Emily Entered the house, shouting on the top of her lungs, "mom, aunt, grandma." she shouted and everyone gathered in the living room. "what happened? why are you shouting?" Emily's mother asked, "Mom! Ari said yes." she excitedly ran towards her mom and spun her around. "Really?" Everett's mother asked and Emily nodded, a huge smile lacing on her face. Everyone looked at each other and passed an excited smile to each other. "Now I should Talk to Everett." Everett's mother said, "What do you mean you haven't discussed it with him yet." his father frowned looking at his mother, she Sheepishly smiled and nodded. "then go and talk to him, and what if he doesn't agree?" Everett's father asked, "How will he not agree? if he does not agree I will make him agree. don't worry." she said and walked upstairs towards Everett's room. Everett was sitting on the couch with his laptop on his lap, his total attention was in the mail he was reading but his attention shifted towards the door as he heard a knock on it. "yes," he said again focusing on his laptop. his mother stepped in and he glanced at her, "Everett I wanted to talk about something." Everett nodded at her words, indicating her to speak further. she walked towards him and took his laptop, placing it on the table. "Listen to me first." Everett groaned and looked at his mother. "Alright, what is it?" he asked. "I am already in love with Arizona and I want her to live with us." his mother said and he frowned, "Great, you can adopt her." just to get hit on his head. "Are you out of your mind? I want you to marry her." she declared making him Chuckle, "Nah mom, I am not marrying anyone." "all your cousins are now reaching the age of getting married, and here you are the oldest and still refusing to get married." his mother sat next to him and he looked at her. "it's not like I am stopping anyone." "but the society is, my decision is final you will get married to her and she is ready to marry you. no excuses." she clearly declared leaving no room for argument. he stared at her and he felt something he couldn't quite name, when he heard that she is ready to marry him. he looked at his mother who stepped out of his room and he threw his head back, running his hands through his hairs. 'Am I good enough for her?' ............... "Everett!" Everett was walking towards his car when his mother's voice made him stop on his tracks, he turned around to face his mother, "What is it mom?" "Leave early from the office and go to the abc café." His mother's words confused Everett and he frowned. "Why would I go to a café?" he asked his mother, making her sigh "You have to pick Ari from there, she works at that café... Pick her up at nine, that's when her shift gets over and take her to somewhere for dinner. know her more, and let her know you more." Everett sighed at his mother's words but obviously he couldn't deny her, something inside him was willing to meet Arizona. "Sure mom," "Drive safe," his mother said as he sat in his car and drove towards his office. ............ Arizona was taking orders it was almost nine pm, which meant her shift will get over soon and she could finally go home and rest. she took the orders hurriedly and when she saw no one was left someone came inside, wearing a long coat, a mask on his face. she sighed and closed her eyes in frustration, she wanted to go home, "What would you like to have sir?" she asked, her voice laced with exhaustion. "Your time," she raised her gaze to meet his, a frown lacing her face. "pardon?" Everett slowly removed his mask and looked at her. "let's go have dinner, You must be hungry." he whispered, Arizona was silent but she was shaken by her co worker, "Ari it's my shift now, go fast." she said excitedly looking at Everett, ofcourse everyone knew him. Arizona nodded and looked at him, "I am waiting in the car, Come fast." he said and walked outside. After changing Arizona walked out of the café and saw him leaning on his car, she bites her lips and looked at her baggy clothes, she was looking like a clown, not because she was wearing baggy clothes. but because he was dressed in formals looking ethereal. As she walked towards him, he opened the door of passenger seat for her and she forced a smile before settling inside. "You don't have to do all this, I know you are agreeing to this because you pity me." she sucked a deep breath and looked out of the window. "Are you willing to marry me?" He asked making her look at him, she stayed silent and looked down. "Marry me if you want to marry me, not because of my family." he focused on the road, "If you are willing to marry me, I am willing to marry you but if you are not willing to marry me or maybe you like someone else I can say no." Arizona replied. "I am not sure if I would be able to provide you everything you deserve." he said as he pulled the car in the parking, She looked at him and nodded, "So you want me to say no?" "not at all," he replied and looked at her. her innocent gaze captured by his dark ones. "I don't want you to pamper me or provide me with things, it's fine if you don't make me happy, but please don't make me sad." she replied, her voice laced with sadness. Her mind travelling back to the day when she found out that the people she always thought were her parents were not actually her parents. "And I would never want to be a burden on you and your family," she looked at her lap and fidget with her fingers. "Arizona.... Ari you will never be a burden on me or anyone, You deserve everything it was never your fault, and there is a huge difference between burden, responsibility and care." he explained and stepped out of the car, he walked towards her side and opened the door for her. she looked at him and got out of the car, She shifted her gaze just to witness she was standing in front of the most expensive restaurant of the city, for sure Everett wasn't a joke.{Third person's pov}Everett stepped out of his car and opened the door for Arizona, They both walked inside the campus together.Everett was talk of the town and everyone in the college knew him, and seeing Arizona with him people were both confused and curious.Arizona held her bag tightly, she wasn't liking those looks from the students, and what surprised her further was Everett intertwining his fingers with hers. She immediately looked at him but his face was all calm and composed.“If they’re going to look anyway, let them look properly. No one here should mistake you for someone standing alone.”His thumb brushed once against the back of her hand, small, grounding. As they approached the administrative block, a few professors straightened immediately upon seeing him. Students moved aside almost instinctively.Everett didn’t slow down. The authority around him was effortless. But the moment he noticed Arizona clutching her bag tighter again, his tone softened just slightly.“Bre
{Third person's pov}Everett’s expression changed instantly. Something far more dangerous to a man like him.His eyes searched hers for a brief second, like he was making sure she truly meant it.Then, without a word, he opened his arms slightly. The invitation was enough. The moment she stepped closer, Everett’s arms wrapped around her carefully, but completely. One hand settled at the back of her head, the other around her waist, pulling her against his chest with a steadiness that felt protective rather than possessive. He was warm.Safe in a way she probably hadn’t experienced before. And Everett… held her like she was something fragile he had no intention of letting break again. His hand moved slowly through her hair once, calming, while his chin rested lightly against the top of her head.“You don’t have to earn comfort here,” he murmured. The words were low enough to vibrate against her skin.“And you don’t have to ask permission for it either.”For a long moment, he simply sto
{Third person's pov}The bathroom door was still shut, water running softly inside while Everett sat there in silence, staring at the phone resting on the nightstand. He wasn’t angry because she had a life before marriage. But something about the message, about the familiarity of it, unsettled him more than he expected. And Everett hated unexpected feelings. The bathroom door finally clicked open..Arizona stepped out, drying her damp hands slightly before pausing. Because Everett was looking at her.His fingers tapped once against the phone beside him.“Max,” he said calmly. “Who is he?”“And before you answer,” he added quietly, “I’d prefer the truth over comfort.”Arizona sighed, "Just a classmate from the college." She said and sat infront of the dressing table to dry her hair.Everett watched her through the mirror, “Classmate,” he repeated slowly, like he was testing the word against the message he had read. His gaze shifted briefly to the phone again before returning to her refl
{Third person's pov}Arizona was sitting on the couch and reading a book when Everett came back. As soon as she saw him she closed the book and looked at him, "Should I bring water?" She asked.Everett shook his head, "When are you rejoining your college?" He asked and before she could answer he added."From tomorrow, you should join your college." Arizona blinked, visibly caught off guard.“Tomorrow?” she repeated softly, almost unsure if she heard him correctly.Everett loosened his cufflinks as he walked further into the room, expression unreadable. “Yes,” he said simply. “Why not?”“You’re married, not imprisoned.” The words landed heavier than he intended. His jaw tightened slightly, like he realized something about her silence, but chose not to push yet.Instead, he placed his phone on the table and looked at her properly. “You were studying before this marriage,” he continued, voice calm, practical. “You’ll continue now too.”“As long as you want to study, you will.” Arizona s
{Third person's pov}Arizona woke up and found the bed empty, She looked at the clock and it was already nine am, she cursed under her breath and got up from the bed.She was making her way towards the bathroom when the door clicked open and she paused. There stood her husband, in nothing but just a towel around his waist, water droplets were falling from his hair and travelling all the way down to his chest and abs. She sucked a deep breath, Her heart was beating wildly, she realised she was staring at him and then she immediately turned around. "I am sorry, I didn't see anything..." Everett paused the moment he saw her. Not because of her words, but because of the way she turned so quickly, almost startled. For a second, he just stood there, water still dripping from his hair, completely unbothered… until he noticed how stiff her posture was.“I would hope so,” he said dryly, grabbing a towel from the chair and running it through his hair, tone calm as ever. “It’s your room too.”
{Third person's pov}Arizona was inside the wardrobe trying to change her wedding dress but she couldn't open the strings of her corset. She sighed when she failed once again in opening the string, Slowly she turned around and made her way towards the room. "Um... can you help me with this?" She asked as she spotted Everett sitting on the couch and doing something on his laptop.Everett didn’t look up immediately. His fingers paused on the keyboard for just a second, enough to register her voice, her hesitation. Then he closed the laptop. Slowly. Deliberately. When he looked up, his gaze went to her… then to the back of her dress where the corset strings were tied.A brief silence. Not awkward, measured. He stood up, setting the laptop aside, and walked toward her without a word. His steps were calm, unhurried… but there was a certain awareness in the way he stopped behind her, leaving just enough space.“Turn around,” he said quietly. Not cold. Just direct.Once she did, his hands
