Bitter Memories

CHAPTER SIXTEEN.

"You're right. It is indeed a treasure." Chief Kaave's voice echoed in the room. Both Coco and Pearl screamed in fear, clinging to each other. Pearl had already pooped in her pants.

"Dad..is that you dad?" Coco asked, searching the room to see if at all her dad or anyone was there. She called out again, "Dad!"

"You don't have to steal the lighter. It's yours." Chief Kaave's voice came again. "You also didn't need to steal the keys to this building. I was fixing the place for you, to spend this year's Halloween, with your friends."

"Come out dad. Stop playing with me." Coco's voice suddenly became confident.

"Make sure you're back to school by tomorrow." Those were the last words Chief Kaave said, and the teenage girls didn't hear from him again. Pearl spent the whole of that night in fear. With the mindset that they were being monitored in the house, the two girls were on their best behavior that night.
