Chapter Five

Liam saw Sharon’s eyes widening at him as she stared, and he smiled.

“Good morning, Mom!”

Seeing Liam jumping onto the bed, she smiled and warmly hugged him.

“Good morning,” Sharon said.

“You took a shower early in the morning. Your hair is neat. Did Grandma comb it?” Sharon asked.

Liam, sitting on her lap, shook his head. “No, Mom. Grandma had to go to the market.”

“Then who did it?” Sharon played with Liam’s hair, causing the child to protest.

“Well, Mom. Stop it. Liam is already handsome enough. Sorry, Dad, I have to help him fix his hair again.”

Upon hearing Liam say his father’s name, Sharon frowned in confusion. But Sharon’s confusion was dispelled by the appearance of a handsome man, tall and strong, now standing at Sharon’s bedroom door.

“Good morning,” the man said with a smile, his hands in his pockets. “Good morning.”

Sharon gasped for breath.

“Kevin!” She exclaimed in surprise. Then she quickly touched the corner of her lips, checking if what Kevin said was true.

“Hahaha… Mom is funny. Dad is lying. But Mom believed it. Oops, Mom… Mom…” Liam shook his head and patted his forehead.

Sharon pursed her lips.

“You haven’t showered, Sharon. Hurry up and take a shower. Today, we’re going to the newly opened restaurant. You forgot, didn’t you?” Kevin said.

No wonder Kevin came to the house.

Today, they were going to a popular new restaurant in Manhattan, just as Liam had wished.

So far, Kevin had always put Liam first. At the same time, Liam saw Kevin as a father figure, always taking care of him and fulfilling his wishes.

Kevin didn’t mind Liam calling him “father.” In fact, he was happy to hear it.

Sharon first met Kevin when she was pregnant and had a bleeding episode. She needed to stay in the hospital for a few days.

But after her condition improved, Sharon couldn’t go home because she couldn’t afford the medical bills.

Luckily, at that time, Kevin didn’t hesitate to pay for all of Sharon’s hospital expenses.

Since then, Kevin had been helping Sharon frequently. Apparently, he was a doctor at the hospital where Sharon was being treated.

Until now, Kevin was still taking care of Liam and Sharon.

“Mom, what are you thinking? Shouldn’t you take a shower quickly?” Liam glared at Sharon. Then he turned to Kevin, who was closer to the bed. “Dad, Mom’s being lazy. Dad, can you help Mom?” Liam said innocently.

“Liam!” Sharon screamed.

“Do you really want me to help you take a shower, Sharon?” Kevin teased, raising an eyebrow.

“You must be dreaming!” Sharon got up from the bed and quickly went to take a shower.

Liam looked at Kevin, who sat down next to him.

“Mom is still beautiful.”

Kevin smiled and nodded. He gently pinched Liam’s small and soft cheeks.

“Yes, Liam. Your mom is beautiful in any situation. That’s why I love her.”

“So Dad loves Mom?”

Kevin bit his lip. If Kevin didn’t love Sharon, it would be a lie.

Unfortunately, Kevin had confessed his love to Sharon twice. He had been rejected both times, for the same reason.

“I still can’t open up to someone else. Don’t expect too much from me, Kevin,” Sharon always said that whenever Kevin tried to get serious.

Although she was rejected, it didn’t mean Kevin’s determination to win Sharon’s heart had vanished.

“Of course. Dad loves your mom. Just like how Mom loves you.”

“Are you sure, Sharon? Are you sure about this decision?” they had just finished their meal and Kevin asked.

They were in a restaurant. No wonder Liam really wanted to come here, as there was also a play area for children in the restaurant.

But this time, Sharon’s gaze turned to Liam, who seemed busy playing on slides with other children in the yard.

However, upon hearing Kevin’s question, Sharon turned her head.

“Yes, Kevin. I’m sure. I will go back to New York,” Sharon replied.

“But why? Liam’s school is here.”

“I have been told by my friends in New York that a large company is in need of a secretary. I think it’s worth a try. If accepted, I will find a rented house to live in there. I will bring Liam and my mom. Liam might have to change schools.”

“What if you’re not accepted? What will you do?”

“I will come back here and look for other jobs to make a living.”

“Well, I pray that you won’t get that job then.”
