(Allen’s POV)

The photo looked like the end of a movie: Damien and Evelyn, lights soft on their faces, smiles polished for the cameras. Play-acted closeness. Perfect PR. Perfect lie.

I stared at the image until the edges blurred. My mouth tasted like iron. I should have expected it, Evelyn had always been bold. She’d stormed a party and walked away with more than attention. She’d walked into Damien’s orbit and lodged there like a splinter.

Useful? No. Not anymore.

Reo hovered nearby, pretending not to watch me. His phone glowed with whatever small, meaningless task occupied him. I let him pretend.

An idea slid into place like a blade.

“How about we leak Aethelred?” I said, loud enough for him to hear. The room shrank to the two of us. “Pin the mess on Evelyn.”

Reo blinked, slow. “Leak the project… on her? Boss, that would—”

“—destroy her,” I finished. “She wants to play queen? Fine. If she can’t be the queen I bend to, I’ll make her a scapegoat. Scare the board. Rue the invest

(Damien’s POV)The shrill ring of my phone dragged me out of sleep before dawn. No breakfast. No pause. Just a quick shower and straight to work. When I stepped into the office, Mr. Albert’s face was a thundercloud. Colt stood off to the side, pale and stiff, like someone awaiting a sentence. My gut tightened. Something was wrong.I dropped my briefcase on the desk. “What happened?”Mr. Albert didn’t speak. He just handed Colt his phone, and Colt slid it across the table to me. One glance at the screen and my stomach flipped. Aethelred project—our crown jewel—its documents splashed across a confidential forum.I clenched my jaw. “How the hell did this happen?”Mr. Albert’s voice rose, sharp and cold. “I warned you, didn’t I?”I lifted my eyes to his. “You warned me about Evelyn, not about the project leaking.”He leaned in, his stare like a blade. “Don’t you get it? She leaked the documents.”A bitter laugh escaped me. “No. She didn’t.”Mr. Albert’s brow furrowed. “And how are you so

  • Dear Ex-husband, I'm back for revenge    Chapter 12 – Fractured Guard

(Damien’s POV)I woke up feeling strangely energized. Why wouldn’t I? I won the deal yesterday, all thanks to my wife.My wife.Even thinking it felt dangerous. But beneath the small victory, a bigger question coiled in my head like a snake. Why did she do that? Why did Evelyn step in, calm and radiant, and save me when she was supposed to be the one tightening the noose?Maybe she’s already coming back to me. Maybe it’s part of the revenge game.Jeez, I’m so confused.Charles was right. I think I’m losing it. With Evelyn, I don’t think I can last long. I have to keep my guard up in the office, keep it up at home and even in my own head.Maybe she’s really trying to love me again.No. She’s not.My mind feels split in two, one side defending her, the other defending me.Well… judging from the contract I signed, the company is hers. She won’t want to bring it down with me, right? No. She wouldn’t.Would she?I pressed my palms to my eyes and let out a shaky breath. I don’t know what to

(Evelyn’s POV)The limo door opened, and the noise outside hit like a wave. Flashbulbs, voices, the hungry buzz of people waiting for a show.Damien stepped out first, tall and untouchable, and when his hand reached for me, I didn’t hesitate. I placed mine in his, smooth and steady, because that’s what they expected from Evelyn Blackwood—control, elegance, power wrapped in silk.He didn’t stop at my hand. His arm slid around my waist, pulling me close, close enough that the cameras caught it. Possessive. Intentional. Like he was saying to the world, She’s mine. The crowd erupted. Whispers rose and broke like waves.“That’s her…”“They’re back together?”“Unbelievable…”I lifted my chin, smiling with practiced ease. This wasn’t the first time I’d faced a storm of stares. I’d walked into a gala once and shattered reputations with just my words. A crowd never scared me. Attention never rattled me.But Damien’s touch—that was different. It wasn’t fear that stirred under my skin. It was so

(Evelyn’s POV)Colt led me through the hall and into my office. I glanced around once, my lips curving. A corner office. Right next to Damien’s.Perfect. A queen needs her throne close to the king if she plans to topple him.I sat for a while, went through the paperwork Colt handed me, signed what needed signing, and slipped the rest aside. The work didn’t matter. What mattered was that I had planted myself in Damien’s world again, close enough to watch every twitch of his jaw, every frown he tried to hide. When I finally rose and stepped out, I felt their eyes. Every single one of them. The stares burned from every corner, admiration, envy, whispers. I didn’t expect anything less. After all, I was the woman who had stormed into that party and cut the dreams of a hundred girls who wanted Damien. That thought alone warmed me.I kept walking, my heels sharp on the tiles, dismissing them with a tilt of my chin. Let them whisper. Let them hate. They would learn soon enough—I wasn’t here

(Damien’s POV)“Finally, you’ve lost it. I’m serious this time — I need to book you into a psychiatric ward, because I cannot keep calling myself friends with a lunatic. There’s no other explanation for this level of strategic suicide.”Charles’ voice came at me before the door had even closed. He followed me inside, clutching his coffee like it was holy water, pacing like he was waiting for a camera crew to record his grand monologue.I loosened my tie and sank into my chair. “Charles, must you always deliver my eulogy before the body is cold? Stop turning every little thing into an obituary headline.”He spun around, his eyes wild. “Little thing? Damien, you just let the devil stroll into the company like it’s her living room. You didn’t just let her in — you gave her a desk. A desk! What’s the next phase of your surrender? Handing over the corporate seal?”“Strategic decision,” I corrected, calm as ever. “And for your own sake, stop calling her that. If Evie hears you, you’ll lose
