DIMITRI
"I should not have lost control," Dimitri snapped at himself as he transformed back to his human form and looked down at fragile body of Kira. She was totally out of it. "But why did she had to call him a dog?" he added to himself. "Does she not know!"Knock! Knock! Knock!Dimitri huffed and opened the door."I heard your anger from a long way away," spoke Taron, Dimitri's first beta, his closest ally and protege. "Who offended you to enough to lose control?" he asked seriously."Her," Dimitri spoke as he controlled his temper.Taron tilted his head to see the fallen form of Kira. "The poor girl lost her consciousness, did she?" he asked curiously.“I cannot even fathom how stupid and mellow she is,” Dimitri spoke. He felt angry, but not at Kira now, but at himself. He was not supposed to lose his cool like this.“Is she mellow or unaware of our existence?” Taron demanded as he entered the room and walked up to the fallen form of Kira. “Why do you have this human with you anyway? Don’t you know that having a human is mere stupidity?” Taron asked intrigued.“She was in the Hew, they cannot auction a human, and she cannot be unaware,” Dimitri spoke, though he himself knew it was not true. If Kira was like him, then she would not have fainted at the sight of his wolf. Her reaction said that she was unaware of the world he belonged to…“But didn’t she say she was kidnapped? What if she is a human and was just sold due to lack of candidates?” Taron reasoned coolly. “These hosts are not very popular for their ethics, isn’t it?”Dimitri did not like the sound of it.“She is like us,” Dimitri spoke after a thought.“How do you know it?” Taron asked, his interest piqued.“I just know,” Dimitri huffed, even though he himself did not know why and how he knew it. He just did!“Anyway, she is hurt, poor girl has been rendered unconscious at least three times in the last twenty four hours. Even for us, it is not healthy,” and Taron simply picked her up and placed her back in the bed. Why! Why oh why did it pricked Dimitri so much to see Kira in Taron’s arms. There was nothing romantic in it, there was no attachment from either side, and yet, seeing him touch her angered Dimitri.“Why did you buy her in the first place?” Taron demanded once he had covered Kira with a sheet. “Fifty K is too much even for her!” he raised his eyebrows. But Dimitri was not listening, he was staring at Kira, who was sleeping peacefully but still had a shadow of fear on her face.Taron stared from Dimitri to Kira and then back to Dimitri, and patted Dimitri’s shoulder.“What?” Dimitri spoke with a start.“I got my answer, brother,” Taron patted his arm shoulder again. “Anyway, boss, I will dig into her parentage and will find out what is she, okay?”“She is just a slave,” Dimitri spoke half-heartedly. “You don’t need to ---”“Just a slave?” Taron asked with raised eyebrows and stared at his alpha. And then after a pause spoke, “as you say, boss.” And with a smile, he left.KIRAKira woke with a start. She was aching all over. Last time when she had fallen unconscious, Dimitri had caught her, or she hoped at least, but this time, Dimitri was… he was… she panted as the memory of a big, scary monster flashed in front of her eyes. Dimitri was not human, he was … she gulped as she turned her face to see the man who was lying beside her. His eyes were closed and it seemed he was sleeping. Kira’s heart was thudding in her heart as she tried to free herself from the sheets that were covering her and tried to step out of the bed. Dimitri moved slightly but continued to sleep.Exhaling softly, slowly, very slowly Kira crawled out of the bed and looked out of the window. It was still dark and it seemed dawn was about to crack.‘Okay!’ Kira thought to herself, ‘It is still middle of the night, I was wrong before to think it was morning!’ she thought. ‘If it is night, I can runaway…’She walked up to the door and much to her astonishment found her luggage placed by it. Someone had cleaned out her hotel room and brought her belongings here. She even saw her purse on the cabinet next to the TV unit. She picked it up and looked inside. Her passport, her wallet, money, everything was still in it.Heaving a sigh of relief, Kira put the sling of her purse around her neck and opened the door as quietly as she could. The door did not even make slightest noise and opened with ease.‘Was it even locked?’ Kira wondered as she stepped out and pulled it to close it just as quietly.Once out, she ran… she ran like her life depended on it, which it literally did!“How can I help you miss?” the man at the reception called out. He was half dozing but hearing her running feet he woke up and stood. “Are you okay miss?” he asked again.Something in his expressions said he would tell Dimitri immediately about her departure, so she composed herself and started to walk casually. “Oh, just out for a morning walk!” she smiled.“Without any shoes, miss?” the man asked with raised eyebrows.“Have you never walked in the morning grass? You should try it, it is very refreshing and peaceful,” Kira simpered as she walked out of the hotel, hoping sincerely that the man bought her lies. She ran out the main doors, she ran out the gate… but there was nothing in sight. Sea was gushing right in front of her, its waves rising and falling rapidly under the pull of the moon, and the road, the muddy road lay barren on either side.‘Which way was airport?’ she wondered and randomly choosing a side, she started to run.The small rocks, mud and all other things that people threw on the road irritated her feet, resulting in small angry blisters, but she did not stop. She ran as fast her legs and flimsy dress – in which she was very cold now – allowed. She was hoping she was far enough to leave Dimitri and his men behind when suddenly she heard footsteps behind her. Someone was walking casually, slowly, almost leisurely, whistling at ease.Dread filled her as she turned.Dimitri, in his white shirt and pajamas, was walking at a steady pace, as if he had no care in the world.“I don’t think this road is peaceful and refreshing for a bare feet walk, is it?” Dimitri spoke as he stood in front of her, almost smiling.Kira was panting heavily. She clutched the stitch in her side and bent double when Dimitri pulled out bathroom slippers of the hotel and showed them to her.“For your feet,” he smiled lazily.Kira stared at his gesture in horror, but took the slippers nonetheless. And then with even a wider smile, he added, "Didn’t I tell you I will KILL YOU if you tried to run away from me?”KIRA & DIMITRI Kira blinked rapidly. Out of the confinement of the room, she now was feeling less scared of him. And he just threatened her, and yet, he is smiling!"Are you not cold?" Dimitri asked simply. The changing expressions on Kira's face was amusing him beyond his comprehension. He stared at her from top to down, she was still in that dress, her arms and legs below knees were visible and covered in goosebumps. "Are you cold?" Dimitri asked again. Kira did not like his gaze on her body and hugged herself tightly, and shook her head. She was cold, yes, in fact, she was freezing, but she was not going to admit it to him! Dimitri huffed, and raised his hand and flicked his fingers. A few minutes later two men came running to him. He whispered something in one of the men's ears and they turned and hurried back. "Are you calling for the means to kill me?" Kira asked, feeling anxious. "Considering I scared you, I am not going to kill you, yet," Dimitri laughed. He put his hands
KIRA “I am not a – a –” Kira stammered hastily. “Were you bit or something?” she asked in a barely audible whisper. “B… bit?” Dimitri repeated as he laughed at her words and tone. Her expressions were so shocked that Dimitri laughed even harder. His laughter was echoing on the horizon, and for a change, Kira saw a few men staring at him in utter surprise. Kira looked at him nervously and then at the men again – who had disappeared back in the shadows. “Oh dear God, I don’t remember when last I laughed so loudly,” Dimitri spoke, still chortling, bent double on the ground. "I don't think I have laughed like this ever!" he added, panting slightly. “I believe you as I can see that your men popped out of their hidey holes to witness this rare sight,” Kira spoke in a bemused tone. “I am glad I could make you laugh!” “I am glad too,” Dimitri spoke, now getting back to his feet and staring at her. “I had forgotten how to do that, I guess.” “Your life must be miserable if you don’t rememb
Kira didn’t know what to expect next. But a few hours later, in which she was served a lavish breakfast in the room itself, she was taken to Goa International Airport where a stunning chartered plane awaited their party. Dimitri sat beside Kira as they drove to the airport. He was quiet, was it because he was annoyed with her, or was it because of the men in front seats? Kira didn’t like the silence in between them but didn’t know how to resolve it. Feeling they would have a long flight to wherever they were supposed to fly to, she could make up with him. She enjoyed the view outside, and after a while they reached. Her jaw dropped at the sight. A beautiful, white, plane was sitting on the tarmac. Kira stared at it and noticed a weird gold symbol on its rudder. As she tried to make out what it was, a bemused voice spoke from behind, “It is a wolf…” Kira turned and found the handsome Taron grinning at the symbol. Kira blushed at his words. “Beautiful, isn’t it?” Taron continued th
KIRA It was long … a very long flight indeed. Kira was unsure of what to do… The airhostess – thankfully there were some other women on the plane too, phew! – had informed Kira that the flight time was eighteen hours with a fueling layover of two hours in mid. “But where are we heading?” Kira asked expectedly. “I am sorry, I cannot tell you that. Boss said it will be a surprise for you,” the airhostess smiled simply and left. Was Kira imagining it or did she blush slightly as she spoke the word ‘boss’? Was the airhostess smitten by Dimitri? Though Kira was weirded out by her situation, when Dimitri had assured her safety and she had stepped in the plane, she had been awed. But she had been very careful to now show it. As they had entered the plane, the first section held a small kitchenette. She was moved to the next section which housed at least ten seats… and all were occupied by men of various sizes. The next section was a big open space that seemed like a bar with seats fixed t
DIMITRI “TARONNNNNNNNNNN……” Dimitri roared as he lunged at Taron to strangle him. “My lord… listen,” Taron begged as Dimitri’s fingers encircled his throat. “Please… my lord,” Taron spoke in a throaty voice. He didn’t dare push his alpha away, even to save his own life… Taron just grabbed Dimitri’s hand lightly and requested him to show mercy. “Just listen to me once, please…” Dimitri growled again but pushed back Taron, nevertheless. Taron breathed heavily, clutching and massaging his throat, but was grateful. “Boss,” Taron spoke after a long cough. “I am not targeting her. I love Yana, she is my mate since I was fifteen years old. I love her, why would I target her?” Taron asked pointing at unconscious Kira. When Dimitri did not reply, Taron added, “I know how you feel, I know what you feel, I feel it too, but for my own mate…” Dimitri shot him a dirty look at the word ‘mate’. “Oh come on, boss, I am your beta. I know what you are feeling more than anyone else. You have never pa
KIRA When Kira came through, she felt exceptionally stiff, rigid and hungry. She was in a well lit room and was occupying a super cozy bed. A soft chirp of various birds could be heard at a distance, and a far away laughter of kids reached her ears. As Kira dragged herself out of bed, she stumbled slightly. Why were legs so damn stiff. She shook her entire body vigorously to allow the blood flow to properly reach her limbs. Then yawning still, she stepped out of the room. But as she walked out, her eyes fell on her reflection on the large mirror by the door. Her clothes were different than what she was wearing before… Feeling awkward and conscious, she pulled herself together and decided to find her captors. She walked out of her room and found herself in the small living area – where a large book case was placed along with a large sofa set. She stepped out this living area and found that her room opened up to a large courtyard and for a moment she was blinded by the dazzling sunligh
KIRA Kira could not believe this. Could her aunt and uncle really do this to her? Her expressions must have said so because Dimitri got up and brought an apple from the kitchen. “Here,” he offered it to Kira. “I don’t want it,” Kira pulled back and everyone gasped. “Why not?” Dimitri asked with raised eyebrows. “I have never liked it,” Kira spoke simply. She knew she was defying Dimitri and it was not an acceptable gesture in this house! “But you like the smell of it, isn’t it?” Dimitri asked, smelling the apple. “I always like the smell or aroma of the food, but never the taste,” Kira informed. “Does it smell like it always does?” Dimitri asked, still offering. Kira bent closer to the apple and sniffed. “Yes, the same,” Kira nodded. Dimitri took a bite of the apple, “It is delicious too, you know. It is a normal apple,” he suggested. “Now take a bite!” Kira looked around. Everyone was staring at the pair of them with bated breaths. Feeling no other option, she started to t
KIRA “Is your mate always so spiteful?” Kira demanded Taron. “And I am done,” she added to the woman who was waiting by her. The woman hurried forward and cleared the plate for Kira, and disappeared behind a door. “I think she is insecure,” Taron sighed heavily. “I have always paid attention to her, and only her. But now you are here, and you are more important!” “I am more important than your mate?” Kira asked with shocked expression. “You do understand the meaning of mate? Right?” she mocked. “I think I know more about mates than you do,” Taron grinned. “So, mate is your wife or husband?” Kira asked. “We don’t marry per se,” Taron informed, “some of us do ‘marry’ to celebrate and cherish, but most of our kind don’t. A wolf has only one mate, one and only…” “And you are loyal to your mate, even if you don’t marry,” Kira enquired. "As if married people are always faithful," Taron rolled his eyes."You know what I mean," Kira insisted.“Mostly yes, like Yana told you, minds like
