Chapter Five

Daisuke's point of view

• • •

IT WAS STRANGE.

The last time I saw that girl so shaken was when my sister died. I got speechless when I heard what Rai said. Shouldn't I be happy that she saw her own death and was disturbed like that? Then why do I feel so uncomfortable?

When you tell others about their deaths is one thing, but when you saw your own death happening with your own eyes, it's a totally different story. It's not surprising that she seemed to have lost her mind. That's probably what passed through all of our minds. She's right, we all hate her, but deep inside of us, I believe all of us know that she isn't the one who caused all those peoples' deaths. That's why we all froze when her brothers said that.

She was so oblivious to her surroundings that she didn't even realize it when her brothers, my sisters, and Princess Elodie joined us. And when she got out, the look on her eyes was frightening… it didn't seem like her.

I turned my attention to her brothers, and for the first time since I've met them, I saw them shaken because of something related to her. Were they worried? How awkward. I swear they hate her just as much as I do, especially Rai. So I never expected him to react like that.

"My sister…" Aeneas started, and I've never heard him call her like that either. "I don't think she has that much time left, Your Majesty!"

"I don't know what happened," Rai exclaimed, looking at his own hands. "She never had any curiosity to see her own death. Princess Avyanna once told me that she was scared of learning that and that's why she began to use the blindfold, so she would never see herself in the mirror accidentally," the mention of my sister made me clench my hands in fists. "What made her do that all of sudden? How can one bear to watch their own death? Hearing someone tell you about it is one thing because you aren't seeing it happening. But…" he couldn't finish.

I'm not surprised that we shared the same thoughts. "I think that might be my fault," I spoke impulsively, attracting their eyes to me. "Your sister must have done that because I ordered her to join the Crown Princess Trials and so, spend a year here. She knows how much I hate her, so maybe she decided to do that to know if I would kill her while she's in here."

Everyone present seemed to agree with me, "But brother," my younger sister, Ismene Zara Maximillian {the knowledgeable Princess between the greatest}, spoke. "Why would she ask to not be a noble anymore and become a commoner? It doesn't make sense to me."

"Maybe she's using that as a way to not join the Trails?" Princess Elodie ponded.

"By the way she talked with us, I don't think she's doing all of this just to not participate in the Trials," my father joined the argument. "To me, it seemed more like she didn't want to lose a year here. She seemed to want to be free from her duties as a noble," well that makes sense.

"If that's the case," mom started. "Then I think the problem wouldn't be her death itself, but when it's going to happen!" Somehow, her voice sounded genuinely worried. She looked at me, "Are you sure you want to make her join the Trials, Dai?"

What a stupid question. "Of course, I do, mom! Come on, guys. We are talking about Nsomi Eileithya D'Arcy! I can't let her get away with what she did," I looked at all of them. "And I believe each and all of us, hate her for causing the death of our loved ones! Take her own family and my sister as an example. They all had horrible deaths because of her damn power. Do you think it's okay to let her go like that just because she saw her own death? Yes, it must have been fucked up. But she's used to that now. As she said, everyone will die someday, so what's the problem with her death? I would one hundred percent prefer to see her dying than the people I love. What about you? Is she important to any of you?"

I may have been a little harsh, but it was nothing that all of us weren't already thinking about. Even my parents. "Dai's right," my mother exclaimed. "Let her get a good taste of her own poison!" Her brother seemed to be calmer now and agreed with my mom. "And except for me, my husband and her brothers," mom started. "None of you can look at that girl in the eyes. She was right when she said that she used the blindfold because she wanted it and not because she was ordered to. And now she decided not to use it anymore, so take care. And if she does anything against any of you, come to us or go to Dai! Right, son?"

"Yes!"

"Also, she seems to be losing her insanity, so let's just let her do what she wants and act how she wants. Just ignore. That will probably frustrate her and be even more effective. Because if I saw it right, she will start acting bitterly now," mom pointed with a grin on. They all agreed with her, except me.

I'm not letting that girl do what she pleases. Not in my Palace.

"When you have to be in the same place as her, son," dad began. "Use a pair of dark glasses on. She can only use that power of hers if she can get a good look on your eyes."

After I nodded, the topic died and they started talking about other things. While I got out of there and started preparing some surprises for when she comes to stay here in three days. I bet she will feel broken to see my sister's nanny, imagine if I chose her to take care of her. Especially when Emilia hates her guts just like all of us.

One of the Knights gave me a pair of dark glasses as I asked, to prevent if I ended up seeing that idiotic girl.

I headed to the training grounds and to my surprise, I heard someone training alone, far away from anyone else. Could it be Adonis or Sohan? Maybe someone who needs some alone time? Feeling drawn to that, I gave in to my curiosity and without the person's knowledge, I started eavesdropping. And what I saw caught me off guard.

She didn't need to turn her face to me for me to know that it was her. I could sense it, could smell her scent from here. My eyes went to the ground and I saw a half of her skirt there. She is so out of her mind that she cut her dress with a fucking sword. But when did she learn how to use it? Kneeling down, so my legs wouldn't get tired, I watched her. And damn, she seemed frustrated as hell.

How amusing.

And if I'm being honest, she knows how to wield a sword well. Her stance is also right. Does anyone know about her being able to fight like this?

It was amusing to see her screaming frustrated and attacking the targets with the sword as if she could kill them. She's probably imagining me while hitting them. But then something strange happened, she threw the sword away and fell on her knees again, crying.

She was crying.

It made me uncomfortable. Especially because from where I was I could see her crying face perfectly. She should be ugly, it would make it easier.

Why isn't she ugly? She's probably the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. When my sister was still alive, I used to have a crush on her, but I acted as if I felt indifferent. But that turned into loath and that's how we are where we are now. So the fact that she's even more beautiful than she already was before, makes me even angrier.

I'm about two heads taller than her now, she has fair skin that looks like snow, long curly and golden hair, a perfect body in the shape of an hourglass to put it simply with that tiny waist of hers. Not to say about the cherry on the cake… her dangerous ruby-red eyes. I had forgotten about them, but now, seeing from where I am, they make her absurdly gorgeous. And it's annoying.

And now, this gorgeous creature I hate more than anything, is crying… It makes me sick.

I got up and disappeared from there. When I got back to my castle, no one but Adonis Veilo Rhory {the extremely good-looking brother of the Red King} and Sohan Meir Erebus {the charming bringer of light in the nether darkness} talked to me, realizing how furious I was. But those two took the opportunity to mock me.

"What made you so angry, Princess?" Sohan spoke with a damn grin on.

"That bitch dared to come here!" I said and both of their faces got a shade darker. They also hate her, which is good for me.

"What?" They questioned together.

"I don't want to talk about it now. I want to make her pay for what she did." I turned to Stephen, my secretary and the butler of my castle. "Find a way to organize all the girls from the Trials to stay on Avy's castle. And make sure that Nsomi Eileithya D'Arcy is located in my sister's room and put Emilia, that girl who was my sister's nanny, as her maid-in-waiting."

That caught both the boys and the butler by surprise, but Stephen left to do what I ordered. "Are you sure?" Sohan asked.

"I've never been so sure in my life. She didn't come to my sister's funeral, never set her foot in this place since she died, and neither visit her grave. I'm Gods-damn sure she must be terrified of facing anything related to Avyanna," I let a grin take over my lips. "This is going to break her more than anything."

They both seemed pleased with my idea. Now we only have to wait three days until the big day.

"I'm going to make of her life a living nightmare," I exclaimed more to myself than to my best friends.
