Chapter one
Aphrodite
I watched the clock, willing the minutes to tick by. I just wanted to get out of this office, go home, and collapse onto my bed. The day's work had left me feeling drained, and I was just counting the minutes until I could leave. As I waited, I glanced around my office, not really paying attention to anything in particular. My gaze landed on a painting that had been placed there by the company. It depicted an eagle, gazing sorrowfully at a fish in the water. The fish looked sadly back at the eagle.
It seemed like an impossible kind of love, doomed from the start. I wondered what had inspired the artist to paint such a scene. What had they been through that made them think of a love between a fish and a bird? I admired the way the painting captured such a strange and yet relatable feeling. Whenever I looked at it, I felt a sense of wonder and curiosity.
As my eyes swept the room, taking in the vase of flowers, the fine wood of the desk, and the apple laptop that was provided by the company, the door crashed open, making me leap to my feet.
"Oh my gosh, you scared me!" I exclaimed, my heart still pounding. I glared at Phoebe, who was snickering at me with a wicked grin on her face. She had clearly enjoyed scaring me, the little sneak!
"Sorry, scaredy cat," Phoebe said, clearly not sorry at all. She had done it on purpose, the little troublemaker! I'd met Phoebe on my second day at work when I'd gotten lost looking for my office. I'd confidently told the manager I could find my way around, but ended up walking into her office instead, thinking it was mine. She'd scrambled to hide the food she'd been snacking on, thinking it was the boss. When she realized it was just a newbie, we'd bonded over the mortifying situation and had become fast friends.
"What's got you so deep in thought?" she asked, interrupting my trip down memory lane.
"I was just remembering the day we met," I replied, smiling as Phoebe burst into laughter.
"I thought you were the manager doing an inspection, and I totally freaked out!" she said with a chuckle. "I bet you were so confused when you saw me stuffing a muffin into my mouth, huh?"
"You have no idea," I replied, laughing along with her. "So, do you have something important to tell me, or did you just come to scare the life out of me?" I teased.
"Oh yes, I had something important to tell you!" she said, giving me a mischievous smirk. Goosebumps rose on my skin as I waited for her to speak. "Tonight we're going out clubbing, and before you say no, you're coming whether you like it or not," she said firmly.
“I don’t think I will go with you this time, maybe a next time. I’ve got to really use my bed,” I argued weakly, and watched as she snickered at me.
“I don’t think I will go with you this time, maybe a next,” she mimicked me. “This is the same excuse you have been giving me, but this time, even if I have to drag you along, you are going. Now, get your bag and let’s go, it’s time to get ready, and buy the way I already bought you a dress, so there u it is no more excuses for you,” she said folding her hands as she smirked at the unhappy expression resting my face.
We glared at each other, neither one of us willing to back down. Finally, I caved in under her intense gaze. "Fine, I'll go with you," I relented.
Her eyes lit up as a grin spread across her face, making me momentarily forget that she had practically strong-armed me into coming along. I grabbed my handbag and my phone, slipping the device into the bag, and we left the office.
We greeted our coworkers as we made our way to the elevator. We stepped into the elevator, and soon we were exiting the building.
"By the way, I invited Bianca and Khloe," Phoebe said as we approached the parking garage. My eyebrows furrowed at the mention of Khloe's name.
"And why would you do that without telling me first? You know she doesn't like me, and I don't like her either," I said. Khloe and I were like oil and water; we didn't mix, and she seemed intent on making my life miserable. I didn't really care what she thought of me, but I didn't relish the thought of spending an evening in her company.
"I'm sorry," she said, sounding genuinely apologetic. "I was just so excited about going out, and I wasn't thinking when she asked if she could come along. I know you don't get along, and I never meant to upset you."
I sighed, my anger deflating in the face of her sincerity.
"It's okay, as long as she keeps her mouth shut. Otherwise, I might just strangle her," I said, half-joking and half-serious. Phoebe's eyes widened in surprise, but before she could say anything, I heard my name being called from behind me.
"Aphrodite," I turned around and bumped into a solid wall of muscle. My pout grew more pronounced as I rubbed my already aching forehead.
"Ouch! I'm so sorry!" a deep, masculine voice said from above me. I looked up and saw a man looking down at me with concern. He was tall, with broad shoulders and tousled dark hair. There was a hint of laughter behind his apologetic eyes. I had the strange feeling that I knew him, though I couldn't quite place where I'd seen him before.
“It’s alright, how can I help you?” I asked wondering how he knew my name, and where I had seen him.
Chapter Two Aphrodite “I’m Knox. We met on the day of your interview.” He answered, but I felt there was more to it, but I shrugged it off. I couldn’t remember meeting a man named Knox on my interview day, probably, I’ve forgotten. “Oh! Nice to meet you. Although I can’t remember meeting you, but it’s fine. You work here?” I asked. I could see Phoebe from the corner of my eyes face palming her face at the stupidity of my question, and I couldn’t help the blush that covered my entire face. “I..don’t mind my question, obviously you work here.” I rambled, biting my lips nervously. It was a thing I had always done if I was embarrassed, or nervous. He stared at me before chuckling deeply. "It's okay, I was just stopping by to say hi," he said with a grin. "I can tell you guys are busy, but could I get your contact info?" He asked without missing a beat.I could practically hear Phoebe swooning next to me. She had always had a soft spot for men who were assertive and knew what they wa
Chapter Three Aphrodite "There they are!" Phoebe exclaimed as we walked towards Bianca and Khloe, who were sitting on the bar stools, sipping their drinks and flirting with some guys."Hey, Phoebe. You looked great and sexy," Khloe whispered the last part with a smirk. The redhead was dressed in a black net gown that reached up to her hips and completely exposed her cleavage.“Why, thank you!” Phoebe responded in a fake British accent. "Aphrodite, you look stunning!" Bianca exclaimed. Her wide-eyed expression made me feel exposed, like she could see right through me. I tried to ignore the curious stares of the men and the jealous look in Khloe's eyes."Goodness, I guess the Virgin Mary decided to come out to play," Khloe said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. I couldn't help but feel a little put off by her comment. I knew she was used to being the center of attention, and that she probably resented me for taking some of the spotlight.I tried to ignore Khloe's comment, turning my
Chapter Four Thorne Rocco I sat in the VVIP suite, taking in the scene below. I had just opened my new club, Silent, and it was already becoming the hottest spot in the city. It was part of a new investment I had made upon returning from my time in Italy. I was eager to see if it would be as successful as my other ventures."I heard you and Annabel broke up," Enzo said, swirling the wine in his glass. "What happened?"I smiled, thinking of the ridiculousness of the situation. "Well, it's kind of a funny story. Apparently, she had been having an affair with her 'uncle', or at least that's what she told me. But, of course, it turned out that he wasn't her uncle at all, and she was just using me for my money." I shook my head, laughing. "I couldn't believe it when I found out.”"What the hell?!" Enzo said, staring at me with wide eyes. I took a long drink of water, trying to calm myself down. My eyes drifted back to the dance floor, watching the crowd move to the music. I looked up as
Chapter Five Aphrodite I stumbled up the stairs, my mind a blur of confusion and longing. I felt a burning sensation within me, a longing for something I couldn't place. My body felt hot, and I shivered as goosebumps rose on my skin. I reached the top floor, and tripped as I stumbled in front of a room. The bright light made my eyes hurts, so I closed it. As my eyes fluttered open slowly, I saw a pair of expensive-looking shoes standing before me. My gaze traveled up, and I gasped as I saw a tall figure towering over me. He leaned down, until his face was level with mine. Words couldn't begin to describe his beauty. His eyes were the color of a stormy sky, with hints of blue sparkling in the depths. His eyebrows and lashes were full and dark, framing his eyes perfectly. His nose was long and sharp, and his lips were the color of a ripe cherry. His cheekbones were high and defined, and his jawline was chiseled to perfection. His features were so perfect, they were almost otherworld
Chapter Six Aphrodite I quickly looked away, feeling my cheeks flush with embarrassment. My body's reaction must have given him the answer he was looking for, and he removed his hands from between my legs. I wasn't sure why, but I felt a sudden surge of panic as I watched him turn away from me. In a moment of desperation, I reached out and grabbed his shirt, pulling him back towards me.My mind was racing, and I wasn't sure what I was doing. All I knew was that I didn't want him to leave, I just needed him to stay.I stuttered, my voice shaking with emotion. "Why does it matter if I'm a virgin? What's wrong with that?"He looked at me for a long moment, his face impassive. I felt like he was staring into my soul, trying to read my thoughts. Finally, he spoke, his voice steady and calm. "I don't sleep with virgins," he said, his tone matter-of-fact."Is it because of the belief that virgins tend to get emotionally attached to the person they lose their virginity to?" I blurted out, n
Chapter Seven AphroditeMy eyes fluttered down his body, and widened as I stared at his dick which was threatening to burst out of his boxers. “You awoke the beast, now you have to give him what it wants,” and with his words, he pulled of his boxer. My eyes almost fell off its sockets as i gaped at the massive veiny cock staring at me as if dripped of pre-cum. I unconsciously looked down at my clit as I imagined how on earth it was going to fit inside me. He watched my movements like a predator watching is prey. Without thinking, I made run away, but found out I couldn’t move my body. I was pinned underneath him. “It isn’t going to hurt. It will fit perfectly inside you,” he reassured, before his lips attacked mine in a soft pleasurable kiss. Spreading my leg wider, I felt something big, thick, and strong trying to penetrate through my pussy, and I tensed, trying to break through his kiss as I felt immense pain. My small, tiny hands began pushing his chest, trying to get away or
Chapter Eight AphroditeThe morning sun streamed inside, making lines on my fine as it shone brightly, arousing me from a deep sleep. My eyes fluttered half open weakly, and I stretched my hand to draw the silk curtain close, preventing the sun from entering. Wait! Silk? My eyes flew open, and I tried to stand from the bed, but fell back down, wincing in pain as I did so. The memories of last night flooded my head making me hiss as a sting of migraine hits me. “No, this isn’t possible,” I muttered, shaking my head gently. I looked down at my body, and found a black duvet covering my entire body. With shaky hands, I raised it gently to peek into it, and almost screamed seeing I was naked underneath. I looked around the room shakily, and saw my clothes, and thong, shoes scattered on the couch and floor. With trembling body, I managed to stand up from the bed, and almost wish I didn’t. Pain coursed through me, and I bit my lower lips to suppress the scream threatening to burst out
Chapter Nine Thorne I got out of the shower, my wet hair soaking the towel as I rubbed it gently on my head. I heard the room door opening and closing, and I thought it was the the maid coming to clean the room, until I got to the room and was saw no one. She had left. Strangely, I felt disappointed. I shook my head at my absurd thought. I walked to the bar at the left corner of the room, took a fruit wine and poured it the wine glass. It was the most wonderful sex I had in years. I strangely didn’t feel disgusted to have sex with a woman. In my past relationships, I haven’t been able to have sex with any of them as I would begin to develop rashes when we got intimate, even with my ex-girlfriend, Annabel. I knew I was rough with her, even though it was her first time, but I couldn’t control my animalistic instinct, as I tried to get what I was deprived off, it left me baffled to how she was able to walk out of the room. My eyes moved to the rumbled sheet on the bed, and saw blood
