Chapter 7

Madison woke up feeling very warm, her fingers moved and treaded the material that was used to produce such amount of heat. The material hummed and so did her, then her eyes shot open.

Blankets do not hum, blankets did not have heartbeats.

Heart beats? She surged up to see Alpha Caden looking at her with expressionless eyes. Of all the people to embarrass herself in front of, she chose the one guy she was trying to act like his words did not affect her.

She took in her environment to see that she had tucked herself so closely to him that it could be mistaken that he slept on her or that they had sexual relations in the night. Good thing they were all alone and she could die in peace out of embarrassment.

Alpha Caden suddenly shifted into his human form and Madison did not have enough time to look away, the image of his naked body immediately stuck to her head. He looked hot!

“No Madison Roberts, you shall not entertain such thoughts.” Madison mentally scolded herself and her attention was brought back to the real world when alpha Caden spoke to her.

“I think we should head out now, we have spent too much time in these woods.” Alpha Caden and began walking towards the exit of the cave where he whistled loudly and returned to put out the fire that was almost burnt out and then clear the ashes as well. When Madison rose to help him he gave her a look and she sat back down.

The horse from earlier soon arrived and Alpha Caden lifted Madison off the floor and set her on the horse wordlessly. Then he too climbed on and they began the journey back to the palace. It was a painful journey to say the least for Madison as she was not used to horse riding.

Whenever she saw movies where they went horse riding, they seemed to be having fun but her behind would thank her if she never got on another horse.

Wordlessly, alpha Caden dismounted the horse and lifted Madison off it as well. As soon as the horse was taken away he turned to look at her.

“Come.” Was all he said to her before he too began walking in the opposite direction that the horse was taken to. With a huff she followed him, murmuring to herself about how rude he was. Alpha Caden heard her alright but he did not make any comment.

Her opinions were her own and they affected nothing that concerned him.

They walked straight to his chambers with maids running out of his way as they went. Was this how they lived here? Madison thought to herself. In the pack where she was coming from the pack members had great respect for the alpha but none feared him so much so that they ran away from him as he approached.

Unless they were doing something wrong then it was perfectly sane for them to run.

The doors to the chambers closed with a loud bang and Alpha Caden rounded on Madison. She had to remind herself not to cower in his presence. After all there was nothing he could do to her without starting a war between her pack and his. A needless war if she might add.

“You do realize that the last twenty four hours happened just because you could not come to terms with your current life predicament?” Alpha Caden hissed at Madison and she immediately had her hackles raised.

“Excuse me my Lord, but if I recall correctly I asked on several occasions to be sent back to my home but you chose to turn a deaf ear. Do you think you have a damsel in distress with you? I can be very resourceful should the need arise!” Madison argued back and got a raise eyebrow from the alpha.

“Resourceful you say? Damsel in distress? Need I remind you that we had to stay an extra night in that cave because of you? You can be resourceful? Why then did I not see those resources when that blasted witch came at you?!” Alpha Caden fumed back at Madison and she screamed in frustration.

“So what? Did I not help you with that horrible beast when I got my wolf back? Which reminds me you have a lot of explaining to do as regards having an enchanted forest in the back of your pack land!” Madison screamed at the Alpha and he rubbed his temple as though he was dealing with an errant child, Madison did not appreciate the gesture.

“I do not want to repeat this conversation ever with you. Stay where you are told to stay and do what you are supposed to do!” the alpha said to Madison through gritted teeth and Madison did the most stupid thing she had ever done in her life. She sized him up from head to toe.

“If you want a porcelain doll then you might as well go and get one from the city mall. I refuse to be in a place where I am disrespected at every turn and I definitely will not be at your beck and call!” Madison had barely gotten the words out before Alpha Caden was right in front of her with his hand wrapped firmly around her neck. His eyes blazing, showing the presence of his wolf.

Madison might have alpha blood flowing through her veins but she was no alpha.

“Yet you disrespect me at every opportunity you get. You dare to look down on me when I have the power to throw caution to the wind and end your existence, right here and now and brace up for the war that should come. One that I would definitely win!” Alpha Caden hissed at Madison as his hands tightened around her neck.

“I will not be having this conversation again Madison Roberts.” Alpha Caden said before storming out of the room.
