Dream 2: Dream

Constant Dreams Are Fine, But Not to the Extent That I May Die

...

“Well, then. I’ll take my leave – “ he said and lowered his head.

I saw his lips moved, he mouthed. My eyes went wide, shocked. “What – “ I said, then blinked. There was a gunshot. “Oh, shit – “ I cursed and ducked below the counter.

“Waaaah!!!” the people inside the convenience store screamed and ran outside.

“What – “ I heard the man with the gun said, surprised as he looked at his gun. “How - ?” he asked and looked at me. We all turned when we heard a police siren outside the store. “Wha - !” he said, shocked.

“Hail!” My coworkers called.

The man with the gun turned to them, glaring. “Why, you - !” he said and pointed the gun at them.

I lifted the cash register and threw it to his head.

“Ugh - !” the man with the gun cried and fell on the floor. His head is bleeding.

“Hail!” my coworkers called, shocked.

I sighed, relieved, when the police went inside the store. I almost got killed because of that dream earlier… I thought, referring to the man with a wide black hat, thinking that he dreamed for a moment earlier.

I’ll never work overtime again. He thought as they welcomed the police inside.

“Haa…” I breathed as I lay down on my bed. I just took a shower. I stare at the ceiling. “If that man just hadn’t arrived, I would’ve got killed by that bastard earlier…” I muttered and looked at the news on the TV. But, only my coworkers were interviewed since I immediately ran away after the commotion earlier. “I’ll treat them next time – “ I muttered as my eyes closed.

“Mom… dad…” I called and smiled as they touched my hands.

“Our son…” my mom said, crying as she kissed my hands.

“I’m really sorry about this.” My dad said. A tear fell from his eye. He looked away, but I saw more tears fall from his eyes. His shoulders are shaking.

“Dear… please – “ mom said and looked at my dad, begging. “We shouldn’t – “ she said.

“Mom.” I called.

She looked at me, her face filled with tears.

I smiled and held her hands tight. “It’s alright.” I told her. “It’s really alright – “ I said and looked at them. “You shouldn’t blame yourselves. I know you’re just doing this for the sake of our kingdom.” I said and lowered my head. I saw my tears fall. I bit my lip to keep myself from crying.

“Son…” my father called, crying. He looked at me, his eyes full of pity.

I forced a smile. “Go – “ I said and pushed them out of my room.

Their eyes went wide, shocked, as they flew out of my room and the doors closed. “Noooo - !” they screamed and reached out their hand.

I closed my eyes as the doors closed. A tear fell from my eyes before I collapsed on the floor, unconscious.

“Hah!” I gasped. I immediately sat up, heavily breathing. I immediately touched my cheek. I sighed, relieved, when there were no tears. “Whew…” I muttered and went down to bed. “Hm?” I said when I saw the mirror. I walked towards it. “Strange… like always – “ I said, referring to my dream. “Just what the hell happened to me this time?” I asked and sighed as I stared at my face, then shook my head.

Good thing I don’t have any eye bags because of this dream.

“Hmm… beef, canned foods, liters of water…” I muttered as I looked inside my bag. I just finished buying groceries. Needless to say, I’m taking a day off today as an apology from our boss at work because of what happened yesterday. “Next, clean my place – “ I said and smiled as I looked at my contacts list on my phone.

I have to thank my coworkers yesterday for covering me up since I left because I don’t like the mass media.

“And after that, I have to do my laundry and cook…” I muttered. I started typing on my phone. “’Come to my place @ 8 pm. I’ll treat you to dinner – ugh!” I cried when my head suddenly hurt. “Ungh - !” I dropped my groceries and held my head with both hands as I gritted my teeth because of pain. I fell on my knees. “What…?” I asked when my vision got blurry. “Wait…!” I called and reached my hand out when I saw a pair of shoes coming my way. “Help…!” I said while my eyes involuntarily closed.

I lost my consciousness.

“How many years has it been?” a woman asked.

Judging by my previous dreams, she’s the queen. I thought.

“Yeah…” the man answered.

He’s the king.

“But, we don’t have a choice. It’s for the kingdom – “ the man explained.

No, no. Scratch that. I thought. I didn’t understand a thing he said! What the hell are they talking about? (A/N: remember. He forgets the dream minutes after he wakes up.)

“A kingdom that will be gone after a few minutes.”

They turned. A woman that looked regal is standing by the doorframe.

“Mother.” The queen spoke. “What do you mean?” she asked.

But, the woman just smiled. Their eyes went wide when there was an explosion outside. They turned. Their mouths fell open, shocked, when there was black smoke everywhere.

“What did you do…?” the queen asked and turned to her mother. “Mother!” she called, mad.

“What the hell happened?” the king asked, horrified.

“Well – “ the queen’ mother spoke and walked towards them. “ – if there’s no kingdom, there’s no need to sacrifice him… right?” she asked and looked at them.

Their eyes went wide, realizing it. “You don’t mean…!” they gasped.

“Yes.” The queen’s mother answered. “I destroyed your kingdom – “ she told them, then looked at me. “ – in place of saving my grandson.” She said.

“No way…” the queen said and fell on her knees.

“Aria!” the king called and helped her up.

The queen’s mother laughed and turned to me. “In order to wake you up from your slumber…” she said and touched my forehead. “… I have to destroy your kingdom. The kingdom your mother, your father, and you love the most.” She said and gritted her teeth. “The same kingdom that puts you to sleep!” she yelled and raised her hand.

“Mother!” the queen screamed.

“No!” the king cried.

They covered their eyes as a bright light went out of the queen’s mother’s hand. A strong gust of wind enveloped everyone inside the room.

“Hah!” the queen’s mother gasped when my body flew from my bed and out of the window. “No!” she called and lowered her hand.

The light disappeared and the wind calmed down. But, it was too late. I thought as my body fell from the balcony.

“Nooo - !” they screamed and watched me fall down.

“Haaah!” I gasped and opened my eyes, catching my breath. I checked if my body was still intact. I sighed, relieved, when nothing was missing. “Geez… that really scared – “ I said when I suddenly froze after I tried to put my feet down on my bed, but I couldn't. “ – me…” I continued.

Why can’t I put my feet down on my bed? I thought and looked down. Because there is no bed.

I stare at the green land where I’m sitting. My face paled. “Why?” I asked as I looked at the brown jeans I’m wearing. I felt my face went pale when I saw my shirt. It was a blue, loose long – sleeved shirt.

A typical clothes for the characters in an adventure game. I thought and gulped as I raised my head. I knew it. I thought and closed my eyes when I saw a familiar scene. A scene that I could see in the online games I am playing when I’m in my world.

Yes. This is not my world – I thought and heaved a sigh as I stood up. I brushed off the grass that stuck on my clothes. Because this world… I thought as I looked at the flag fluttering above the castle afar.

This world is the one from my dream. I am inside my dream world.
