5.

Alfred stared at the mirror, he closed his eyes, when he opened them again they were no longer green but a dark cat like eyes. He hated them, they reminded him of his origin each time they reminded him he wasn’t one of them. His eyes changed back to their normal green color.

‘Alfred, are you going to sleep in there’ a voice called from outside his room.

‘I’m coming’ he replied hurriedly, he took a ribbon and tied his long black hair then exited the room to meet the other bodyguards who called for him.

‘Wow, isn’t he handsome’ one of the younger body guards said, everyone agreed while Alfred just smiled. The eldest of them all which was a man in his fifties stood up and helped Alfred adjust the collar of his uniform.

‘time flies, last year you just got admitted to provincial clan now you’ll be in your second year…protect lady ivory well, you do know without her you’ll never even step foot into that clan’.

‘I know’ Alfred said smiling as he hugged the old geezer. He carried a heavy bag and walked out. He first dropped the bag in the carriage then proceeded to the dining area where he knew the hemming would be. On his way he encountered guards whom he greeted and gossipy maids who giggled girlishly when they saw him.

At last he arrived but they had started to eat he found a corner to settle in as he watched the hemming eat. He noticed an unfamiliar girl sitting in their midst because of the creature he was, he could tell at a glance she was a witch, witches were good but she gave off a chilling vibe.

He watched as the duke introduced the girl and he heard a low whisper of ivory words

‘Fuck it’.

He smirked and muttered to himself ‘when did she start muttering such crude words’. He raised his head and saw ivory staring at him with an annoyed face. He stopped smirking and looked somewhere else.

‘How did she hear my whisper’? He looked at her direction; fortunately she was staring at Keya just too intensely. He had a vague feeling ivory sensed something fishy but unknown to him she was pondering how to lock Keya up forever until she was thirty.

‘Hello’ Keya said smiling as she stared at both ivory and Ivan. Ivory felt chills run down her spine, if she didn’t have that dream she wouldn’t believe this girl who had an innocent face and a sweet smile was a vicious bitch. The vicious expression and the innocent expression of Keya merged in ivory’s mind. Ivory turned pale, she unconsciously released her powers making the temperature of the room drop.

‘Ivory’ her father called in a warning tone. She snapped out of her unconscious state making the temperature go back to normal.

Ivan continued to eat, he behaved as if Keya didn’t exist so their breakfast ended in an awkward manner.

After breakfast they all stepped outside where the carriage was waiting for them.

‘I’ll miss you’ duke hemming said as he hugged both Ivan and ivory. Ivory hugged him whole heartedly while Ivan looked bored.

‘Isn’t it good to have a family’ Chloe said while looking at the trio.

‘Are you talking to me’ Alfred asked in surprise because Chloe rarely talked to him.

Chloe snorted.

‘Who else would I be talking to if not you’ she sighed ‘wouldn’t it be nice if we both had parents to send us off as we go to provincial clan’

‘Yes, it would be’ he responded with a smile.

‘Did you just smile’ Chloe asked in surprise ‘I never see you smile’.

‘You only see me when am on duty’.

True, so basically you’re only cold when you are with lady ivory, why?’

‘None of your business’ he responded. Meanwhile Keya stared coldly as everyone interacted with each other, basically she was ignored. She gave up trying to get attention by standing alone and decided to enter the carriage which they would enter when they were done with their goodbyes.

At last they bade each other goodbyes, Ivan and ivory entered the carriage which Keya was in while Chloe and Alfred entered another carriage which had the luggage of everyone.

As the carriage moved ivory peeked out the window in excitement, she enjoyed seeing how the peasant carried on their daily activities, she also enjoyed breathing in the pollution free air it was simply refreshing.

Keya stared at ivory with jealousy which was quickly concealed when she noticed Ivan studying her. Ivan and ivory sat opposite to her.

‘I don’t like you’ Ivan suddenly said which made both ivory and Keya look at him.

‘Me’ Keya asked pointing to herself.

‘Who’s the stranger here?’Ivan asked.

‘Me’ Keya blushed.

‘at least you know your place’ Ivan snorted ‘I don’t want to see you near me, my sister nor our servants unless you are in dire need of help understand’.

‘Yes Sir Ivan’ she answered as she clenched her hands into fists. Ivory had a bad feeling about this; she stared at Ivan with worry evident in her eyes.

‘If I may ask Sir Ivan why’

‘Why… because I and my sister don’t like you that’s why, something just doesn’t seem right with you’

Ivory looked at her brother weirdly, why in Christ name would he tell her she seemed weird it would only make her guarded against them.

‘stop staring at me ivory, I told her that so she can at least learn to conceal her emotions properly and know we hemming are not easy to mess with’.

Keya’s face turned a deeper shade of red ‘didn’t he know she was there then again why was he so direct’.

Ivory couldn’t help but give her brother another look, at home she was the elder who had to take care of Ivan but in this life he took on her role, being taken care off seems oddly comfortable. She smiled then continued to look out the window while Keya was strangely composed like what happened a few minutes ago never happened.

Ivory had to commend her, she was a perfect example of a patient schemer.
