CHAPTER THREE

Bianca

I rushed to my sit and started searching my bag for a towel to clean my face when I heard someone say have this.

I looked to my right and I was shocked to my bone and I can't seems to stop staring at the beautiful creature sitting beside me

He has emerald eyes, not the regular brown or black eyes that Nigerians have, his dark hair looks so soft and fluffy and I felt like giving my fingers a tour through it, he has a pointed nose, thick eyebrow and pink lips, and he's really fair, almost white, he looks like a vampire.

Wait, what if he's really a vampire, I bit my tongue at my thought. This guy is definitely not a Nigerian, he doesn't even look like one.

Though he's sitting I can tell that he's tall, maybe 5'9, his arm looks big in the black hoodie he is wearing and I can tell that he gyms a lot, he has a earring on his left ear, i doubt if he knows that it's not allowed, he looks absolutely stunning with a bad boy look, I was jolted back to reality when I heard his deep husky masculine voice again

"Are you done checking me out?" He asked as he raised his left brow

I must have been staring at him for a while because he smirked

I tried to talk but nothing came out, my throat felt tied, I took the towel from him, and I wiped my face, the smell that filled my nostril  made my body shiver, it's different from aunt Theresa's cologne or any other person.

I looked at him again,  his eyes already glued to his phone, he is an using iPhone, he must be very rich so I just faced my front before he accuses me of striping him with my eyes this time.

The class is over and I'm sure I didn't gain anything in that class because I didn't concentrate, I kept thinking about the boy beside, when Mrs Bennett asked him to introduce himself, I was very happy, at least I'll get to know his name

"I'm Ethan Wellington, I moved here a week ago from America" he said

Oh, he's from America,  no wonder his accent sounded like angel Gabriel's trumpet. It sounds great but flirty" I thought .

Since the bell rang and the teacher left,  I started packing my bag when I suddenly remember I didn't thank him for the towel, I looked to my right and my chest fell into my stomach when I realized that he has gone.

I stood up, mad at myself and left for the cafeteria, I feel like if I don't eat soon I'll collapse, on my way I saw my best friend Chioma.

"Bianca! there you are! you came late today again right?" She asked me

"I  woke up late actually, and you know I can't leave without making my uncle's breakfast and doing the house chore" I replied her

"Have you seen the new boy? OMG! He's very handsome, much more handsome than Henry, Henry almost died seeing him, I heard he's from America, guess what his name is? His name is... " she trailed off

"Ethan! Yes, Ethan! He is in my class " I cut her off rolling my eyes

"He's in business department? I thought he's in humanities, I wish he was in science department" she said dreamily.

"Well, he's in my class, he sat beside me"

"He what!" She asked with excitement "did he talk to you, did he wink or smile, anything at  all... "

"He offered me his face towel because I was sweating, that's all, he doesn't even look that handsome" I lied about my last sentence

She gave me a are you kidding me look and pulled me the cafeteria, we bought our minced pie and cola before we walked to a table and started eating.

As we were eating, the school new Prince Charming  entered and everyone froze staring at him.

As I was eating, I saw my cousins move to where Ethan was sitting, I knew something was up, they said something that I couldn't hear since I'm sitting two tables away, he replied and they sat.

They kept talking until I saw them exchanging numbers, I felt like disappearing so I pulled Chioma and left immediately.

After school, Chioma's mom came to pick her up, I bade her goodbye and walked fast so that I can catch a bus, I saw one and I entered immediately .

When I got home, my cousins are there already, their mom picked them after school, Layla said hi while kayla pretended as if no one entered.

I went straight to my room, when my father died and I had to move in to my aunt's place, they only room they could offer me is the storage room, they said the last bedroom they have is for guests.

I slide down slowly, sitting on the floor and resting my back on the door as I broke down, remembering everything that has happened in last four years my father died brought tears to my face, if my father had not died, my life would never be like this, I would never be a maid in my aunt's house.

Even when my father was alive, I know she doesn't like me because she never liked my mother, after my dad died I kept waiting for my mom to claim me but she never showed up.

I crawled to my bed, laid on my chest and cried my heart out, I do this when my heart becomes full and heavy, I was starting to sleep when I heard screams, it's coming from layla's room.

I jumped up, tiptoed down the stairs case, entered the kitchen and I grabbed the biggest knife, I went to Layla's room, I stayed outside for a while, I was scared,  but I've to save my cousin if I can, I burst the door opened and barged in to catch the killer unaware, but I didn't see any strange person.

"Layla, is everything fine?" I asked confused

I looked around and my cousin suddenly burst into laughter

What! Did they prank me? Why did they have to scream like that, I said in my thoughts

"Bianca , we are fine I'm sorry for laughing at you but what are you planning to do with that kitchen knife?" Layla asked

Yes! This is it! I can never learn, I've always been stupid and I'm sure I look stupid right now, I can't blame them for laughing, I looked down in shame, I can't bear the look of you are the most gullible person in the world,  pathetic fool ! that kayla is giving me.

I tried to answer Layla but my tongue went numb

"Guess what!" She screeched. I really hope her voice won't make me deaf one day

"I'm not good at guessing remember?"

"Ethan asked me to go out with him" she said in her deafening high pitched voice again, with her sister screaming happily with her.

A cold shiver ran through my spine and suddenly I had the urge to leave because my legs will fail me soon.

"Lucky you!" I said with a smile and left

I'm sure it took me a lifetime to reach my room,  my pace was slower than that of a snail, if any one had seen me,  they would mistake me for a zombie

Why am I even shocked? The boy just came today, he was nice to me by offering me his face towel and he kept looking at me, making me uncomfortable in class, I was hoping he would like me at least we can be friends until I saw my cousins with him. Layla has a boyfriend for Christ sake, I thought she loves Henry, now it's Ethan??? I can't blame her! I guess Ethan is just an asshole like other guys.

I finally got to my room, slide down the door,  sitting on the floor, starting another round of tears, I crawled to my bed, laid on my chest and cried myself to sleep.

I woke up early the next day with a headache, I had thought someone was drumming noisily in the street until I realized that it's in my head, I groaned in pain, stood up went out to start my chores so that I won't be late to school.

I finished everything and left early so that I can trek since I have no dime to enter a taxi or bus, I walked slowly because I know I'll be very early to school if I rush so I took my time. I got to school and everything happened the way it happens just that Ethan's arrival is still making girls excited.

After two weeks, on my way to school, I kept thinking of what my life will become, I'll be eighteen in few month time, in the last four years I've not celebrated any of my birthdays, I no longer get surprise parties, no  blowing candles on my cake in bed, no special food for me, no one even remembers, no one wishes me except Chioma, she's the only friend that stayed when I lost everything, I owe her a lot.

I can't wait to finish secondary school and go to university, then I won't get to see my horrible aunt every morning, I'll live on my own and get a per time job to take care of myself.

I was so lost in thought when a loud horn dragged me back to reality, I screamed in horror, I'm in the middle of the road and a car almost hit me,  the car stopped and I breathe out a relief air,  it was like my heart froze for a second.

My heart froze again when the person driving the car came down, walked towards me, grabbed my hand and pulled me to the other side of the car, opened the door, pushed me in,  went to the drivers seat, sat down and continued driving.

Who else can it be? It's Ethan of course, who does he think he is to make me enter his car like I'm a dog going astray, he needs to be taught a lesson.

He didn't say a word in the car and I didn't either, I fought the urge not to look at him, but I kept stealing glances, couldn't help it,  he's just too handsome.

We got to school, he alighted leaving me in his car,  I sprang down, run towards him and halted in front of him.

"Excuse me!" I said and he stopped and looked at me as if he's expecting a show

"Who the hell do you think you are!" I asked angrily, he didn't reply, instead he crossed his arm.

"Hello!" I called...  "I'm not talking to the table and chairs, I'm talking to you"

"What do you want?" He asked coldly

"What do I want? you dragged me in into your car like a dog going astray! Not just that! You didn't say a word, not even a good morning and you left me in your car  again! To do what? To monitor it?"

"What do you expect me to do? You want me to come remind you, we are in school already or you want me to come open the door for you?... I don't know why you are ranting maybe to get my attention but you are not my type!" He dropped the bomb and left without looking back.

I stood there for minutes with my mouth opened in shock until I heard a voice.

"Babe, are you inviting flies to come party in your mouth?" Chioma said

I shut mouth and rolled my eyes at her and we walked towards our classrooms.

"He turned out to be an arrogant imported baboon!" I muttered

"I have no idea of who you are talking about but I don't like the word baboon, monkey is preferable, like this arrogant imported monkey, ugh! Sounds good" she chuckled

I looked at her and rolled my eyes. "you are not serious Chioma!"

"So who is this imported baboon?" She asked giving me a look of tell me everything or die

I told her everything and she listened carefully. That the kind of person Chioma is, she's a good friend, I tell her everything that happens to me and she always try to help me in her unique way. I told her what the  foreign guy did this morning and what Layla told me yesterday.

"So you are telling me Ethan is the arrogant imported baboon?"

"Yes! Who else? I just want to strangle him, drag him to a pit and bury him! This boy should better not unleash the beast in me!" I said in anger

"Hey! Hey! Take a pill and chill babe, chill! Maybe you should just ignore him, I never knew he's Henry's replica."

"So you are contesting for miss valedictory queen in the pageant coming up?" I tried to change the topic

"Yeah, I have a feeling your sister is gonna win"

"Cousin!" I corrected

"Okay, your cousin, but I'm still gonna try anyways"

I smiled, "you'll make it Chi".

Layla's POV

When I saw this new guy, I liked him immediately, he can help me win val queen, he has taken Henry's post, he's the school's heartthrob already, everyone is talking about him, I've to have him before any girl does, and talking of Henry, I'm breaking up with him after Ethan ask me out, I don't need him anymore, staying with him will make my chance of winning 40% and I believe 60% with Ethan is better because being with him will make me more popular.

Kayla barged in.

"Babe that door is there for a reason!" I said in annoyance.

"And that lock is there for a reason" she shot back jokingly and I rolled my eyes and she jumped on my bed. "Have you called him?" She asked

"Not yet, I will do that soon, Kayla I like this guy a lot and I hope he likes me too"

"Sis, he will, you are beautiful and you've not been rejected by any guy before so why will he?" Kayla asked me

"He's an half caste Kayla, and he's obviously rich, he's a big guy, have you seen his car, he's the first student to own a car in Legends international school, Kayla he might think I'm too small for him"

"You still have to try, shoot your shot dear sis, call him now"

"Okay, let me call him"

I brought out my phone and dialled his number, he picked after the first ring.

"Hey Layla" I heard his deep husky voice over the phone, he sounded as if he's sleeping already

"Sorry,  did I wake you? You're sleeping already?" I asked

"No! But I'm in bed already"  he said

"Oh, okay see you at school tomorrow" I said hoping to hear what I want to hear

After few awkward seconds, he asked

"Would you like to hang out with me whenever you are free?" He dropped the bomb and I replied immediately before he changes his mind

"Sure!"

"we'll talk at school tomorrow, bye!" He hung up and I looked at my sister waiting for me to tell her what the sure was for

I screamed, "he just asked me to go out with him!"  My sister screamed with me and we started throwing pillows.

  I'm sure if mom and dad were around, they would be here right now in their pyjamas thinking we've been attacked by a psychopath.

But nevertheless, the door flung open and Bianca entered holding a big kitchen knife looking around the room scared and worried.

"Layla, is everything fine?" She asked

Kayla and I looked at each other for a while and burst into laughter, I couldn't control it even though I didn't want to laugh at her.

I looked at her and saw how bad she felt and I stopped laughing.

"Bianca, we are fine, I'm sorry for laughing at you but what are you planning to do with that kitchen knife"

She looked down and tried to talk but nothing came out

"I... I.... "

"Guess what?" I said since I knew she wasn't going to say anything but stammer the time away

She looked at me immediately, "I'm not good at guessing, remember?"

"Oh, Ethan just asked me to go out with him" I screamed again

"Lucky you" she said with a smile and left the room.
