Chapter 69

Jordy's POV

"Jordy, open your eyes, Jordy... Jordy!" I heard a voice calling by my ear repeatedly.

Many times I tried to open my eyes, but it was futile, as my body and mind were trapped in darkness.

When I wake up from my unconscious state, without needing a doctor's examination, I know I have a high fever. My chest is in pain. In the car accident, several bones in my chest may have shattered.

When I try to move my head, I feel like a jumble of pain. "Ouch!" I moan.

"Jordy?! You're awake!"

Before I react, before I try to catch my breath, Emma brings her hand up and cups my cheeks, sliding her thumb over my cheekbone.

"Emma?" I say, lifting my head to kiss her. But the pain stops me.

While I'm grappling with that, she closes the distance between us and her mouth meets mine.

Darkness burns to ash then, bright white and cleansing. Every pain, every thought, everything goes from my mind in a second as her life moves over mine.
