Chapter 6

“My lord, this question does not require an answer at the moment. You are injured and bleeding, the bleeding has not slowed down enough for either of us to entertain questions that we already know the answer to. Please hold still, I still have to get that spot that is still bleeding.” Madison said to the alpha and made it her mission to avoid his gaze as she worked on him.

She too did not have a definite answer to that question, so she could not give it to him.

When she was done dressing the wounds with the straps of her dress that she tore off, she looked up to see the alpha fighting consciousness. She looked around the cave to find more things to add to the fire and keep it going.

By the time she turned back to the alpha he was out, though from the way his eyes were moving behind his lids, she knew he was not in deep sleep just yet.

She wanted to wash her face and arms, there was blood everywhere and there was nothing to use to cart water into the cave. Guess she was going to have to go out and wash up then. But she had to be careful not to attract unwanted attention her way. The alpha was injured and recent happenings has proved that she was lacking in actual combat skills.

Maybe when she got back to his pack she would throw herself back into training, that way she would not be a sitting duck for anyone.

Madison found a stream not far from the cave and set to work washing her hands and face. When it was rid of blood, she made a beeline for the cave, not wanting the alpha to wake up and come after her again.

But there were a lot of questions that she had that needed to be answered.

First being that what was this forest behind the red galaxy pack? Was it an enchanted forest? And why was this not public knowledge?

That was the only explanation she could come up with because one second she was running merrily, with a goal in mind of getting far away from this pack. Then she was being chased by a whirlwind which she turned to confront hoping to reveal the mastermind behind it but instead she lost her memories and woke up in a cave.

One that the alpha she was running away from found her in, very suspicious. Her wolf was also lost and restored under a few hours, then the beast that she could not identify but helped Alpha Caden send on its merry way with some souvenirs. There was a lot that needed to be explained.

But right now, Alpha Caden had to wake up so that they could at least get back to his pack. Then from there she would find her way back to her birth pack.

This deal that he was proposing to her was insane!

He wanted her as his wife only if she would court his affections? What happened to him courting hers? And the way he was talking down to her when she said no was nerve wracking.

Madison sighed as she took a seat on the floor next to his sleeping form. The fire was not doing much but he was not shivering, which she decided to interpret as a good thing. The horse suddenly neighed and Madison felt her heart leave her body at the unexpected sound.

Darn animal!

The horse walked close to the fire and just stood there. Madison wondered what type of a horse this was, normally horses stay away from werewolves or so she was told. So it was really weird seeing one not remotely scared of the two of them.

Madison sat up and stared into the fire, completely lost in thoughts. So lost in thoughts that she did not realize that she had fallen asleep, and that she was being watched from the shadow.

Alpha Caden blinked his eyes open some hours later. He was feeling hot, like he was running a fever. He laid his hand on his forehead and sighed when he did not find it warm, so where was this heat coming from?

It was coming from the right side of his body and he saw that it was Madison who was fast asleep and gummed to his body. She was the one that was warm, what kind of an adult werewolf has a fever?

He touched her forehead and she was warm. He looked up to see that his horse was also asleep. Then he felt her shiver, her dress had been cut short to tend his wounds and now she was shivering from the cold that he was now beginning to feel.

His wounds had also stopped bleeding but he was not a hundred percent well, all he could do for now was shift in order to provide warmth for her in his wolf form. Hopefully it does not worsen her fever.

Alpha Caden took a moment to admire her sleeping face. She had washed off the blood and sand from her face, he wondered when she had taken care of it and chose to ask her when she woke up.

He moved her away from his body, laid her against the wall before moving a little to gain space to take up his wolf form. As soon as he shifted, he felt that they were no longer alone in that cave and whoever was in there with them was masking their presence to their best capacity.

Meaning that he too could not pin point where they were.

He stretched out his wolf form who was still stiff from the earlier fight. When he was stretched enough to spring into action should the need arise, he then curled around Madison’s sleeping form. Madison wasted no time in laying her head on his shoulder and snuggling close to his body.

Tomorrow was going to be interesting.
