“I understand that you don't wanna go to the castle because you don't understand our way of life. How would you like it if I took you somewhere else?” he asked as he looked at her knowing that that was probably one of her biggest fears. he had already uprooted her life bye having her taken the way that she was. He had not really thought the entire plan through when he had begun the orders for it. All he could think about was his own desire to have his meat by his side.
“like where?” she asked if she looked at him knowing that he could take her just about anywhere in the world and it still wouldn't matter. She would always feel like she was an outcast because she didn't know where she came from or even what her family was really like. Everything had just been ripped from her. Everything that she knew that was familiar was gone.
“there's a cottage on the outside of the village. We use it to house gas but I believe that you can fall under that category. That way you and I can get to know each other and that we can also figure out everything that had happened in the past. I know my mother is interested in meeting you but I didn't exactly tell her that I found you. You weren't easy to find.” He said. “They moved around a lot. Even though I knew that you were somewhere near the last place I couldn’t even get a good reading on where you really were.
“You really searched for me?” Desi asked as she stopped walking and looked at him closely.
“I had too.” Gabriel stated as he looked deep in her eyes. “Desiree regardless of how you and I are connected there are two things you have not taken in to account. The first is that you are the sitting head for the second house in charge. There are no others but you in the family. When the war happened it was like the entire line was wiped from the planet. Second you are my mate. We had the blood ceremony before the war or at the very start of it. We are one. You were not raised with the ways of our kind. I do understand that but it does not change that even if I took another lover, it would never be right.”
“What do you mean?” Desi asked as she had heard about how others rejected their mates and they got to move on. Often through an entire pack.
“When a mate is found. That is one thing. However ours was destiny by our birth’s. We were always supposed to be different. Some have a mate ceremony. Humans would call that a wedding. We are from the two ruling families though. We had a blood ceremony. They are very much the same but in a way completely different. Our blood was merged together. That only means that we have a much deeper connection. To be honest it was the only way I found you. I could call on that connection and it led me to where you were.” He stated as he took her hand in his and then began to led her on. “I do fear though that you and I have a lot of things to talk about. The more we are here though people will see and what to know all about you.”
“I don’t want to talk to anyone right now.” She said softly.
“I know.” He chuckled as he tugged on her arm. “The cottage where I will take you is safe from other people for the most part.”
She followed him with the breeze kicking off the water and even though they were no inland on the small island it was still tangy from the salt air. She had thought about this place before though it was only in dreams that must have called out to her. Gabriel was one thing she seemed to understand instinctually. He was there in front of her and knew the answers to the questions she never would voice.
He was smiling as he enjoyed touching her hand. Though he had lived his entire life alone and without his mate he wanted nothing more to explain everything to her. She had wondered what she was really was in life and she had been told she was nothing by every pack. No one would claim her but she was the princess to everything. Next in line only to her mate.
She could have all of them wiped off the planet if she chose to. She didn’t want to through. She knew there could be no more blood spilled. She was still reeling from the fact the woman she thought was her mother was not. Though in all the things she had done she was. She had helped Desi. She had cared for Desi. Even her brother who didn’t like her she now understood why. Everything made perfect sense but the emotions of those things were still going through her. She had not had time to process everything.
That would take time. Time she knew that she really didn’t have. Gabriel would give her what he could but he was also unknown. She really didn’t know how to handle the fact he was her mate. He had searched for her and brought her back home to the island they were now on. The last thing she wanted to do was rush into something with a member of the royal family. That would be too much.
She sighed as they passed the castle and then further down the lane they were on she spotted a small roof. “Is that where we were going?”
“it is.” He chuckled. “You couldn’t possibly remember why that place is special to the both of us.”
“I don’t. I don’t think I do though.” She said as she looked up to him.
“On the day of the blood ceremony we had to stay there.” He said as he looked down. “Because you were still an infant at the time we had other people there. Though that is the first place we were actual mates. If you had stayed here that would have been the place we first became true mates when you were old enough.”
“True mates?” The question hung in the air as they made their way to the cottage that was somewhat hidden from the castle even though it was in plain sight. The air had changed as they got closer. It seemed even the small house that was there was full of secrets that she knew that she should know. She was not ready for this. She knew she had no other choice. This was her destiny. He opened the door and she walked in and then she was hit with overwhelming emotions. The house it self seemed to be the one thing that was overwhelming her. She was hit like she hah been slammed into a brick wall. There was such an overwhelming feeling of regret in the house that she didn't even understand where it came from. It seemed that things were just completely being thrown at her one at a time and there was no way for her to get away from all of the feeling that she was feeling at the moment. He seemed to understand that this was going to happen and he was rea
After the first wave of emotion came over her she was able to settle down a little bit. Desiree had never felt quite like this before and she knew that she had a lot of things to work through. She looked around the small house and even though it was nothing more than a small cottage it was probably still bigger than every house that she had lived in so far. She knew that everything in her life had been a lie. It was dealing with all of that as well as finding out the truth about her parents and the woman that she had thought was her mother. She was also working enough to understand that Gabriel was not trying to force her into understanding anything. He wasn't moving very far away from her but at the same time he was giving her enough space that she said at least begin to process everything that she had just learned. He knew that it was going to be a long period of time before she would actually be able to completely understand all of the intricaci
Gabriel didn't know how long it was going to take for her to come to the conclusion she was part of this island. That she would feel comfortable enough to actually be at the castle. he knew that he needed to get the most basic supplies so they would be able to survive while she came to grips with her new reality. he was going to have to go and find some food at the council for them to take.it wouldn't be the first time that he had raided the kitchen and the pantries but he hoped that Desiree had at least the ability to cook a little bit since he really didn't know how. He didn't wanna leave her either but he knew that he had to. “I'm going to run to the castle real quick. I'll be back in a few minutes I'll bring back food is there anything that you want specifically?” he asked as he broke the silence at the two of them headlight grow in the small room.“no there isn't anything specific that I want.” Desiree said as she looked at h
When Gabriel go back to the small cottage he saw that the door was open. He had to wonder if it was actually Desiree who had open the door at all. He hoped that it had been and nobody had been there to give her any trouble. He didn't actually wanna have to deal with anyone invading their privacy for a little while at least. That's why he didn't wanna push her to go into the castle. He knew that she needed time to adjust to her new surroundings and her new reality that was her life. If things had been different and she had been raised on the island she would be at the castle right now. On her 18th birthday she would have been transferred over to him. Do they didn't really have a real ceremony of that happening he would have taking the responsibility of her then. when he neared the door he saw her just sitting there still within the cottage but I'm for just looking out. “is everything OK?” he asked as he walked into the cottage and placed everythi
“why would you wanna know about that?” knowing that that was going to open a bunch of wounds that she really didn't need to deal with right then and there. She already had enough to deal with with realizing that pretty much her entire life had been a lie. There was a lot of things that he would say to her and he would never hold anything back just because she had the right to know what was going on for their people. Whether she realized it or not she was already there Princess. There was a lot of things that she needed to come to grips with because he was basically what would be the equivalent of a crowned Prince and they were already given to each other by their parents. An arranged marriage of sorts. He understood that she had the right to know but at the same time everything was coming to her so quickly that it was going to be an issue with the way that she had to deal with things. Mentale he didn't know if she was able to comprehend all of the small details that w
“Tell me about them.” She said softly.“Your parents?” he asked. Then he realized that he had opened this can of worms himself. She really had no idea how her parents were. She didn’t know them. “your mother was one of the nicest people I'd ever met. She was my godmother. She was my mother's best friend. They were cousins I believe. Most likely they were distant cousins though. Your mother was one of those people dead it didn't matter how distant the relationship was it was always there.”“What about my father?” Desiree asked as she looked at him and was hoping that the man was nice and that he had actually enjoyed being a father.“he was a little difficult but for the most part he was one of those people that would get down and play with everybody. He did it on you. When everybody had said that you should have been a male heir he didn't care period I remember him carrying you around when
Desiree went upstairs to go take a shower and Gabriel just sat on the couch looking out the door towards the water. Her questions had brought up a lot of memories that he had forced to keep down or he was told to keep out of his head.“whatever you do make sure that my daughter stay safe.” diedra send as she looked at her best friend in the entire world. Gabriel was nothing more than a few years old at the time and they were both in the nursery with their mothers. It was one of the rare times that he had been allowed to go into the young girls nursery. He was just sitting there holding her on the floor as both their mothers looked at them. “you know as well as I do that they're gonna come for them. They'll have to go through me first to get to her and if they manage that I want you to do whatever you have to do to make sure that my daughter stays safe.”“of course, you know that I would do anything to protect both of them as
Desiree was exhausted. Last statement just hung in the air and was also one of the most damning things that she had ever heard in her entire life. The look on his face was almost completely excruciating pain just for the simple fact that he didn't wanna doubt his own mother but something in his memories was telling him that it was a lot more than what he had been told in the years afterwards. Desiree didn't have the same issues because she couldn't remember anything from before she had left play island.she went to the couch and just sat next to him and looked out the window to the trees and watched as the leaves blew in the wind. The soft sound that was coming off of the trees and the smell of the ocean will still be coming closer to the small cottage. Desiree had never been one that actually liked water that much. But right now just being able to see it off in the distance over the trees that were blowing in the wind it was a calming aspect to this that she ne
