Desi settled into the room and sat in a chair that was over fluffed and had a lot of cushioning on it. She was asleep in less than five minutes. When she woke up it was to a knock on the door. She didn’t have time to answer before the man who had led her away was opening the door.
“Are you ready?” he asked and she looked at him with a question in her eyes.
“For?” she asked as she looked at him standing there. She watched as he was getting ready to lose his temper at her. He went to raise his hand in the air as he moved to stand right before her.
“I don’t not believe the princess was ever supposed to be touched.” A deep voice interrupted the two people there.
“Ah sir.” The man said. “I do apologize sir.”
“do not apologize to me.” The man said as he walked into the room. “it is her that you must beg forgiveness from.”
“Excuse my manors, miss.” The man said.
Desi didn’t care what the man said to her she was focused on the new man in the room. He seemed to be all aware of this as well and his smile deepened. He wasn’t much older than her but in his early twenties but not any older. “Leave.” The man said as he only had eyes for Desi at the moment. When the man scurried away and out the door it shut behind him quickly. “You must have questions.”
“No one would talk to me.” Desi said.
“I do fear that may be my fault. I told them to not get any ideas above their station in the royal guard. I do apologize for that. I forgot how confusing this must be for you. Though I do have to say you look much like you did so many years ago.” The man said.
“Who are you?” Desi asked.
“We do not have the titles royals normally do. However I am from the first family. My name is Gabriel.” He said as he bowed.
“The first family?” she asked and then it hit her what he was saying, “You’re the head alpha?”
“Yes, Desiree.” He said with a smile.
“so my name is the same.” She said forgetting that she thought she was not the one they were looking for. “I do believe that you might have the wrong person though.”
“Show me your arm.” He said as he reached out to see it. He took a light out from his pocket and then shined it onto her arm. The light not a normal UV light it shined green and then she looked at her arm. There was a marking there that she had never seen before. It was a crest of some sort. “no my dear you are the one I seek.”
“What is going on?” she asked as she looked in his eyes and saw the flicker there.
“You are of the second family, Desiree.” He said.
“Call me Desi everyone does.” She said. He chuckled and it filled up the room and seemed to bounce off the walls.
“Well Desi. You were the surviving member of the second family. We the seven ruling families mark out infants just for this reason though it is not normal.” Gabriel said. “I have my crest on my arm as well. My mother found you along with my father. They sent you away with a young woman who was a changeling. She didn’t fit in anywhere as well as her son. They gave her a purpose. To keep you safe.”
“So she wasn’t anything to me?” Desi asked.
“Not as far as being your family.” He replied. “I understand she raised you as her own. She did a good enough job, I assume. You are here in front of me at least.”
“Why do you care so much that you would search the globe for me?” Desi asked and he looked at her.
“that should be simple.” He said as he looked at her serious for a moment. “You are my mate.”
“I am what?” she asked.
“You are my mate.” He repeated. “Is that so hard for you to believe?”
“Yes. Actually it is.” She said as she stared at him.
“I think with some polish and a few lessons you will do well enough to stand by my side.” He said. “it isn’t like we have to remain true to each other if you have another.”
“What?’ she asked surprised.
“if you grew close to another. All I ask is that you be discreet.” He said as he watched her thoughts play out on her face.
“do you have another?” she asked when she could get the words out.
“No. I always knew who my mate was. I had to stay true to you. We were sworn to be together the day after your birth.” Gabriel said as he looked at her. “I was only four but I remember the day.”
“So this is real?” she asked. “this isn’t some sick joke someone is playing on me?”
“A joke?’ he asked as he tilted his head. “No. this is real and this is happening.”
“it has to be a mistake though.” She said completely unbelieving this was real.
“I understand this will take time. For now though you need to come with me. We will be continuing this when we get you settled in the palace.” He said as he reached out his hand. “We will have to get you a wardrobe fitting of your station and some lessons on everything but that will be later or in time. We are in no rush Desi.”
“Thank you.” She said. “For at least being upfront with me.”
“Your mother and father were my godparents for lack of a better term. My mother thought she was saving you when she had you taken away, Desi. Please don’t be to harsh on her. We really don’t know much about the outside world here. My parents were yours as well.” Gabriel said as he took her hand and held it as he led the way to the top of the boat.
He looked around as did she, “Welcome home Desi.”
Desi looked around the area and it was beautiful. There were trees that lines the water way that was after the dock where the boat was. There were small villages everywhere you can see the tops of the roof of all the houses. In the middle on the island it looked like there was the large castle. on each side of where the water metal and there were large smaller versions of the main castle in the middle of the island. It was quite easy to see how the area had grown up with just this particular types of families. These were the seven ruling families of all over their kind.desi didn't exactly know how she felt when it came to seeing all this was like the first time. She didn't care that she was born here. She was still confused as to why she was taken away even though Gabriel had explained it to her why was no other of the children taken? she had a lot of questions that needed to be answered and she hoped that maybe one day she would be able to get th
“Tell me more about yourself.” Gabriel said as they continued walking through the trails that led to what looked like the main castle. she could see the turrets through the trees and knew that they were getting closer to the area there would still be quite a bit of a huge hike to get there.“there really isn't that much to tell.” Desiree said as she looked at him and then continued to look back down at the ground varian everything in her life had pretty much been a huge lie up until that point. She didn't actually know anything about herself because of it.“Tell me about the pack that you were with?” he then said as he was just trying to get any type of information from her. It seemed that she wanted to close off and he could actually understand that he might not get through to her today or even next week. What is this girl happened to go through with something that was extremely traumatic.&l
“I understand that you don't wanna go to the castle because you don't understand our way of life. How would you like it if I took you somewhere else?” he asked as he looked at her knowing that that was probably one of her biggest fears. he had already uprooted her life bye having her taken the way that she was. He had not really thought the entire plan through when he had begun the orders for it. All he could think about was his own desire to have his meat by his side.“like where?” she asked if she looked at him knowing that he could take her just about anywhere in the world and it still wouldn't matter. She would always feel like she was an outcast because she didn't know where she came from or even what her family was really like. Everything had just been ripped from her. Everything that she knew that was familiar was gone.“there's a cottage on the outside of the village. We use it to house gas but I believe
“True mates?” The question hung in the air as they made their way to the cottage that was somewhat hidden from the castle even though it was in plain sight. The air had changed as they got closer. It seemed even the small house that was there was full of secrets that she knew that she should know. She was not ready for this. She knew she had no other choice. This was her destiny. He opened the door and she walked in and then she was hit with overwhelming emotions. The house it self seemed to be the one thing that was overwhelming her. She was hit like she hah been slammed into a brick wall. There was such an overwhelming feeling of regret in the house that she didn't even understand where it came from. It seemed that things were just completely being thrown at her one at a time and there was no way for her to get away from all of the feeling that she was feeling at the moment. He seemed to understand that this was going to happen and he was rea
After the first wave of emotion came over her she was able to settle down a little bit. Desiree had never felt quite like this before and she knew that she had a lot of things to work through. She looked around the small house and even though it was nothing more than a small cottage it was probably still bigger than every house that she had lived in so far. She knew that everything in her life had been a lie. It was dealing with all of that as well as finding out the truth about her parents and the woman that she had thought was her mother. She was also working enough to understand that Gabriel was not trying to force her into understanding anything. He wasn't moving very far away from her but at the same time he was giving her enough space that she said at least begin to process everything that she had just learned. He knew that it was going to be a long period of time before she would actually be able to completely understand all of the intricaci
Gabriel didn't know how long it was going to take for her to come to the conclusion she was part of this island. That she would feel comfortable enough to actually be at the castle. he knew that he needed to get the most basic supplies so they would be able to survive while she came to grips with her new reality. he was going to have to go and find some food at the council for them to take.it wouldn't be the first time that he had raided the kitchen and the pantries but he hoped that Desiree had at least the ability to cook a little bit since he really didn't know how. He didn't wanna leave her either but he knew that he had to. “I'm going to run to the castle real quick. I'll be back in a few minutes I'll bring back food is there anything that you want specifically?” he asked as he broke the silence at the two of them headlight grow in the small room.“no there isn't anything specific that I want.” Desiree said as she looked at h
When Gabriel go back to the small cottage he saw that the door was open. He had to wonder if it was actually Desiree who had open the door at all. He hoped that it had been and nobody had been there to give her any trouble. He didn't actually wanna have to deal with anyone invading their privacy for a little while at least. That's why he didn't wanna push her to go into the castle. He knew that she needed time to adjust to her new surroundings and her new reality that was her life. If things had been different and she had been raised on the island she would be at the castle right now. On her 18th birthday she would have been transferred over to him. Do they didn't really have a real ceremony of that happening he would have taking the responsibility of her then. when he neared the door he saw her just sitting there still within the cottage but I'm for just looking out. “is everything OK?” he asked as he walked into the cottage and placed everythi
“why would you wanna know about that?” knowing that that was going to open a bunch of wounds that she really didn't need to deal with right then and there. She already had enough to deal with with realizing that pretty much her entire life had been a lie. There was a lot of things that he would say to her and he would never hold anything back just because she had the right to know what was going on for their people. Whether she realized it or not she was already there Princess. There was a lot of things that she needed to come to grips with because he was basically what would be the equivalent of a crowned Prince and they were already given to each other by their parents. An arranged marriage of sorts. He understood that she had the right to know but at the same time everything was coming to her so quickly that it was going to be an issue with the way that she had to deal with things. Mentale he didn't know if she was able to comprehend all of the small details that w
