Chapter Three

chaos on the bed.

“Sharon has left! She doesn’t love you anymore. Don’t waste your tears crying for a woman like her!”

But Bruce continued to roar, seemingly not listening to Aileen’s words.

“Why did you leave when I’m paralyzed now? But you don’t have to worry. My legs will get better in the future. I don’t want a divorce with you.”

Aileen sighed in annoyance.

“Bruce! Listen to Mom! You are a strong person! She’s not worth it.” Aileen cupped Bruce’s face, making him look into her eyes.

“I still can’t believe it, Mom. Sharon left me. She tore our marriage certificate and wrote a letter that broke my heart. She said she doesn’t love me anymore.”

“From the beginning, Mom and Dad told you Sharon wasn’t a good woman. She thought marrying you would make her rich. Stop wasting your tears on that cheap woman! She’s not worth your tears.”

Bruce pursed his lips, holding back the tightly wound pounding in his heart. He closed his eyes, remembering the face of Sharon that he used to look at before sleeping. But now, that face left a deep scar in his heart. Sharon ruined his life.

“Come back, Bruce! Forget that woman. If you want to come back to our family, Dad and Mom would be happy. Show Sharon that you can become a very successful person. Make her regret leaving you!”

Aileen’s intention was for Bruce to come back to her family. And help Dean manage their company. Then later on, Aileen and Dean would proceed with their postponed plan.

Continuing the marriage between Bruce and Vicke.

Sharon walked slowly, her right hand carrying a bag full of clothes.

Last night, at two in the morning, two people came to the rented house.

They forced Sharon to write a fake letter to Bruce. They also mercilessly rummaged through Sharon’s wardrobe and took away her and Bruce’s marriage certificate. Then, they ripped apart the most meaningful document of her life right in front of her.

Sharon screamed, whimpered, and begged them not to tear it apart. But Sharon’s screams meant nothing. They were too cruel.

After Sharon finished writing the letter, their strong hands dragged her away from her rented house in the middle of the night. It didn’t matter if Sharon was pregnant or not. What mattered was that they would do everything according to Dean and Aileen’s orders.

“Sharon! What brings you here?” Sharon’s mother, who was mowing the lawn, was surprised to see Sharon slowly approaching her.

“Mom.”

Sharon’s mother smiled, happy to see Sharon’s arrival. She noticed the bag in Sharon’s hand.

Her mother’s gaze wandered, looking for Bruce’s presence. If Sharon was here to spend the night, shouldn’t Bruce be here too?

“Where’s Bruce? Is he on his way?” Sharon’s mother asked.

Sharon just lowered her head and wiped away the tears that fell on her cheeks. She didn’t answer anything. Seeing this, her mother felt a sense of unease. Something seemed off between Sharon and Bruce.

In the end, her mother chose to invite Sharon inside. Maybe if Sharon calmed down a bit, she would be able to talk.

“Have some water first, Sharon.”

Sharon took the water offered by her mother, holding the cup gently in her hand.

Her mother sat down next to Sharon, gently stroking her daughter’s back.

“Do you have trouble, Sharon? You can talk to your mom. Why didn’t Bruce come with you? And why did you bring so many clothes?” her mother asked.

“Bruce and I are getting a divorce, Mom.”

Finally, Sharon answered, holding her breath.

“You’re getting a divorce?” her mother exclaimed in shock.

But Sharon nodded, confirming that what she said was true.

“But why, Sharon? Weren’t you deeply in love with each other? Your marriage has only lasted four months. Why suddenly say that you want a divorce? There must be something that caused all of this.”

“Bruce’s parents want me to divorce him. They forced me to sign the divorce document. And Bruce doesn’t know,” Sharon explained.

Her mother covered her chest. She didn’t expect Bruce’s parents to do something so cruel to Bruce and Sharon.

Due to the urgency, Sharon told her mother about the series of unfortunate events she had experienced.

Luckily, her mother lived in the same city. Only with the mercy of the delivery driver, Sharon was able to safely reach her mother’s house.

Her mother covered her mouth, shaking her head slightly. It felt like her eardrums were about to burst. She couldn’t bear to hear Sharon’s pain.

“Why are Bruce’s parents so cruel? How dare they treat you like this, Sharon. I won’t accept it. I have to go find them,” her mother cried, overwhelmed with emotions. She was about to stand up from her seat, but Sharon quickly grabbed her hand.

“No, don’t do it. I don’t want you to see them.”

“Why, Sharon? They’ve been so mean to you. And I won’t accept it!” Her mother sat back down, shaking
