“Why is the atmosphere so tense over a dealer?” Brandon asked after I had freshened up at one of their research tents.

“Derek is a demon; human but very demon. Even if you threaten him, he won’t give me his blood for free.” I explained.

“But you said his family has a generational contract with you.” Elijah said and I nodded.

“However, the condition states that I cannot take their blood outside their presence without permission or till the contract ends. It’s a blood covenant and Lea is the caster so it is just as unbreakable as my mother, the only person whose blood can help is my daughter or an infected who survived so I can create a vaccine.” I explained as I breathed softly.

“What of your past research?” Brandon asked.

“Klaus buried it somewhere and let’s say we’re not all kiss and hug to have it for free. Derek’s demand will be more tolerable
