CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE

JASMINE’S POV

“I don’t think I can take any more of this,” I say to Emerald, as she braids my hair.

It’s been a week since I and Noah’s last practice and since then, everything between us has taken a slower grind.

I tried to convince myself for the first two days that he was still being reserved because he wanted confirmation of progress with my witch essence.

So to convince him, I repeatedly did extraordinary things, some of which surprised me because I had no clue I was that capable.

On one occasion, out of pure desperation to get him to see that I am not as puny as I once was, I ignited a flame and made sure it consumed everything around us leaving just both of us as the only exception from its wreckage.

I controlled the fire in a manner that its flames didn’t feel uncomfortable around us, but rather warm and soothing.

All he gave me was one of his breathtaking smiles that annoyingly still had an effect on me.
