038 The Alpha's Decision

Dahlia’s POV

Walking down the red-carpeted aisle, I realize the whole mansion has been neatly decorated. Unlike some cheesy, on-the-surface Christmas accessories, they polished everything shiny and added only nuances of ornaments, but done elegantly.

Only after three days, and for the second time I don’t recognize my life.

Right, the League’s delegation.

I don’t know what kind of a “final inquiry” the League needs from Damon, but surely his injury is not making it easy.

Guilt forms a lump behind my throat.

Standing on the side of the now resplendent lobby, I feel only incompatible in the long sleeves and thick jeans, plus a pair of old cheap leather shoes I borrowed from Ava that’s forcing its shape on my feet.

Damon wouldn’t be pleased to see me like this.

He is too pretty to stand beside me right now.

“Maybe I should change,” I whisper to Lola, “You said you don’t want me to upset the Alp--”

“Shut up!” Lola hisses at me, “They are coming!”
