Chapter 10. His true colors

"Because I pity the hell out of people like you. That's all, Madeleine. Don't think you're special because you're good-looking. You mean nothing to me."

AGGRAVATED was the only emotion that kept consuming Connor Harrington since he discovered that one of his employees had betrayed him.

"How did you fucking let that stupid man steal our files?!" Connor screamed as he threw his hands in the air and paced back and forth across his office, making everyone inside cringe, afraid of being on the receiving end of his outburst.

He could feel his blood boiling underneath his skin and felt so much abhorrence toward the person accountable for letting his employee go without giving retribution.

"You are responsible for this, Mrs. Querva, right?"

Mrs. Querva nodded as she held her hands together in front of herself in a prayer pose. She knew that if she spoke up against Connor, she would be thrown off this position within the next week, and she didn't want that to ensue.
