Side chapter: 03

Serina woke up feeling annoyed with her husband. She even hated the smell of the food he had cooked for her.

“What’s the occasion? Why are there so many disgusting foods?” she asked.

“You look thin, so I wanted to feed you,” he replied as he pulled a chair and helped his wife to occupy the seat.

Well, it was true, she did not gain much weight compared to some pregnant women who usually gain a lot during their pregnancy. Maybe because she became a picky eater, which she had never done before. And, she suspected that the baby is likely to have inherited such a trait from his fussy dad.

“It’s because I’m so stressed seeing you every day. Anyway, what’s the point of gaining weight?” she replied while scrutinizing the platings.

“I’m going to eat you when you’re all juicy and plump," he replied as he sat beside her.

“Have you gone mad? I didn’t know you were a cannibal," she replied sarcastically.

"Just kidding. I'm worried that my precious one would starve since the mother was such a picky eater."

"Says the one who hates eating smoked fish, and street foods."

Vincaster was about to defend himself when all of a sudden their doorbell rang. He opened the door and was happy to present the buko juice Serina asked for an hour ago.

"I changed my mind. You drink it, I don't feel like drinking it," she replied.

Vincaster tweaked his hair because of the frustration. "How can you change your mind that easily?" he asked.

"Don't ask me how because I don't know the answer."

Later on. Setina stopped eating the only food she had liked from the seven dishes her husband made for her. She was silent, so her husband asked.

"Is there a problem with the food? What do you want? Name it and I'll buy everything you could ask for."

"I'm thinking about buying r****h," she replied.

“Is that all you’ve been thinking all this time? That was so random, anyway which r****h farm do you want to buy?” he asked.

“Aren't you exaggerating it? I only asked for r****h but I didn't mean to buy a farm. What's with that head of yours? I wonder what is going on in your mind.”

“Isn’t it obvious you occupied the ninety-nine percent of my mind?” he replied.

“So, who the heck is the owner of the remaining one percent?” she got mad over trivial things such as who might be the one percent occupying his head.

“Still you, but this time you are wearing clothes.”

“Wait.. what? You pervert!” She yelled and as she pinched her husband's left ear but the stubborn growing life inside her had kicked her, so she had let go of his red ear.

"What the hell, did you just kick your mother?" she asked while caressing her twenty-four weeks belly.

Vincaster held his belly from laughing too much and he only stopped to say, "My baby loves his dad so much."

He kissed her womb and uttered, “Daddy loves you so much, so be safe and don’t make it hard for you, mom, ok?”

He put his ear on Serina's womb, and the baby seemed to like it because it no longer threw a fit inside her after uttering those words.

"This is so unfair. I am the one carrying her yet she seemed to favor you more. The only thing you did was sprinkle white fluid inside, so how come you have her attention already even before she could see you?"

“Because I'm a great dad! By the way, honestly speaking, I didn't wish for a baby girl for a first child, but I guess it's alright to have a daughter as the firstborn,” says Vincaster.

“You old prejudiced asshole. Regardless of my baby…”

“OUR,” he corrected her.

Serina rolled her eyes and picked up the part she’d left, “...our baby’s gender, it does not matter. They deserve love and gender has nothing to do with that, so stop being stereotyped.”

“Who told you I won’t love our child because she turns out to be a girl? I’m just saying that if she’s a girl, she might not get married because I don’t want her to marry a jerk out there.”

“You mean you're afraid that she’ll be marrying a jerk like you since I stayed married to her moody and bossy daddy?”

“Jerk? How am I a jerk?" he asked, still trying to feel his baby.

"Because I said so," she replied.

"Hey, baby. Are you listening to daddy? Please don't inherit your mother's mood swings and her snobbish character.  I can't wait to see you and tell you how your mother bullies me."

"Don't listen to your dad. He's a guy who always gets to your mother's every single vein because he is a cunning and naughty person. Moreover, your daddy is the real moody, it’s not me.”

"Hmm... I hope you inherit daddy's genes. So you would have outstanding beauty,” says Vincaster, trying to divert the topic.

"So are you saying her mother is ugly? If that is so, why did you marry this UGLY woman in front of you?" She asked while looking like someone who's about to commit a murder.

"You're beautiful in every possible way. I'm such a picky being, and there is no way I would settle for less. I'm just saying that you are less beautiful in terms of appearance,  if you stand next to me you will only be an ordinary pretty lady because I am way more attractive. I want what's best for my daughter, and it's none other than inheriting my good looks. "

'Well, he didn't lie tho,' a voice inside her head even agreed with her husband's claim.

"You're always conceited," she replied.

"Is that so? Didn't you drool on me, especially when you saw me n-"

She had to stop him from saying weird words since her husband didn't know to cut to the chase.
