Vincaster shook his head while watching Serina act silly in front of a mirror. He left their bedroom to get water in the kitchen, but before he could finish gulping the water on his throat, she suddenly appeared and yelled at him.
“I demand a divorce!” She stood in front of him, crossing her arms together.
Vin accidentally spits the water, and it sprinkles on Serina's face. Then, the latter used the hem of her nightgown to wipe her face.
She felt terrible about her taste in men and soon realized how insane she was falling for this guy who is sometimes cold and sometimes thoughtful towards her.
'I had a thing for a red flag like this bastard back then, but not this time, not in this second life of mine.'
"Let's divorce now." Serina's only solution to change her fate is to divorce him and live far away from him. She needs to change the present to survive in the future because if she stays with him, who knows the same unfortunate event would happen to her. She will never allow her feelings to get in this time because it will jeopardize her second chance to live peacefully.
“We just got married a week ago, and you have not yet fulfilled your duty as my contracted wife, yet you are demanding a divorce?” he asked as soon as he finished one glass of water. He stepped forward which made Seri confused. She didn’t expect this to happen because it wasn’t the way they had a conversation before she returned from her death. Nonetheless, they rarely had a conversation during their first three months together.
She suddenly thought that the order of events must have been changed since she altered what ought to happen today. She vividly remembered, back then, in the same kitchen for their honeymoon, she and Vincaster had only talked about how they would convince his grandfather and relatives that they got married out of love. After that, she simply used to walk past him after getting the fresh milk from their fridge. However, when she found out that she had returned from a year ago, her resolve to survive this time had grown stronger. And, without thinking twice, Serina hastily demanded a divorce, which unconsciously altered the chronological order from her past life.
Vincaster advanced one step forward, while Serina had stepped backward every time her husband stepped forward. She suddenly found herself cornered, with no steps to make anymore. Her back hit the wall, then she swallowed the lump in her throat as she watched him smirk.
“Have you grown bone overnight? Do you have money to pay back all the cheques I paid to save your family from sinking into a financial crisis? Have you forgotten about the clause we signed before coming here to Boracay for a fake honeymoon?" He trapped her between his arms, pressing her to the wall. He flaunted a confident and devilish smirk again before adding spies to his statement. "I will only honor divorcing you once the medium that forced us to enter this covenant has vanished in this world."
"Tsk! That d*mn clause," she mouthed as soon as she recalled the content of their contract. According to that specific clause, party A (Vincaster) and Party B (Serina) should make the chairman happy and at ease before his cessation. Both parties are allowed to divorce each other. In addition, if Party B had not caused trouble and misdeeds to party A, the money spent on Party A and her relatives would serve as an incentive from Party B. Otherwise, if Party A violates or demands to revoke the contract before meeting the condition, the latter must pay Party B twice the original amount spent by Party B; to reimburse the time and money Party B had spent to Party A during the duration of the contract.
"You better prepare to leave this place now. We are going back to Queshon City to meet my family and relatives, do not fail me. I expect you not to get flustered by my relatives' questions. Gave me award-winning acting. In return, I assure you to protect your privacy. No one at LV university would know that you are my wife. My relatives will zip their mouth because they respect my decisions. However, be mindful of Auntie Lucilla because she's a nagger. Don't lose your cool in front of her since she's fast to catch things."
Suddenly the hairs in her body crawled in cringe from hearing the same statement from her past and present feels like a scary deja vu. It was the same thing he uttered back then.
'So, even if I alter a few things the actual thing will still follow? What's the point of waking up and traveling back in time if the same sh*t would happen?" her mind was full of uncertainty, yet her resolve to change her fate brought her back to her senses.
"Forget about divorcing for now." She pushed him aside and went back to their bedroom to pack their belongings. She could not believe that she had to delay her decision to divorce him because of the timing and her financial instability.
He followed and silently watched her from behind. Meanwhile, she was too occupied talking to herself while putting her clothes on the luggage. She failed to notice her husband's presence, who was standing on the wall since she forgot to close the door, making it easy for Vincaster to avoid creating sound.
"I still haven't told my family about this marriage, if things will go according to what happened before... then... until I die, my family will never know the reason why I married that psycho," she mouthed and sighed afterward.
His eyebrow flinched when he heard her calling him a Psycho. He wanted to argue with her, but he chose to listen more. It was a sight for him seeing how odd Serina was.
"He already paid for everything, and if I wanted to divorce him right now, I need to pay twice, darn it. Why so cruel? If only I returned earlier, perhaps the time before I got entangled with him, I bet it would be easier to avoid him. Why do I have to return in time when it is complicated enough to get a divorce?"
At the back of his mind, he was perplexed by Serina's odd statement. His mind goes saying, "Returning earlier? What the hell is she talking about? It's not like she died and time traveled. Did I just marry a weird woman?"
He unconsciously smiled and whispered, “She's interesting.”
Vincaster had always been private and disliked media intervention, just like any other CEO. Only her relatives, Mayor Keith, and secretary Daniel had known that he got married to a mystery girl. The mayor and Daniel were the ones who knew about what happened and the truth in their marital status.Serina had fallen asleep, and Vincaster found himself drawn to her. He recalled how he planned on using this girl ever since he found out about the signed papers. The papers were sent by his friend, Keith, to tease him, but Caster finds it convenient to register it and declare the legitimacy of their marriage. He used his money and connection with the city mayor to wrap things for him. Then, he asked his loyal secretary to stalk and find out her whereabouts and what about. Fortunately, luck must be on his side because it
"Ouch!" Vincaster cried in pain while holding his palm. "Are you a dog or what?""Serves you right. Why would you caress my face when we were just alone? It's harassment, in case you don't know," she replied and stood up. She walked past her seat and was standing in front of Vincaster's seat, then, all of a sudden, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her.Her eyes widened, big as owls upon realizing where her butt had landed on.A stewardess who was about to offer a dessert had looked at her. The woman's gaze made it apparent that Serina was being criticized as if she was a woman who was paid to warm a billionaire's bed. Then, a flash of red shades on her cheek had followed, erupting from embarrassment had made her lose face.
Everyone paved the way for the stretcher where Serina is. They headed straight to the observation room, then Daniel had to go back to the office to settle the meeting which Caster should have attended before coming to their banquet dinner this afternoon.Vincaster was left outside the room together with the nurse. He glanced at her and was irritated when the woman stared at him."Are you done drooling at me? Can't you focus on your job as a nurse?"The nurse finally got a hold of herself and stopped admiring the beauty in front of her. "Do you know this woman, Sir?" She asked for information that needed to be filled in by the person responsible for the patient."Serina Alpheus- Liverteo. 26 years of ag
"Did I interrupt something?" says the chairman wearing a stretched smile from ear to ear. He brought a basket of fruits for Serina and placed it on the top of the bedside table.Vincaster stood up and acted as if nothing awkward had happened between him and his wife. He kissed the back of his grandpa's palm and helped him sit on the edge of Serina's bed. "Does your age make you forget the basic rule of knocking before entering someone else's private space?""Stop scolding your grandfather. Hubby, where's your manners?" Serina interrupted and thought it was great timing to act like they were a real couple.Vincaster was surprised when Serina cut her off and asked about his manner. His upper lip curled a bit in protest, and if it wasn't for the sake of conv
"Yuck!" She stood up and immediately wiped her lips."Yuck?!" He repeated her words, but this time he was questioning her. "You.. argghh! How dare you insult me?" He was holding his temper and tried not to be sensitive as hell. "Do I look like a virus to you?""Yes, you are a virus that will kill me in the future," she replied while getting all her staff and the basket of fruits. Then, she stormed out of the room."What did you say?" he followed her but had to stop when the nurse assigned to process the patient discharge documents asked for his signature.Serina was about to leave when all of a sudden her phone rang. She glanced at Vincaster from a few blocks away from her, who was busy sig
"Take us to this address," says Vincaster while handing over a piece of a business card. The driver kept glancing at them through the rear mirror. "Miss, you seem uncomfortable. Do you really know the guy next to you? Is he harassing or threatening you?" The middle-aged man could not help but meddle when Serina sat on the other end of the passenger's seat to distance herself from Vincaster."Didn't you hear me calling her 'wife'?" says Vincaster with his infamous expressionless face. Despite his nonchalant countenance, his voice had proved his irritation."I have been a taxi driver for two decades, and believe me or not, I often hear weirdos and psychotic people use that excuse.""Do I look like some c
Serina suddenly stood frozen in tears seeing her mother alive. Back then, before she traveled time, her mother died because she saved Savina when the fire broke out from their apartment.“I miss you so much, mom.” She embraced her tighter. "Mom, can you drop the knife first? Hear us out. Anyway, Vincaster, I want you to meet my mom, Samira Alpheus."Her mother is bewildered by Serina’s odd behavior. "Both of you, sit down. We need to talk, and you..." Samira glanced at Savinah. "Go to our room and don't eavesdrop. This matter is for adults only.""But... mom!""No more buts, close the door and go study in our room. Don't come to the living room unless I'm done with these two."Savinah stamped her feet before leaving. Samira placed the knife on top of the coffee table, next to the dilapidated sofa in their sala, only a few steps away from the door. She was starin
"Ouch!" He arched in pain as his back hit the wardrobe when Serina cornered him."Don't ever call me your wife in public. I already told you that I don't like people discovering my weird connection to you," says Serina in a very low voice, just enough for Vincaster to hear it because she's afraid that the people outside the room might catch their conversation."Then, what should I tell the people around us? I can only protect your secret in my jurisdiction, and that is LV's personnel and staff. Keeping your secret from your neighborhood isn't something I can assure.""Are you stupid? Why would you worry about my neighbors? Just don't respond, aren't you the snobbish type, so ignoring people around you is an easy task."
