LIAM'S POV
I dragged myself up the stairs. My legs felt like they would give away any moment but I didn’t dare to stop. I had to kill Eva and Alex before that hooded creature got angry and summoned me again.
How would I kill them? Eva didn’t even keep a gun so it wasn’t possible to steal one. I could stab them with a kitchen knife or suffocate them or maybe bang their head against the wall. I would need to separate them. It wouldn’t be practical to fight both of them at the same time.
EVA'S POVWalking hand in hand with Alex under the star-studded sky would have been the most romantic thing to do. If only we were not desperately searching for the golden shifters. It was close to midnight and the road was deserted. My plan of taking a taxi till the El Nina check post had turned into dust. With the recent turn of events, no one wanted to go in the direction of El Rosa. We were left with no option but to walk back. “Alex…” I said grasping his right arm.
EVA'S POVI looked around frantically. My heart thudded against my ribs as hundreds of apprehensions flooded my mind. Just then I caught a glimpse of a foot peeking out from behind an oak tree. My brows furrowed in confusion. It looked like Alex’s foot. What was he doing behind the tree? Then, it struck me. He was trying to get back at me for not listening to him the previous night. I was not someone to be defeated so easily.
ALEX'S POVThe moment I entered the Eucalyptus forest I started feeling very different; not exactly bad but a bit weird. It was as if someone or something was calling out to me; like there was someone on the other side of the forest who was waiting for me. I shook my head to get rid of these weird thoughts but they persisted. For one second, I wondered if it had anything to do with the tattoo that had suddenly emerged on my arm but then I shrugged it off. “Alex…Wait for me.” Whe
EVA'S POVI didn’t like the eagerness with which Alex followed the men. They were all drop-dead gorgeous, but still, they were strangers. But what could I do? Since Alex agreed, I had to tag along.I had a feeling that Alex was changing gradually, not necessarily in the wrong way, but he was behaving differently. I sucked in my breath when I saw the palace. Made in beautiful Redstone, it stretched in both directions far beyond what I could see.
EVA'S POVI watched in wonder as he turned into a beam of golden light in one moment and was standing close to us in the next. Loud gasps filled the room, and everyone bowed their heads. I could see the king’s features clearly now that he was standing close to me. I couldn’t help but note an uncanny resemblance between him and Alex. Was he related to Alex in some way, or was this a mere coincidence?Displeasure was eviden
ALEX'S POVI felt so frustrated the moment he called himself my father. Where was he all this while? Where was he when my mother was lying in the hospital? The knowledge that he had abandoned my mother tore me from the inside. I could forgive him for leaving me, but how could I forgive him for deserting my mother; that too when she needed him the most. If he was a normal human being, I could still understand. But, he was a powerful Golden Shifter, someone who is supposed to have immense power. Then, why was my mother left to die alone in the hospital? Couldn’t he have cured her with his powers?
EVA'S POVI let out a sigh and got up. Now, we would have to walk through those winding passages again. Just a few minutes ago, I was feeling exhausted, but now I felt light and happy. Perhaps it was the effect of Alex’s powers. It was so ironic. Wasn’t it just the last year when Alex had absorbed some of my powers, and I had to guard him so that we could hide his ability from him? And, now, I am the one who has to be careful of his powers. It felt like the roles had reversed. It wasn’t such a bad thing. I wouldn’t have
ALEX'S POVI didn’t feel like leaving Eva alone, but she was already tired. Her legs would ache if she had to keep walking through the passages. It wasn’t convenient for me to carry her either. It seemed a bit awkward to carry Eva while Victoria walked. Moreover, it was the King’s order. I still had to figure things out and didn’t want to piss me off, at least not yet. I slowly extracted my arm from Victoria’s hold, trying extra careful not to seem rude. I decided to make the most of the situation by gett
