His mistress tipped a box of clothes over the railing. Blouses and trousers spilled across the marble.

“What the fuck are you doing, Jacob?” Anna’s voice cracked across the foyer. She dropped her bag. “Hey…stop! Stop that!”

He didn’t pause. “I’m sending you out of my house. Me and my baby need some peaceful privacy.”

Anna’s eyes went wide. She crossed the floor fast. “You can’t send me packing. I’m still your wife, do you understand?”

“Wife, my ass.” He stopped on the last step, suitcase beside him, and looked down at her.

The mistress came down the rest of the stairs with a slim folder in her hand, heels clicking.

She stopped just behind him, close enough that her shoulder almost touched his arm.

Jacob’s expression didn’t change. “I want a divorce, Anna.” he said flatly.

“Finally. The wife who couldn’t keep her man in bed, the fats, You should’ve stayed in Indonesia, sweetheart. At least there nobody has to look at you.” The mistress said.

Anna’s jaw tightened.

“You can shut your mouth,” Anna said, stepping closer. “You’re the one who snuck into a married man’s life. Don’t stand there acting like you won something. You just picked up what I already decided I didn’t want.”

The mistress’s smile faded and was replaced with anger.

“After all, he chose me and dumped you after marrying you for five years, pathetic.”

“Pathetic is sleeping with someone who still has his wife's clothes in the closet,” Anna shot back. “But go ahead. Keep talking. You’re good at that when he’s not looking.”

“Enough, okay just stop ranting, papers are ready.” He nodded at the mistress. She pulled a thin folder from the side of the box she’d just emptied and held it out.

Jacob took it and tossed it at Anna’s face.

“Sign it,” he said.

Anna looked at the folder, was she that bad? She's the one that was supposed to do this, Instead he was the one.

All she did was love this man, let him have her, she smiled bitterly, bent, picked the folder up, and opened it.

Her name was already typed on the first page. His signature sat at the bottom of the last one, dated yesterday.

She didn’t argue. She walked to the small table close to her, pulled a pen from her bag, and signed every line her signature was needed.

When she was done, she closed the folder and held it out.

“There,” she said. “You wanted it. You have it. Now both of you can go to hell.”

The mistress opened her mouth again.

Anna cut her off before the first word landed. “I said go to hell. That includes you. You can keep the house, the bed, and whatever story you’re telling yourself, I’m done.”

She turned to the suitcase, packed her belongings, zipped it and grabbed the handle.

Outside, the taxi Jacob called for her was waiting. She opened the trunk, shoved the suitcase in, then got into the back seat with her bag on her lap.

“Drive,” she told the driver. “Just drive.”

“Anna, where will you go?” She thought to herself, she has absolutely no idea where to go.

She brought out her phone, typed a message to Georgia.

[Jacob sent me out of his mansion] sent it.

It ticked, didn't deliver, Georgia isn't active.

She has no one, just last night, she tried calling her mom, but number blocked. Her parent doesn't go back on their words, once they make a decision, they stand on it firmly.

She should've listened to her mother, maybe she wouldn’t be in this condition.

Truly, men aren't supposed to be trusted no matter what they promise you.

Then dings ding!

A message from Georgia.

[That bastard thought you're alone? Where are you Anna? Let me send my driver to pick you up!]

Anna smiled, tears in her eyes as she typed back.

Anna: I don't know💔

[Fuck, stay where you are, I'm coming.]

Anna instructed the driver to stop the car, but he didn't, he just kept driving.

"Hey! Are you deaf?! Stop the car!" she yelled.

The driver stopped the car, turned to face her and pointed a gun at her.

"Shut the hell up and focus!"

Anna's eyes widened up in shock, she shook her head, trembling.

The words sounded small in the quiet room, but she needed to say them. She didn't deserve to be cheated on. She didn't deserve to be insulted because of her body. She didn't deserve to be thrown out of her home. She wished she could talk to her mother right now, tell her everything but her number was blocked, even if she goes to Indonesia to find them, they've left the apartment they used to live inside before. She wiped her cheeks and reached for the small book on the drawer. It was a notebook with a brown leather cover, her diary. She hasn't written much in it yet, but tonight she needed somewhere to put everything she couldn't say aloud. She opened to a fresh page, her handbag was in the living room, she went to carry it, picked her pen inside and sat on the bed. For a few seconds, she didn't know where to begin. Then she started writing. Dear Diary, I don't even know how to explain how I feel tonight. Today was supposed to be a good day. I went to work, Mr. Ell

The murmuring among the employees grew louder. “Miss Sinclair, we'd appreciate your cooperation. We can explain everything at the station.” The officer said to Anna. Anna shook her head, taking a small step backwards. “I'm not going anywhere until you tell me what this is about. I just arrived at work, and suddenly there are three police officers waiting around my desk. You can't expect me to follow you without an explanation.” she said. One of the officers exchanged a glance with his colleague before reaching into his pocket. “Your ex-husband, Jacob Williams, filed a complaint against you this morning.” the officer said. Anna's lips parted. “He reported that you assaulted his pregnant partner yesterday and threatened her life.” For several seconds, Anna couldn't speak. Then she let out a short, disbelieving laugh. “I'm sorry, what?” “You heard me, ma'am.” “He's lying!” Anna exclaimed, her voice rising. “I didn't touch that woman! I didn't threaten anybody. Wha

How can you sit there telling me you're fine?”Anna forced a small smile. “I'm alive, aren't I?”Georgia reached over and squeezed her hand. “Thank God.”Anna glanced through the window just as Elliot drove past them.“That's my arrogant boss,” she remarked.Georgia looked at her. “Your boss? Has Jacob really gone this far?“Please,” she whispered, tears gathering in her eyes. “I haven't done anything to you. Just let me go. I have a job here.
