Maya’s pov

What? Mate? No, it must be a mistake.

I tried to deny it, but the minute his wolf started to walk towards me, I froze. It was as though the world around us stopped existing and we were all by ourselves. His aura got stronger with each step he took. His scent continued to pull me into a reverie, and it didn’t help that Eleanor kept calling him mate.

So I was his mate? Not Rachel? Was that the reason he pushed her away? It gave me hope. Perhaps I still had a chance at having a happy ending.

I gazed deeply into his emerald eyes, glistening in the moonlight. Everything came to a standstill when he stopped in front of me. If wolves could talk, Eleanor would have screamed at the top of her lungs. The entire forest seemed to remain silent as our wolves just stared at each other. My heart thumped in my chest as I wondered what went through his mind.

If what Eleanor felt was true, his wolf also should be confirming that we were mates. The question was, would he want me as his luna
