Roberto saw all this and became even more regretful. He had foolishly thrown away gold and settled for hardened ordure in the form of Miriam.

He hated himself, and with his company now performing poorly, on the verge of bankruptcy, he took to drinking, further repulsing his unhappy wife. Out of spite, she handed him divorce papers, demanding half of what he owned.

He signed it and let her go. He eventually sold his mansion and relocated to an apartment in a quiet neighborhood or more precisely, the neighbourhood where Lily dwelled.

Even though he knew he wasn't worthy, he still wanted to try his luck at winning her back, and he was determined to do so regardless of shame and public scorn.

One morning, while preparing to get into her daily ride, Lily was unexpectedly stopped by Roberto. He fell to his knees and begged her for forgiveness, promising he would make it up to her, but she ignored him.

Just as she wanted to enter the car, he brought out a pocket knife and threatened to kill himself. However, Lily wasn't fooled; she got into the car and asked the driver to move the car.

Roberto didn't expect her to be this ruthless, but he wasn't dissuaded.

Unknown to him, that same pesky influencer who climbed into Lily's ward in the past hadn't repented. He had been secretly lurking around the neighbourhood and was lucky to witness this scene. He posted the video online and saw his page bloom with new followers and, of course, trolls.

When Lily saw the video, which was titled, Chief Designer Of Fawn Corporation Is Heartless?!, she wasn't fazed but considered it as Roberto's disgrace.

A few days later, someone ferreted out the fact that Lily was Roberto's former wife. This person also posted a picture of Roberto trapping Lily to the wall on the night of her welcome party months ago. And this person also posted a video of Miriam acting all pitiful, blaming Lily for her failed marriage.

Unfortunately, Miriam didn't get the desired outcome as she'd wanted. Many were in support of Lily, calling Roberto a scumbag and Miriam a two-faced, madcap schemer.

Miriam left the country in disgrace.

Lily's biological father had been trying to reach her for months, but nothing was working. His business had long collapsed, and he needed money for an operation.

He decided to stand on the rooftop of the hospital building, threatening to commit suicide if Lily didn't come to see him.

Some trolls started spreading rumours that Lily had deliberately cast her father aside after attaining glory.

Unexpectedly, before Lily could even attempt to solve the issue, a man already did it for her. He ferreted out the deal Lily's father had with Roberto years ago, along with several other misdeeds he had committed.

He was Rhayn Storm, the leader of the Zilgex consortium. Having taken an interest in Peony upon his return to the country, he set out to woo her.

After three months, she finally warmed up to him and kissed him on their first dinner date. It was later announced that Lily would be getting married to him in two months, and the wedding would be unprecedented.

...

Lily eventually gave her father the money for the operation and some other funds to live his life without bothering her. She also told him he wasn't allowed to be present at her wedding.

Rhayn's parents and his younger sister loved Lily and couldn't wait for the two to get married. However, unknown to them in the shadows was Vanessa Hughes, the only daughter of the CEO of the Camdrix empire, Nolan Hughes.

She had long fancied Rhayn, and seeing he'd returned from abroad, she had planned on how to seduce him and climb his bed. Unexpectedly, he started going after a designer, Peony.

So she started doing all she could, cooking up several schemes to tear the couple apart. But when nothing worked, she decided to contact the leader of a famed gang two cities away. She would pay him handsomely as long as Lily was marooned on a remote island and left for dead.

Unknown to them, one of the gang members was an informant, and he quickly informed Rhayn, who thanked him for his help, promising him a good reward.

On the day that Lily was supposed to be kidnapped, the police went to the gang's base, and after an intense gun shootout, the criminals were finally apprehended.

Rhayn also sued Vanessa in court for attempting to harm his fiancée. Vanessa kept pleading innocent even when evidence of her misdeeds was shown to the judge.

She expected her father to bribe the judge behind the scenes, and then she would be freed once the case was decided in her favour. But to her dismay, the judge declared her guilty and sentenced her to serve two years in prison.

She repeatedly cried for her disappointed father while being dragged away to the police van.

With everything having been settled, Rhayn and Lily got married on a chosen date, with even the city's mayor attending.

The wedding was indeed the grandest in history and became the talk of the city for weeks.

A few months later, Lily and her husband attended a family gathering to celebrate Rhayn's sister's birthday. But halfway, Lily felt nauseous and rushed to vomit twice, making everyone concerned.

After being checked by the family doctor, Lily was ultimately declared pregnant, causing the family to rejoice.

Rhayn scooped Lily up in his arms and did a slow spin before kissing her, "Thank you, Lily. You've made me the happiest man in the world,"

And then, they kissed again amidst cheers and applause from those present.

The End!

Mijyne Event Hall.Roberto alighted from the vehicle and headed to the other side to open the door for his wife. Not that he was trying to be a sweet gentleman. No, he didn't even want to show his face at whatever event Miriam was going to.But... for the sake of his reputation and freedom, he had to.He was dressed in a beaded blue suit jacket, black pants and an equally black turtle-necked inner shirt. He helped his wife out of the car and gently shut the door behind her. She was wearing a beige-coloured sequinned gown that accentuated her curves and height. Miriam was indeed beautiful. A pity she had become a shrew and a blackmailing spouse.Whatever, he just wanted to get this function over with and retire to bed for good.He had decided. He would be sleeping in the guestroom tonight for some peace of mind. This place lived up to its fame. Just the parking lot spoke of grandness and riches. He could see several people, dressed elegantly, making their way over to the event hall.Re

He scowled, his brows tightening. Wh-what was she saying? What did she mean by those words?"If it weren't for you, how would he die?" Miriam continued, her confidence seemingly starting to soar.Roberto was honestly confused. How could she say such a thing?"You're trying to play mind games? That's not going to work on me," She scoffed. "This isn't a game. Roberto, mention one word about divorcing me again, and I'll help you tear down your image. You'll watch from behind bars as your treasured company hits its most-deserved nadir," Having let out this warning, she made a sharp pivot, heading towards the room's exit.Roberto, though flustered, didn't attempt to stop her. For all he knew, he was innocent. He would never kill anyone.Seeing that he wasn't frantically following her, Miriam stopped in her tracks but didn't turn back. "You do recall Myles, right?"Myles...."Myles Watson. He used to be your rival in love." Roberto remembered that man. Indeed, he had once felt the latter

"Get lost!" Miriam barked, feeling her ire increase at their presence. They weren't welcome here!"W-we saw nothing," Leona said, turning to take her leave."Sorry, ma'am. S-sorry sir," saying this with a slightly tremulous voice, the gatekeeper also made a sharp pivot and quickly followed after the ravenette."Miriam, you slapped me?!" Roberto asked, eyes widened, his tone a meld of rage and disbelief. His wife scoffed, arms folded over her chest, feet set in defiance. "I did. And so? What will you do?" she taunted."I don't hit women. But you're pushing me,""Do it if you dare," she dared him again, looking confident that he wouldn't. "See if I won't get you arrested for domestic violence."Without warning, he closed the distance between them and circled his right fingers around her throat, quickly lifting her off the ground, his eyes blazing with fury. "You bitch!"Miriam was both stunned and fleyed. She'd never expected he would do this to her. Her legs kicked about as she tried t

“I’m not going to sign that rubbish,” she spat, hitting the table once more, even harder this time.“You bitch!” Roberto was compelled to curse, his hands fisted by his sides. How dare she refuse after the lengths he’d taken to get the document ready? She was the one who fucking wanted a divorce, so convinced about it. No, she had to sign the papers and exit his home today.“Miriam, sign the papers and leave if you don’t want to get hurt.”“Get hurt?” she scoffed, a mocking laugh, “You should be more worried about yourself. You think you can survive without me?” she pointed conceitedly at herself as she asked this.“I was, before you returned to the country. And I was doing even better back then,” he shot back.“So you’re saying I’m not as good as your ex, huh? That classless Lily?”“Whatever you think. I don’t have time for your tantrums."Miriam’s face became uglier. She lunged at her husband, intending to hit him, but he grabbed her right hand, his face stern.“You want to hit me?”
