CHAPTER 21

Mykel seemed to calm down upon seeing Lily's tears fall.

"I'm sorry," Mykel softly said as he gently wiped away her tears. Lily pushed Mykel's hand away and looked straight into his eyes.

"Does your life revolve around revenge?" Lily asked.

"It's not like that, Lily. I was just excited," Mykel explained, unsure of how to comfort Lily. "I understand you, Mykel. But shouting at me over a damn piece of paper? That's what I can't comprehend," Lily said, raising her voice.

"If that's the case, you don't really understand me, Lily. I need that paper to get back at Kevin," Mykel explained.

"But that's not a good enough reason to shout at me," Lily said.

"Is revenge the only thing that matters to you? What about me?" Lily asked softly. Mykel did not answer Lily's question. Instead, he took a step back. Without a word, he turned his back and walked out of the room. Lily sat back down and couldn't help but cry. She remained in her place for half an hour, weeping over Mykel's shouting and l
