3:00pm ....
Jenna emerged from the grand entrance of the charity event hall with her father and mother, they were greeted by a chaotic swarm of flashing cameras and eager reporters. The atmosphere crackled with excitement as the media eagerly vied for the perfect shot of the picture-perfect family.
They were literally the society's standard for a perfect and loving family.
Jenna's father, Franco Thatcher, with his tailored suit and confident smile, played his part effortlessly. He extended his hand to the reporters, engaging in polite conversation and sharing a well-rehearsed charm. Standing beside him, Jenna's mother, Elizabeth, exuded elegance and grace, her warm smile captivating everyone around her. The cameras adored her as she graciously waved, acknowledging the public's admiration.
And then there was Jenna, the only child of the Thatcher family. With her radiant smile and sparkling eyes, she seemed to bask in the limelight, giving off an air of genuine enthusiasm. She skillfully maneuvered through the chaos, playing the role of the loving daughter and daddy's girl with ease. She leaned into her father's side, her smile beaming as she waved to the onlookers.
As the flashing lights began to dim, the family made their way towards the sleek black limousine waiting at the curb.
Jenna's heart pounded as the limousine door closed behind her, enclosing her in a cocoon of privacy. The muffled sound of the paparazzi's shouts and camera clicks barely reached her ears, but the weight of their scrutiny still lingered in the air. The harsh glare of the camera flashes had temporarily blinded her, but she had smiled and waved, as expected.
Franco's face darkened, his carefully crafted facade faltering as soon as the limousine doors closed behind them.
"What the hell did you think you were doing in there?!" he exploded, his voice filled with a mix of anger and frustration. Jenna's heart skipped a beat, her father's sudden outburst almost catching her off guard.
"I don't know what you're talking about Dad," she replied stubbornly looking away from him, defiance swirling within her.
She knew exactly what he was talking about, but still decided to play dumb.
"Oh please! Don't try that with me today Jenna!" He snapped.
His face contorted with rage, his brows furrowing as he unleashed his pent-up frustrations. He had being hoping to have a one on one conversation with the president today but he didn't get the chance, but then his daughter got the chance to talk to the president son and she messed it up!
"You embarrassed me in front of the president's son, Jenna!"
" I've been trying to foster a relationship with him for so long, and you couldn't even bother to exchange a few polite words!"
Jenna's defiance burned brighter within her, fueling her determination to stand her ground. She crossed her arms, her voice cutting through the tense air.
"I don't like him Dad, and I wasn't going to play pretend," she retorted,
"He's just another entitled rich kid who thinks he can get whatever he wants."
Franco's face reddened, his anger deepening. "That 'entitled rich kid' happens to be the son of the President," he seethed.
"I was trying to build connections, to secure a future for our family!"
"I really don't care!"
"Calm down Jenna, please listen to your father," her mom said calmly from where she was seated watching their drama.
"Stay out of this Eliza!"
"Don't tell me that mom!" They replied simultaneously.
"You've always tried to mould me into something I'm not!"
"Don't you understand that, I have my own aspirations, my own dreams."
"You forcefully made me take up the business even when I clearly told you I wanted to be a fashion designer!"
"I'm old enough dad! I won't let you dish out orders on how to live my life again!"
Her words struck a nerve, fueling her father's rage even further.
"You think you know better, don't you? You're just a naive child, incapable of understanding the sacrifices I've made for you!" He said and she scoffed facing the other way.
"Sacrifice you made ?! Or sacrifice I have had to make for the family all my life!" She retorted
"Jenna!" Her mom called in caution.
"I'm tired of being controlled, Mom," she said her voice breaking as she turned to her Mom.
"First he tried to force me to get a body guard and now he's trying dictate who I'm friends with?!" She added angrily.
"You don't understand, Jenna," she said softly.
"This is bigger than you. Bigger than us. We have a reputation to uphold, a legacy to protect." She said as she place her hands on her thigh
Jenna shook her head, her voice now more steady.
" At what cost, Mom? At the cost of my own happiness?"
"Happiness is overrated!" Her Dad snapped.
"And yes! You definitely are getting a bodyguard, that's not even up for debate!"
"I just haven't found the perfect person, once I do, you have no choice!"
"You're joking Dad!"
"I can't continue to live in your shadow, to pretend that everything is perfect when it's not." She retorted, but he didn't say anything after that.
Silence enveloped the car, punctuated only by their heavy breathing. The weight of their disagreement hung between them, a wall of unspoken emotions.
The limousine seemed to tremble with the intensity of their emotions, the silence becoming a battleground for their clash of wills. Jenna's words hung in the air, lingering between them like an unspoken challenge.
They both knew, deep down, that this disagreement was far from resolved, and the echoes of their heated argument would linger, their consequences yet to be fully realized.
Later that Day ....
At a Bar...
*"I'm old enough dad! I won't let you dish out orders on how to live my life again!"*
*"I'm tired of being controlled, Mom,"*
Jenna's words replayed in Franco's head as he took a shot of alcohol.
He stared into his shot glass, the amber liquid swirling, mirroring the turmoil in his mind.
As Franco swirled the burning liquid in his glass, Jenna's defiant words continued to echo in his mind. The weight of their argument burdened him, and his heart ached with anger. He downed another shot, hoping the alcohol would numb his anger, but instead, it fueled his thoughts even more.
Lost in his thoughts, Franco barely noticed the commotion that suddenly erupted within the bar. A burst of chaos tore his attention away from his internal turmoil, and he slowly turned to where the noise was coming from.
A man, his face hidden beneath a hoodie, darted through the crowd, clutching a woman's purse in his hand.
"Ugghh! My issues with these local bars!" He hissed frustratingly as he turned fully to see how the situation would unfold.
Amidst the chaos, a stranger stood up from his table with fluid speed, he was tall and imposing, his physique hinting at a lifetime of physical training. Clad in a simple yet well-fitted polo and pant trousers, he exuded an air of quiet confidence. Without hesitation, he sprang into action, swiftly intercepting the thief's path.
Franco's eyes widened in awe as he witnessed his incredible skill. It was as if his movements were choreographed, a dance of precision and grace. In a matter of seconds, he disarmed the thief, restraining him with expertly applied holds. The bar erupted in applause and sigh of relief, grateful for the swift intervention.
As Franco watched the scene unfold, a flicker of admiration sparked within him. Although he maintained his poise and finesse, he couldn't help but want to meet this guy, he would make the perfect bodyguard for his daughter.
As the bar settled down, the mysterious hero walked back toward his seat, and he caught Franco's eye on him.
Sensing Franco's admiration, he was sure that he had caught his attention, he nodded very slightly, one that was difficult to see, in acknowledgment, a slight smile playing on his lips.
****
"Toluwanimi!"
"What?! How do I pronounce that?!" Franco asked and he smiled.
"Call me Nimi," The mysterious bar hero said as he stretched his hands out to Franco.
"I earnestly look forward to protecting your daughter!" He said with a wide smile that touched his eyes as Franco took his hand.
Two weeks later ….“I don’t trust you, where are you taking me to,” Jenna said turning to Quinn.“I don’t understand, can’t me and my friend just dress up and go out?!” She asked and Jenna nodded with a small smile.“Okay then, whatever you say,” Jenna replied as she relaxed in her seat and took out her phone. It’s been two weeks since Franco and Elizabeth were arrested, although they tried to be smart on the court day but they weren’t so lucky, Franco was sentenced to life in prison and Elizabeth Ten years in prison.Franco committed suicide two days later but Elizabeth decided to do her terms in the realization that she deserved whatever was coming to her.She had a conversation with Annabeth, Fiona and Jenna already and she apologized to them, she admitted her wrongs and they forgave her, especially Jenna, Elizabeth was more than a mother to her than the rest of them and she loved her also.Annabeth left Canada about three days ago to go back and see her adopted family, and their l
Jenna huffed silently as she slowly looked down at her hand that Nimi had suddenly dropped and slowly tucked it in her back pocket, she had totally forgotten that Nimi mentioned he had something to do with her in the past.“You have no idea how happy I am to see you,” Nimi whispered as he disengaged from the hug and pulled her into another hug.Fiona chuckled lightly as she wrapped her hands tightly around him also, and others just sat back and watched in confusion.“It’s good to see you survived everything that happened back then, I tried to find you I promise,” he whispered and she nodded gently with a small smile.“It’s fine, you couldn’t have found me anyways, I’m happy you’re still alive also,” she said and he nodded slowly.“Well I am,” he replied , she gently held his hands and led him towards the table, Jenna exhaled deeply as she walked in behind them, just as she was about to take her seat, Fiona pulled out the chair and sat beside Nimi.Wordlessly Jenna rounded the table an
“Oh my God,” Jenna exhaled deeply as she walked towards her room and pulled the door open, Nimi quickly reached forward and pulled her back,“What are you doing?!” He asked pulling her close to himself and closed the door behind her.“Going to my room, what’s going on,” she whispered looking at him so lost.“What happened to staying with me in my room,” he whispered and her lips slowly curved into a smile realization dawning on her.“You’re a bad boy,” she whispered and he laughed as he slowly took her lips in a kiss and they made their way towards his room in a zigzag unsteady motion.“I could kiss you all day,” he whispered to her as soon as they got into his room, and she chuckled as they disengaged from the kiss.“It’s so nice to finally be in your family’s good book,” she said and he smiled, “Oh, you’re not very difficult to like, you eventually charmed them, I saw that coming,” he replied and she released a small laugh.“It didn’t quite seem like that two days ago though,” she
“What gave you the right Tolu, who exactly do you think you are to pull that rubbish stunt on me!” Nimi growled, Becky stood up at once and walked towards her children.“What’s going on Nimi, tell me what happened!” She said, Nimi slowly took his eyes off Tolu and it landed on their mother.“Can you believe she actually paid Debbie to go out with me!” He yelled his veins nearly popping out.“Haba! Tolu!” Becky exclaimed as she turned to look at her.“Was that how horrible I looked to you! I told you to trust me that I had everything under control,” he spat angrily.“And then you went ahead to pay someone to go out with me?! For what?! As what!”“You paid someone to go out with me?! The more I think about it the more annoyed I get! To think that I was even worried and felt guilty for Debbie and then I find out she wasn’t really into me!”“What if I had fallen in love with her?!”“I was just trying to help,” Tolu retorted.“You look like you needed company, I just wanted to help you!”
He slowly broke off the kiss and he looked up at her, Jenna didn’t waste time in slamming her lips back on his, he moved her closer to himself as he deepened the kiss and took charge. He stood up from the chair and carried her in his arms as they continued kissing all the way to his room.Immediately they got to the room he placed her on the bed and knelt in front of her, “Never you consider leaving me again!” He muttered as he slowly unbuttoned her pyjamas.“I can’t think straight when you’re close,” he muttered as he gently took her top off and her body came bare before him, he resumed kissing her as he gently laid her on the bed not breaking off the kiss, Jenna moaned as his arms roamed her body and her hands slowly made its way to unbuttoning his shirt also.*****The sun rays filtered in through the window, Jenna squinted her eyes in her sleep before they finally fluttered open. She looked beside her and the other side of the bed was empty, her face reddened as she pushed the du
“I don’t like her for you!”“And when have I said I want to be with her again?! I’m willing to listen to you and Tolu, you’re right Loving her had cost me a lot,” he said.“At the risk of your own happiness?! You don’t have to say anything to me Nimi, it’s written all over your face, you’re still inlove with her,” she said to him and his shoulders slowly slumped and his head curved downwards.“Why Nimi?! Why did you chose such a painful love,” she whispered.“What then do you want from me !” He muttered resignately.“I want to see you happy, I want you to look at your wife the way you look at Jenna, and you have never looked at Debbie this way,”“As much as I don’t like her for you, I don’t want you unhappy,” she said, just as he was about to reply, her phone began to ring and it was a video call from Tolu.“Mom have you heard what your son has been up to recently, can you believe that white girl is in the country and he picked her over me!” Tolu ranted as soon as the call got connect
