Alfred stared at the mirror, he closed his eyes, when he opened them again they were no longer green but a dark cat like eyes. He hated them, they reminded him of his origin each time they reminded him he wasn’t one of them. His eyes changed back to their normal green color.
‘Alfred, are you going to sleep in there’ a voice called from outside his room.
‘I’m coming’ he replied hurriedly, he took a ribbon and tied his long black hair then exited the room to meet the other bodyguards who called for him.
‘Wow, isn’t he handsome’ one of the younger body guards said, everyone agreed while Alfred just smiled. The eldest of them all which was a man in his fifties stood up and helped Alfred adjust the collar of his uniform.
‘time flies, last year you just got admitted to provincial clan now you’ll be in your second year…protect lady ivory well, you do know without her you’ll never even step foot into that clan’.
‘I know’ Alfred said smiling as he hugged the old geezer. He carried a heavy bag and walked out. He first dropped the bag in the carriage then proceeded to the dining area where he knew the hemming would be. On his way he encountered guards whom he greeted and gossipy maids who giggled girlishly when they saw him.
At last he arrived but they had started to eat he found a corner to settle in as he watched the hemming eat. He noticed an unfamiliar girl sitting in their midst because of the creature he was, he could tell at a glance she was a witch, witches were good but she gave off a chilling vibe.
He watched as the duke introduced the girl and he heard a low whisper of ivory words
‘Fuck it’.
He smirked and muttered to himself ‘when did she start muttering such crude words’. He raised his head and saw ivory staring at him with an annoyed face. He stopped smirking and looked somewhere else.
‘How did she hear my whisper’? He looked at her direction; fortunately she was staring at Keya just too intensely. He had a vague feeling ivory sensed something fishy but unknown to him she was pondering how to lock Keya up forever until she was thirty.
‘Hello’ Keya said smiling as she stared at both ivory and Ivan. Ivory felt chills run down her spine, if she didn’t have that dream she wouldn’t believe this girl who had an innocent face and a sweet smile was a vicious bitch. The vicious expression and the innocent expression of Keya merged in ivory’s mind. Ivory turned pale, she unconsciously released her powers making the temperature of the room drop.
‘Ivory’ her father called in a warning tone. She snapped out of her unconscious state making the temperature go back to normal.
Ivan continued to eat, he behaved as if Keya didn’t exist so their breakfast ended in an awkward manner.
After breakfast they all stepped outside where the carriage was waiting for them.
‘I’ll miss you’ duke hemming said as he hugged both Ivan and ivory. Ivory hugged him whole heartedly while Ivan looked bored.
‘Isn’t it good to have a family’ Chloe said while looking at the trio.
‘Are you talking to me’ Alfred asked in surprise because Chloe rarely talked to him.
Chloe snorted.
‘Who else would I be talking to if not you’ she sighed ‘wouldn’t it be nice if we both had parents to send us off as we go to provincial clan’
‘Yes, it would be’ he responded with a smile.
‘Did you just smile’ Chloe asked in surprise ‘I never see you smile’.
‘You only see me when am on duty’.
True, so basically you’re only cold when you are with lady ivory, why?’
‘None of your business’ he responded. Meanwhile Keya stared coldly as everyone interacted with each other, basically she was ignored. She gave up trying to get attention by standing alone and decided to enter the carriage which they would enter when they were done with their goodbyes.
At last they bade each other goodbyes, Ivan and ivory entered the carriage which Keya was in while Chloe and Alfred entered another carriage which had the luggage of everyone.
As the carriage moved ivory peeked out the window in excitement, she enjoyed seeing how the peasant carried on their daily activities, she also enjoyed breathing in the pollution free air it was simply refreshing.
Keya stared at ivory with jealousy which was quickly concealed when she noticed Ivan studying her. Ivan and ivory sat opposite to her.
‘I don’t like you’ Ivan suddenly said which made both ivory and Keya look at him.
‘Me’ Keya asked pointing to herself.
‘Who’s the stranger here?’Ivan asked.
‘Me’ Keya blushed.
‘at least you know your place’ Ivan snorted ‘I don’t want to see you near me, my sister nor our servants unless you are in dire need of help understand’.
‘Yes Sir Ivan’ she answered as she clenched her hands into fists. Ivory had a bad feeling about this; she stared at Ivan with worry evident in her eyes.
‘If I may ask Sir Ivan why’
‘Why… because I and my sister don’t like you that’s why, something just doesn’t seem right with you’
Ivory looked at her brother weirdly, why in Christ name would he tell her she seemed weird it would only make her guarded against them.
‘stop staring at me ivory, I told her that so she can at least learn to conceal her emotions properly and know we hemming are not easy to mess with’.
Keya’s face turned a deeper shade of red ‘didn’t he know she was there then again why was he so direct’.
Ivory couldn’t help but give her brother another look, at home she was the elder who had to take care of Ivan but in this life he took on her role, being taken care off seems oddly comfortable. She smiled then continued to look out the window while Keya was strangely composed like what happened a few minutes ago never happened.
Ivory had to commend her, she was a perfect example of a patient schemer.
‘Oh my Godd’ ivory moaned as she fell flat on her new bed in the dorm she was assigned in by the school, she had just completed her registration into the school and it was very tiring. She felt someone removing her shoes so she suddenly sat up.‘Chloe go rest, you’ve had a stressful day’.‘My lady, it’s my responsibility to take care of you’ Chloe said removing her other shoes. Ivory felt awkward, she still couldn’t believe her best friend was her maid; it was a very weird situation.‘Don’t worry, go do your thing’ ivory shooed Chloe then stood up and started to undress herself. Chloe smiled in appreciation.‘If you say so my lady’. Ten minutes later Chloe was already snoring. Ivory who was reading a book smiled.‘What if my brother likes Chloe here too’ ivory thought as she gazed at the sleeping Chloe. It wasn’t possible; at most she’ll be a mistress which is actually seen as illegal by the mocha church of God. Yes churches existed they had large power, they rarely involve themselves
Ivory smirked when she saw Mari panicking; she smiled at her class mates who in turn clapped as she returned to her seat. The next person was Natasha.‘Hello everyone my name is Natasha Colby, my father is knight Colby’ Natasha said. Collective gasps could be heard, everyone knew the story of how knight Colby rose to fame, he went from grass to grace.‘I’m proficient in literature, calligraphy and embroidery’.Everyone clapped as Natasha went back to her seat. At last everyone had introduced themselves.Mr. Barclay smiled ‘okay everyone today we’ll be discussing about the basics of being an elemental’.As he said this, the word ‘basic’ made out of fire appeared in the air, the whole class was surprised and some clapped.‘He has to be at least phase 3 to do that’ Tasha whispered to ivory who in turned agreed.‘Why can’t I see any witches or healers’ ivory asked Natasha.‘This is an elemental only enlightment class not a general class; you can’t expect a fire elemental to teach healers
Some hours earlierAlfred was walking alone when he saw ivory passing by with two swords, he quickly went to take her sword.‘Oh it’s you again’ ivory said but in her mind she was saying ‘oh it’s Mr. handsome’.‘Lady Ivory’ he greeted. She frowned ‘why are you so formal’.‘I’m your body guard I’m supposed to be formal my lady’ Alfred responded.‘You were smiling with Chloe the other day’ ivory stated. At first he didn’t get what she was talking about but he suddenly remembered he smiled at Chloe the day they left duke hemming mansion.‘She’s just a servant my lady’ he stated. Ivory sighed gazing at him tiredly.‘Look, am sorry okay, I don’t know if your still holding a grudge for what I did to you when we were young’ she technically had no idea about what happened.‘You’ve apologized plenty times now my lady’.‘I did?’ ivory asked I surprise ‘well those times might not be sincere but this time I am super sincere’.Alfred eyes changed before changing back to normal but it wasn’t notice
Ivory looked at Chloe in panic, she started to breathe faster. She calmed herself down, now was not the time to panic. The figure looked at her, even though he had a mask on his eyes gave her the chills. The figure suddenly rushed at her intending to get rid of her once and for all. They started to fight without weapons but their energy. He threw a fire ball which she barely dodged and he kicked her on her stomach. She moved back and held her stomach in pain. She had to survive; if she lost it meant death. She glared at him ferociously. She screamed with all her might and punched him on his nose then kicked his belly. The figure fell on the floor then used all his might to drag her leg which made her fall. The figure stood up, carried her then threw her on the wall. Ivory groaned in pain, blood flowed at the back of her head as she fell on the floor again. She looked left and saw a broken mirror shard. She took it hurriedly. The figure wanted to grab her again but she used her leg-whi
Ivory just sat sadly sat down on the sand. ‘I didn’t ask for this’.‘Sorry but it’s your fate’ Anita said.‘Fuck fate, I can’t believe a 15 year old is giving me advice’.‘Excuse me’ Anita stood up angrily ‘I’m older than your grandmother’.‘Then how old are you’.‘I stopped counting after two thousand years’. Ivory looked at her and sighed, she wanted to go back home so badly, she missed her phone, she missed instagram and tiktok, she missed watching movies on TV why did she come to a backward civilization.‘Take that’ Anita said throwing a random book at ivory which she caught.‘What’s this?’ ivory asked.‘A technique on how to hide or disguise your phase’ Anita answered.‘I don’t need it besides there’s the library at the academy, I can pick any technique book’.Anita sighed ‘you are already in phase two you don’t want any one finding out about that and my technique book is ancient, the first copy ever made without alteration or mistakes, do you know how expensive it is, no amount
Two hours laterThe stick was long abandoned on the ground; ivory crouched on the ground panting tiredly.‘This is pure torture’ ivory murmured tiredly.‘No, it’s pure training…I give you ten minutes to rest’.Ivory caved in to her tiredness and intentionally collapsed on the floor. Ten minutes passed in a blink.‘Time to get up’ Anita said staring at ivory.‘Leave me alone, I’m tired’.‘Okay, but don’t come running when you end up like the ivory in your dreams’ Anita stated getting ready to leave.‘Wait’ ivory called out gritting her teeth, she stood up. ‘Let’s do this’.Anita smirked as if she had been expecting her answer; she turned around and gave ivory a black silk.‘What should I do with this’ ivory stared at it with question marks all over her face.‘Blind fold yourself; I would like to teach you how to fight blindly’. Ivory scoffed, she couldn’t even fight her properly when she could see now she had to fight blind folded, her day just got worse. She picked the stick up she dr
After the whole confusing and awkward scenario, they both left. Ivory walked towards were Chloe was. She sat on a stool and stared at Chloe’s pale face then sighed. She held Chloe’s hand and slowly transferred her energy according to the books she read in her soul space it was dangerous to transfer a ice elemental energy to that of a wind elemental but It was easy. Chloe’s pale face became a little bit rosier; she smiled happily and promised to do this every day until Chloe woke up. A week later ivory and her instructor who taught weaponry were engaged in very tough battle, all the students were surprised at ivory’s improvement but ivory knew that it was Anita’s handiwork. At last the battle ended with a draw. Mrs. Fiona nodded her head proudly as they both redrew their weapons, Mrs. Fiona reduced her power to that of a phase one or else ivory would have being utterly defeated. ‘Keep it up ivory’. Ivory smiled and winked at Natasha who smirked in return. Keya watched them in jealo
Ivory was standing in front of the training room for elementals, in front of her there were four doors which had the inscription of fire, water, wind and earth. She opened the door which had which had the inscription of water and entered, she encountered two more doors which were water and ice, she entered the door with the door ice and encountered seven more doors…again. ‘How many doors more do I have to open’ she wondered as she stared at the door with the inscription of phase two. She couldn’t enter phase one because it would never be useful to her but if she entered phase one people might get suspicious. She sighed as she opened the door and met a petite girl behind a big table. Ivory couldn’t see her face but she had the urge to laugh, she had no idea they understood the concept of receptionists. Ivory went closer; she noticed the girl was absentminded so she hit the table gently. The girl suddenly raised her head, she widen her hazel eyes in surprise ‘ivory’ ‘Hazel’ ivory g
