Memphis’s P.O.V

I take a glance at Rissa. Confusion clouds her features. And even if my heart is in my throat, I turn to Ashley and say, “I don’t have any wristwatch that isn’t mine.”

“Er…” Her lashes flutter; she now wears the same confusion Rissa has on. But I’m flat-out going to stick to my words like it’s the truth.

“Who’s asking?” I add.

“Jeffrey.”

I blink slowly, taken aback by her response. But… my left brow flicks up a moment, realization dawning on me. Green-eyes doesn’t want to put me

Memphis’s P.O.VA thunderous horn sends a jolt through me; I flinch in my seat, my phone slipping out of my hand. I grip the steering wheel quickly, step on the gas, and drive. ‘Reach out to your team member, Memphis.’ This is all that cycles in my mind. I carefully drop my right hand to the floorboard, feeling for my phone as my other hand steers the wheel. When I don’t find it, I glance down only to find it stuck between my seat and the console. I pull it out, take one final troubled glance at the email, then lock my phone.Over eighty-five of us take Sports Psychology. How on earth did I end up with her? Why in heaven’s name did it have to be her?My jaw clenches. Frustrated, I slam my fist hard on the steering wheel and honk at the vehicle moving too slowly in front of mine. The classes are only twice a week, but being paired with her means we’ll have to interact at least 3 times each week, because Sports Psychology is that big of a deal for every Northbridge athlete in senior ye

Anne-Marie’s P.O.VSomething vibrates in my lap. My heart skips. I snatch my hand out of Kaizer’s and lower my gaze, ready to pick up my vibrating phone, but it slides onto the seat. Out of the corner of my eye, I see him turning to the window. An awkward silence fills the car, except for the non-stop vibration. With a sigh, I shut my eyes for a second, push hair out of my face, and fumble for my phone. I stare at the screen. It’s a call from another unknown caller. My left brow jumps in alarm as I wonder who it is.I bite down on my lower lip and glance at Kaizer. He’s holding the steering wheel, waiting his turn. The light has turned green, and the cars ahead are already moving. My phone continues to vibrate. His gaze flicks from the road to mine. I blink and drop my eyes again, gluing them to my phone. Is it Memphis? But I blocked him.“You’re not answering that?”“I am,” I respond, sparing him a glance. Then I take a deep breath in preparation for the worst, tap my phone’s screen

Anne-Marie’s P.O.VI tap my screen at lightning speed, hanging up without a second thought. I immediately block him and raise my eyes again. My heart is racing; I’m out of breath, probably from running. But who am I kidding? Kaizer’s dark brows furrow as he comes close, putting his hands out to me. I clench my fist around my phone, let out a deep sigh, and turn away, my hand palming the bandana on my head. I pinch the fabric off my head and shut my eyes as his voice replays in my mind. It’s Memphis.“What’s wrong?” Kaizer questions behind me, his voice gentle and filled with concern. All I can do is take another deep breath. How on earth did he get my number? And who told him it was okay to call me? Give my wristwatch to Marcus; he’ll return it to me. Is that so hard to understand? “Anne-Marie?”I drop my left hand from my head, lift my lids as I sigh, and slowly turn to face the prince standing behind me. My eyes lock with his beautiful light brown eyes; he’s standing only two step

It’s very thoughtful of her.Guilt slowly cinches my chest.“Do you have his wristwatch?” Rissa asks, sliding her hand out of mine to grip my arm. I meet her gaze, and she says, “Why would you even have his wristwatch?”“I don’t have his wristwatch. I told him I’d give him one. I just forgot.” The lie continues, adding to the guilt already suffocating me. Then I turn to Ashley. “Tell him I’d bring it tomorrow.”“He said you don’t have to bring it yourself. You shou

Memphis’s P.O.VI swear under my breath, tousling my hair with my left hand as I reach for the diner’s door handle. My eyes stay glued to the tempered glass, narrowing for a moment and straining to scan what’s happening inside. All I see are moving figures. Lots of them. With a deep sigh, I pull the door to myself and stroll in, the bell’s jingling keeping my senses alert. The smell of pastries and shakes wafts into my nostrils. Before anything else, with stealth, I slide my eyes to the packed counter, looking over people’s heads as they request orders. No sign of her.Thank goodness.Relief floods me.“Memphis?”My gaze shifts to my left, stopping on Rissa, who is already seated on the table in a booth, her dark hair straightened, wearing a short denim skirt, boots, and her legs crossed, her hand raised in greeting. A beautiful grin is plastered on her face. She’s not alone. Two of her friends are seated at the opposite banquet, waving at me. I wave back. Returning Rissa’s smile, I

Anne-Marie’s P.O.V‘Keep your eyes on me, Princess…’ Champ’s alluring voice echoes in my mind, his voice muffled by something I can’t figure out as he locks our fingers above my head. My lashes flutter; my chest swells with every soft, audible breath I take, and when I blink again, I finally see him clearly, right above me. The most gorgeous man I’ve ever set my eyes on. Blue eyes that dazzle like luminous snowflakes. Sandy brown hair falls over his eyes, and a corner of his mouth lifts into a smirk. My heart is running a marathon, beating faster by the second. He drops his weight on me. And I shut my eyes, squeezing his hands so tight as he goes in gently the second time. A deep moan escapes my throat, my head falling back on the pillow. It’s bad enough that I’m doing something as reckless as getting laid for the first time by a stranger, but now we’re going a second time without protection. His lips cover mine, silencing every fear and worry as we kiss and move in sync. Gasping, I
