Chapter 38 Peculiar Things

The officer slammed the door behind him, letting out a sigh of exasperation.

“What do we do if we find no evidence to support that note?” the Chief Inspector said, hissing under his breath. His eyes darted to the closed door where Lucas was.

“What else? Of course we’d let him go.” The detective once more deeply sighed and went on his office. He stared at the note that was scanned on his computer. They searched for any handwritten letters of Mr. Lorenzo and the penmanship matched. The pen he used also had his fingerprints. But the evidence they have was not enough to prove Lucas guilty.

“Detective!” An officer barged in his office. “Mr. Lorenzo’s daughter’s here,” he said. The detective rushed outside his office to meet the daughter. A 17-year-old girl was with another officer, calming her down. She looked disarrayed, her clothes
