the shackle and with all her might cracked him in the face with it.  Blood sprayed her face.  The blow was enough to send him off of her.

“You fucking BITCH!” He was struggling to find his feet; the drugs must have been kicking in.

Jess was going to get out of here or she was going to die trying.  The latter may be more realistic.  She climbed to her feet and let out a scream of pain.  She limped frantically for the front door and threw it open.  Jedd followed staggering across the room.

She made a half ass attempt to run for the truck her leg dragging behind her like one of those dogs you feel sorry for.  She thought she heard Jedd puking, maybe she had overdosed him.  She made it to the driver’s side and saw the keys sitting on the seat.

“Oh my god, thank you.” She was crying at this point and went to open the door.  She felt a force at the back of her head and her eye socket hit the metal frame of the truck.

“AHHHHH!” She screamed as she reared her head back as hard as she could into his face.

That bought her enough time to open the door. She threw it open with purpose and nailed a bent over Jedd right in the head.  He fell on his ass and she scrambled with the keys putting the truck into drive.  Jedd grabbed the door and she punched it, the weight of him hanging and the force of her speed caused the door to slam and something flew in her lap.  She left a screaming Jedd in the dust and looked down to see it was his finger that was laying in her lap.  She tossed it in the seat and pissed herself.  She had no idea where she was going but she drove like she did. She took a right at the main road and kept driving.

  • Creep   Gotcha Pretty Girl

The sound of Jay's vehicle approached the cabin. “I can’t believe you would let her come here alone!” Jay slammed the door on his cruiser. "You should have came to get me as soon as she put her ass in the car." Doug got out and trailed behind him, “Well it’s not like I could have got her to change her mind.” “I would have locked her in the laundry room if it would have kept her there.” It was clear Jay was furious. He looked in the window of Jess’ car. “Well she’s still here. Jess!” He shouted. Both men listened for a second for any sign of movement before walking up the front steps. Jay attempted to open the door and it was stuck. "Man someone lived in

  • Creep   Into The Flame

The four of them didn’t move a muscle except to look at each other. When Jay was sure it was over he rushed to Jess’ side putting pressure on her now gaping wound. “Did you really need to cut her that deep?” He helped Jess to her feet before picking her up to carry her up the hill. “The attachment was deep. So the wound needed to be deep.” Myra shouted up to him as Jay huffed up the incline. Not one word was spoke on the ride back to the house. All that could be heard was the hurried breathing from Jess because she was hurting. Once inside Myra started brewing a pot of coffee. Doug and Jay threw themselves on the couch. Jess went into the laundry room and retrieved a sewing kit. Walking into the living room she tossed it on Jay’s lap.

  • Creep   Out Of The Fire

This was the first time since the night she killed Jedd that she had come down to the riverside. All four of them stepped out into the cold and Jess crossed her arms around herself, rubbing her arms for warmth. Myra knew just where to go as if she herself had been there. Jess and Jay shared a brief glace before Jay wrapped an arm around her. He lead her down the slope. Jess felt as if she was walking in mud, her feet didn’t want to step forward. She was all but relying on Jay to keep her in a forward momentum. It shouldn’t have surprised her that the fire pit remained exactly where it had been. It was also evident that some of the kids from town decided that it was going to be their new hang out spot. Beer cans and tree carvings were visible in the surrounding areas. &nb

  • Creep   Speak No Evil

Jess found herself at the local coffee roaster's with her nose in her laptop, drinking an Americano. She felt the eyes on her and noticed the whispers. Any time she would make eye contact with someone they would quickly look away. She was fine with it though it was better this way. Three drinks in she started to feel anxious and could hardly sit still. Just as she felt she couldn’t take waiting any more her phone rang. “Hello Jess? It’s Doug, I’m roughly ten minutes out should we meet at the house?” She closed her laptop and walk to the street to get in her car. “Yes, that will work. I will see you soon.” Jess flipped a U-turn and made her way home. Pulling up the dr

  • Creep   Hear No Evil

Driving up the ridge she felt more alone then ever. She had made this drive a million times over yet, today it felt like she was in someone else’s life. The curves of the road, the tree line, the gravel drive way to her home; it all felt different. She had spent so much of the past few weeks in tears. Jess felt them building up even now as she prepared to walk into the home where Trevor and her had built so many memories. “No. Don’t cry.” She took a deep breath and walked into the quiet house. Her phone notification went off and she about jumped out of her skin. You really didn’t need to leave so sudden. Are you ok? Daddy and I are worried. Call me when you make it home, Love Mom. &n

  • Creep   See No Evil

Jess woke early the next morning. She peeked out the window and saw a small blood stain where Trevor’s body had been just a few hours before. She could see her reflection in the window, she looked exhausted. Her eyes were swollen from crying and she had deep, dark circles under her eyes. “Ugh.” She let the curtain fall back into place. The house was quiet; her parents were probably still sleeping. Trevor’s and her parents were close friends since as long as Jess could remember. She was thankful for that friendship now. Her dad had handled all the things needed to get Trevor back to his parents in Colorado. Jess scribbled a quick note on the fridge; I love you guys more than anything. I need my space. Ill text to let you know I made it home. I’ll be okay. Yours always
