MasukCHAPTER 2
JENNA’S POV I laid on my sofa thinking, as the sound of the doorbell jolted me up. The door pushed open and I already knew who that was. “Jenna! Gosh. What's going on with you?” She stared at me confused. A look of concern furrowed her brows. “I mean, one minute I'm seeing over the news you're getting married and next thing the supposed bride to be comes asking on how to get a boyfriend before tomorrow?” “Cassy, you're not going to understand.” “Have…you been drinking?” She walked up close to me attempting to touch my forehead. “Girl no!” I shot at her, slapping her hand away as I spoke. “Grandpa set me up again and now I've got no choice than to play this game with him.” I continued. “I told him about my boyfriend and us keeping what we have low key in an attempt to not get married to whoever he has in mind.” “But, you don't have a boyfriend.” She said. I rolled my eyes, “thanks for the kind reminder, Cassy “ I said sarcastically. “So…..what do we do about this, your phantom guy huh?” I lifted my gaze to see big wide eyes glaring at me. I jumped back. “Jesus Christ! Cassy, you scared me,” my hands still placed on my chest as I adjusted myself back on the sofa.” The way cassy burst outlaughing like a hyena seemed to lift up the tension I was feeling. She made sure to cheer me out of any bad situation and I loved her for that. “Tell you what, you just need to find someone good enough to play the part. I mean, men these days don't really care about love. Just wave some money in their face and boom! Your phantom man comes to reality.” She said. “Nice idea, Cass, but where do we find those kinds of men?” A wide grin carved up in her face. “We go to the club.” “Huh?” My brows knitted in confusion. “Yes, the club.” She inched close, dragging me by my arm as we walked to my room. “Think about it, you get to pick from all the men who're going to be fawning over you tonight.” “Trust me if I were a guy, I'd even bark at your command,” we both burst out laughing while I began to ravage my wardrobe. ******** Loud music pulsed through the club as we walked in. Hundreds of bodies swaying with the rhythm like they were dancing away their problems. Boy! I don't think I have ever been to a club this full before. I took in a deep breathe. My eyes caught sight of a figure across the crowded dance floor and I could tell he was staring when he shot a wink at me. I could feel myself blushing as I shifted my gaze to the bar and I knew just what I needed to do to escape this packed can of sardines, but with humans instead. “One shot of tequila thank you,” I said to the barman while my eyes scanned for Cassy. Well, I wouldn't be surprised if she hooked up with someone already. Seconds turned to minutes and minutes to hours, still with no sign of Cassy. “Another shot of tequila!” “Ma'am this would be your 10th glass for the evening, sure you’d like more? “Well I don't think it's in your power to question the lady since she can foot her bills.” A husky voice emanated from behind me. It was him. The man who was gazing at me when I stepped into the club. He moved the stool closer to me as he sat. My nostrils caught hold of his spicy yet masculine cologne. “Two shots please,” he ordered. I couldn't stop myself from staring at him. His eyes!! Arghh! The prettiest set of almond eyes I've ever seen. His small pointed nose was brown with freckles and his well defined cheekbones sat above a square concrete jaw. “I assume you're here alone?” His gaze fixed on me as I sought another shot of tequila. “Uhh-no. I'm with someone, but she should be around the corner having a threesome or whatever.” I rolled my eyes. He chuckled. “I think sitting here all alone is quite boring. Mind we go for a little dance?” You don't get to dance with a man this hot everyday and the plus mission of getting a boyfriend before tomorrow already seems like a failure. I thought to myself. Our bodies brushed against each other as his hands moved along my waist to the rhythm. He inched me closer, as I felt the sound of the music slowly fading away. I was losing it. I wanted him. His fingers traced the curve of my hip, his breath hot against my ear as he whispered “You're so beautiful” Shivers ran through my spine as his fingers traced further up cupping a feel of my breast. “Want to get out of here? He whispered again into my ear. I have a nod of agreement. We slipped out of the building and found our way to his car. The journey to wherever we were going couldn't become any shorter. The lust between us grew as each second passed. The car came to a halt in front of a tall building and I'm guessing his apartment is one amongst the hundreds of windows shining brightly against the night sky. We got into the elevator. His pinned me to the wall as his lips met mine in a hungry kiss. He explored my body, finding the sensitive spot between my legs. Moving his hands in a thrust motion, I convulsed at his touch. My moans grow louder with every action. The elevator chimed and he lifted me up. Carrying me to his bedroom. He didn’t need locks cause I saw something like a face scanner or I don’t know whatever I saw. I yearned for something else The carpet was silent against the sound of his footsteps He laid me on the bed stripping me bare. Hot kisses fell on my breast while his hands were groping the other. He stopped and fixed his gaze on me. “Do you want this?” His eyes said something different. He was hungry, hungry for sex. “Yes, yes,” I cried. He turned me onto my back, positioning my body to arch. He lowered himself into me thrusting slowly, letting me adjust to his size. His pace quickened and my moans filled the air of the room. “Fuck! You're so wet,” he growled, thrusting even faster this time. He pulled out, tiring my body to face him. “I…love…how…you…feel,” he said, placing a kiss on my neck all the way to my lips. “Come for me, sexy girl.” My hands grabbed unto the sheets. My body quivered from how he stroked me. His teeth are nipping at my nipples. “Oh fuck,” I cried. My voice hoarse with pleasure. Our moans grew louder as he we both reached our point of climax. Quickening his pace he pulled out, emptying himself all over my belly. As we laid still on his bed, our hearts pounded in unison, we were soaked with sweat. As I was drifting off to sleep due to exhaustion a warm kiss fell on my neck.CHAPTER 122ROB’S POVThe woman at the front desk looked at us as though we were an inconvenience. The sharp sigh from her lips was enough to tell as she dropped down the piece she was knitting. Her lips pressed thin as she swung towards our direction for the second time. “I already told you, we don’t disclose information about any of our residents here. Both old and new, now if you would stop interrupting me.” I didn’t know how long we’d been standing here for, but it was long enough for my patience to start running out. “Ma’am, we just need to confirm if Elena stayed here and if she did you’d be doing us a really huge favour.”“No.” The reply came rather too quickly. “I’m sorry if you don’t leave right now, I might need to call the cops on you.”Before I knew it, Phil had already whipped out his badge. The shiny metal reflecting beneath the fluorescent lights. “We’re investigating a homicide,” he says calmly. “So you can either decide to let this go the easy way or we come back wi
CHAPTER 121ROB’S POVThe holding room smelled of dust and coffee. I sat rigidly on the metal chair, the sound of metal handcuffs clanked against each other every time I moved. Above me the almost dim fluorescent light flickered at intervals. My irritation heightened along with it. “Let’s try this again,” one of the officers glanced up at me, lazily flipping through a thin file. “I already told you everything.” I leaned back into my chair, letting out a very exhausting sigh. There was no clock in the room and I could only wonder how long I’d been here for. An hour? Two?Another officer who’d been standing at the corner of the room arms crossed inched closer, drawing out one of the chairs across from me. “What was your relationship with Elena like?”“I barely knew her.”The officer raised a brow, scoffing almost immediately. “You really expect us to believe that?”“Yes I do!” I snapped, hitting my cuffed wrists on the table. “She used to work for Isabelle and that’s it.”“And how lo
CHAPTER 120ROB’S POV“Sure you don’t want to get that?” Phil points towards the direction where my phone had been ringing for the past minute. I grunt out, stretching forward to grab the phone. I’m suprised at the caller. It’s Cassy?I couldn’t think of a proper reason for why she would be calling but one reason kept resonating in my mind. I swiped the answer button instantly. “Cassy! Uhm hi, it’s weird to see your call.” I almost cringed from embarrassment after saying that. Probably not the best idea to spew out exactly what’s on your mind. “Yeah, Rob.” A long exhale followed, almost like she was running out of breath.“Are you okay?”“Yes, yes! I know this is already awkward but it shouldn’t be me you should be worried about….” I chime in before she completes her sentence. “Is Jenna okay? What happened?”“I know I wasn’t supposed to tell you this, but I couldn’t figure out who else to call. Jenna is being irrational right now and she won’t listen to me.”I can feel my body an
CHAPTER 119ISABELLE’S POV“This is…how? I mean, how did you manage to get all of this?” I said, sounding almost out of breath as I flipped through the file. “You meant to say thank you?” Damien says over my shoulder, but I don’t look his way. I’m too engrossed in what I’m looking at. As much as I knew they were fake, they looked really believable. Every evidence that once and might have connected me to the death of Elena now pointed all to Rob. “Nice huh?” Damien assumed. “With Rob gone, we can finally be together again. Live the life we’ve dreamed.”It feels like the air has stilled around me. I keep my arms folded against my chest, turning my gaze away from the file. “Don’t you think we should find another way around this?” My voice goes small, it’s unlike me. Damien doesn’t answer right away, instead he moves away to the center of the room before lighting his cigar. “I’m talking to you, Damien,” I called out, a little louder than before. I can hear the anger brimming in his
CHAPTER 118JENNA’S POV“Are you still brooding over what Rob did last week?” Cassy says over the video call, managing to chew so lightly on her French toast. “No, but I have every right to still be mad at him. I mean! You know how long I’d been working my butts off just to secure that deal with the Craters…..”“Yes, but he misses you, Jenna! Don’t you see?”My chair made a small creak as I turned around, my eyes following in the same suit as it orbited hard into my skull and back. I didn’t know what irritated me more. The thought of Rob or the mere mention of him. “I'd rather remain blind, thank you.”“You’re being stubborn.” Cassy clicked her tongue aggressively. “I see the way your eyes soften when I bring him up. Do you a favour and quit lying to yourself.”Me? Stubborn? I could go on to beat the allegations but that could only get me more talks about Rob that I didn’t want to hear about. “I’ve got work to do, bye!”The call ended right before Cassy could even protest. I let ou
CHAPTER 117ROB’S POV“Seems here he’s been in this school all his life.” Phil muttered, his fingers scratched at his beard as he continued to flip through the pages. “Poor guy, this place was his life.”Turns out Damien had been enrolled in this boarding school since he was a child up until he’d left for college. I couldn’t help but wonder why it was so. “Can we have the lady back here, I’ve got some questions.” I said, still fixed on the file I was reading. Phil dialed into his phone and the lady waltzed in almost immediately. “You asked for me?” She asked, leaning casually into her seat. “Yes!” I replied hurriedly. “Uhm lady…”“Call me Martha, dear.”“Right! Martha. You knew Damien very well, didn’t you?”“Oh yes!” Her voice sang beautifully. “He was amongst our brightest students, too hard to not pick interest into. Sadly his mother passed just before he got admitted into our college.”I couldn’t imagine how distraught he’d have been. “And his father?” I asked almost immedia
CHAPTER 99 ROB’S POV “Just keep ‘em coming.” The bartender looked at me weird but he still obliged anyways. This was the only thing that made sense today. The burn of whiskey down my throat and the burying of memories with every gulp I took. I’d lost count of how many glasses I’d taken already,
CHAPTER 92ROB’S POV“Today is a wonderful day, and I’m glad to welcome you all to the official launch of the Renodrive software…..”The crowd erupts with a thunderous applause that cause my blood to boil. I’m sitted with clenched fists as I wonder why the hell I’m even sitted here, bearing witness
CHAPTER 91ISABELLE’S POV“Fucking hell!” I cursed the minute I stepped out of the house. I should have looked away when I saw him wave at me. But the real question was why was he here this early?Damien stood by the side of his car with crossed arms like he owned the place. He had on a casual tee
CHAPTER 94ISABELLE’S POVI felt like I was going to pass out as the unending cough in my chest refused to die down. Rob’s choice of words this evening was something I never imagined to ever come out of his mouth. Not even to me. But then again, he did say it was joke, yet I found it very hard to
