“Where is home exactly?” Desi asked as she walked with the pack all around her. Everyone wanted to get close to her for once and it was overwhelming her.

“You do not know?” the man said, “of course you don’t. it isn’t like she would have told you anything.”

“Wait my mom?” Desi asked again.

“She is not your mother.” The man nearly spat out. “There was a siege when you were little. Not even one years of age. The alpha’s wife sent you off with her so she could take you to a safe place.”

“The alpha’s wife?” Desi asked as she looked at the man in front of her. How or why would an alpha’s wife care about her to try to ensure her safety.

“Child I will let him explain it to you.” He said as he shook his head. “We have a long journey ahead of us.”

“Where are we going exactly?” Desi asked.

“To the beginning.” The man said cryptly. There was nothing left to say. Soon she was loaded into a car with her bags in the back and the car the cabin filled up with more and more people. She looked around but no one would look back at her. She wondered who any of them were.

Soon they were at the piers that were in the next town. “come along.” He said as he was walking and looking over his shoulder. At the darkest of night she was able to see every feature of the person in front of her. She didn’t like the fact no one was looking at her. When she was shown to a private cabin onot the boat she waited and heard the orders that were given tot eh people there at her door. “She is not to leave the cabin.”

“Yes sir.” The deep voice said in reply. She heard the footsteps going away from the door and she waited. She opened the door and saw one that she would think was a warrior of the pack if she had to guess. He looked like one of the top level of warrior in the pack she had had been with. “Close the door.”

“Why?” She asked back.

“Because you are not to be released because of the crew. They aren’t trustworthy.” He replied as he looked at the wall.

“why won’t you or anyone look at me.” She asked as she looked at him.

“it is not our place.” He said.

“I am just like you though.” She said. He turned to glance at her.

“You have no idea what you are do you?” he asked as he looked her over.  He looked at her in a way she had never seen before. It was so different she didn’t know what she should feel.

“No, I don’t.” she said. “as far as I knew I was a cast out from a different pack and the ones we lived with hated me and us.”

“They were lied too.” He said. “You are from one of the seven main families. The fact is you are the only surviving members of one. The head family found you and knew who you were. The Alpha’s mate saved you by sending you away.”

“Then you are what exactly?” She asked.

“I am from the royal guard.” He said. “You will be guarded by us. However the alpha wishes for you to return home right now. He has plans for you.”

“What plans?” Desi asked as she looked at this man in front of her.

“You will have to ask him.” the man said, “Now go back into he cabin princess before I get into trouble for talking to you.”

“Why would you get in trouble for talking to me?” she asked.

“Because I could lose my head.” He said as he looked at her. “I would like to keep it attached.”

“Okay.” She said as she closed the door and waited to move. She wasn’t from a royal family. She was a no one. She had to tell them that they had the wrong person. However she didn’t think that anyone would believe her until she met with the alpha of all the packs.

She had to think about what she knew about the royals families. She had not been taught much about them. Her mother hadn’t said anything about them. Only in the pack school did she even know they existed. She wondered why at the time. All the younger girls knew so much about them. They would write stories about being found by one of the men from those families and falling in love. Desi had never had those dreams like the other girls.

She had to live in the cold reality. Whatever her orginal pack was they were lost to her. She would never find a mate like the other people in the pack. If she was lucky enough she might be able to pass for a human completely and find a mate in that world. That was what she thought would have to happen. She was fine with that as well.

The world was not kind to werewolves or other things of the night like her. She wondered what things were also like her. She wondered about the ones that had to live away from the family like she did. Though she never thought to much about any of that. It seemed pointless to her. She shouldn’t dream about things she knew she could never have.

A heart without a purpose was nothing in her book. All she could do was leave the pack now. No one needed to know about this wrong identity. She would just fade away and make her way into the wider world. She could hide herself she thought. She was nothing special. She had already accepted that.

She smiled to herself. Now her mother could go back to her pack. Her brother would have a real place in the pack. She wouldn’t be there to hold them back. She could find her own place. This might not be the worst thing ever for everyone as well.
