Chapter 4

Anna knew Dimitri more than he knew himself. She knew whenever something was bothering him, or stressed, all he wanted was a reckless ride. Driving like you don’t need your life anymore.

Anna drove the car at the highest speed until he told her to park.

She parked and looked back at him. “What are you planning to do, sir?”

He inhaled and exhaled deeply. “That woman is planning something evil. She knows I would not cancel the marriage because of property. I just don’t know what she is trying to do.”

“Sir, what if she is trying to use the lady against you?” She asked.

“What do you mean?”

“Obviously, she won’t gain anything in your marriage, but she may be planning to use the lady against you,” she analyzed.

“Why didn’t she allow you to choose the bride yourself?” She asked a question but wasn’t expecting an answer. “Because you will marry someone you love and care about, and she doesn't want that.”

“Why didn’t she choose someone from a rich background?” She raised another question and paused.

“Because she won’t be able to control them. She wants to use the lady she can control against you. She wants a lady that will see her as her savior and bow to her command.”

“What should I do?” He sought advice.

Her answer was simple. “The ball is in your court, sir.”

“But please, target the poll and kick it towards a goal.”

He thought for minutes and giggled. “Since she is planning to use the lady against me, I should also make the lady my weapon against her. I have to stab her in the back. I must make the lady fall for me.”

“What’s the next thing?” She asked.

“Now, to the blind date venue. Who is taking her there?” He inquired.

“Bastian, your driver.” She answered.

“Good. Reserve the fourth floor of our restaurant and told Bastian to take her there.” He ordered.

“Okay, sir.” She did as instructed and started the engine.

Mila was tired of sitting in the car. She got herself busy with thoughts, and now she was out of it.

She didn’t want to talk, but she couldn’t resist when Bastian turned back. “Please, where are we going?”

“Young master said I should drop you at a restaurant.”

“Okay.”

←TWO HOURS LATER→

After four and a half hours, when Mila left home, they arrived at the restaurant.

Sighting the hotel from the car, she adored it and opened her mouth in awe. It was the biggest restaurant in the city.

Bastian got out of the car and quickly opened the door.

“Come down, ma.” He bowed his head.

She first let down her left leg and then the right one. She was nervous and breathed deeply.

‘Calm down, Mila, you have to do this. You can do it. Your happiness depends on this.’ She slightly closed her eyes and shook her head left and right.

Bastian opened the door for her, and she entered.

“This way, ma.” He directed her to the elevator.

He opened the elevator, and she entered, and they went to the fourth floor.

“Sit down, please.” He directed her to a seat.

All the floors of Leo’s restaurant were beautiful, but the fourth floor was furnished most because it was used by people of high status, and Anna had reserved all the seats in it. And no one was allowed in, no matter their status.

Mila expected Dimitri to be there already, but it surprised her he wasn’t there.

“He might be busy,” she convinced herself. She didn’t want to think badly of the man she was getting married to.

Five minutes…

Ten minutes…

Fifteen minutes…

Twenty minutes…

Twenty-seven minutes…

Mila became more agitated. A part of her mind kept telling her to continue being positive about Dimitri, but the part that was telling her he wasn’t a good person seemed to be winning the battle.

She took water from the table and emptied the glass. She grinned at her teeth and hit the glass on the table. “What’s he doing?”

“I am trying to make things work out better for us.” A voice came from behind.

She turned back to look and the appearance of the most handsome guy she had ever seen made her open her mouth widely. She wasn’t the type that adores men’s beauty, but she couldn’t overlook an angel she just saw in person.

She was still lost in the thought that she didn’t know he had moved closer to her.

“Young lady. Young lady…” he called repeatedly, getting Mila’s attention.

“Yes.” Mila’s voice was higher, a little out of shock.

Dimitri walked to the chair and sat down with a smile that could easily win a woman’s heart.

“Why is the table empty?” His voice was cool and tinted with care. “Didn’t you ask for anything or they didn’t attend to you?”

“I asked for water only.” She answered.

“I am Leo Dimitri.” He introduced.

“Mila.” She answered hurriedly like her time was limited.

He smiled, lovely. “Your name is beautiful.”

“Thank you.” She smiled. It was the first time a man said it to her and even though she didn’t know if he was speaking what was in his mind, she still felt happy.

“I hope you will beautify my life, as your name implies.” His voice was seducing and Mila couldn’t say anything but smiled, blushing.

“I like your dress. It looks great. You are an epitome of beauty. You must have been the goddess of beauty in your past life.” His mode of talking made her fall for him more.

“Thank you.” She appreciated.

“Mila, can I ask you a question?” He asked in a low voice.

“Yes.” She answered.

“Did you know me before now?” He pushed a question forward. “Please, tell the truth.”

Mila shook her head in positivity. “Yes, but on the TV.”

“Do you want this marriage? Are you happy with it?” He investigated.

Mila was quiet for a minute. She wanted to tell the truth, but what if the guy get angry and tell her uncle? For minutes, she was silent, clouding all of what Anita would do for her if things didn’t work out.

“Mila…” he bought himself a gaze from her. “Remember this is real marriage, not a movie. If you step into it now, you won’t be able to run back. You can’t step into the ocean and dare complain of the cold.”

“No, I don’t want this marriage.” She answered. It was something she didn’t want to say, but hearing Dimitri, she felt he could be her savior.

“Are you Anya?” He asked. He seemed to know a lot.

“No. My uncle and his wife don’t want their daughter to marry you, so they used me.” She cried.

He shook his head. “I knew right from the moment I entered.”

Mila looked down, crying. She wished she hadn’t poured out her mind, because she had brought a problem on herself.

“Will you accept me to protect you?”

His question made her raised her head and fixed her gaze straight into his eyes.

“I know you won’t believe me. None of us wants this marriage and the least we can do is make each other happy. Please, give me the chance to protect you.” He voiced out.

Hearing the last line, she believed him.

“Will you protect me?” She asked.

“Yes, I promised. Even if it costs…” before he could complete his statement, Anna came in with some ladies and guys.

He stood up and walked to her front. He kneeled down and took out a ring. “I don’t want you to see this as a marriage of inconvenience,”

“Will you marry me, please?”

“Yes. I will marry you.” She answered and drew him up. He wanted to kiss her, but she took her mouth away.

Anna snapped pictures while others clapped and smiled choruses.

She kept in her mind that his feelings weren’t true, but for now, he was the only one that could save her, and with time, she would know the next step.

He hugged her with the thought. ‘I will use you against Nidia and get all my property back…’

She wrapped her arms around him, thinking, ‘I will use you against everyone that stands in my way, and I will stand well on my feet back…’
