Chapter 22
ANDREW
Two days. It has been two days that Lyra has been sleeping. James stays with her during the day while I attend to the pack, and I stay with her at night. We barely speak to one another anymore. Just a grumbled “hello,” as we pass each other in the halls. As much as I hate to admit it, I miss my best friend. On days that I can come home early I peek in on James and Lyra. His attention never waivers from her. I find him reading to her, gently combing out her hair, and telling her stories. Jealousy fills my soul when I watch them together. Her face is always peaceful when he is around, as if she can feel his presence and it calms her. She never looks as peaceful when I curl up beside her at night.
“If she continues to stay out much long we will need to move her to the hospital,” the pack doctor says as he carefully takes Lyra’s vitals.
“Absolutely not,” I growl. “She is not leaving this house.”

LYRAIt feels like a thousand different emotions are pushing their way through my mind. Guilt and shame are at the forefront, and I know those emotions are not coming from me. “Good,” I grumble as I stomp my way up the stairs. “I hope he feels awful.” James’s room is the first door to the left of the stairs. I raise my hand to knock on the door, but I hesitate. LYRAAndrew tosses me on his bed, and I land with a bounce. Once his hands are no longer on my body I have time regain my self-control. James’s scent is still on her, and it sends a wave of frustration through my body. The scent of another male on her should make me angry, but it actually makes her smell more enticing. Maybe she was right, I do not mind the smell because this is how it is supposed to be. I shake that thought from my mind, still unable to accept the truth that she has another mate. LYRAAs my vision slowly returns, I try to raise my hands to wipe the crust from my eyes, but a burning sensation around my wrists keeps me from trying to lift them. I can feel heavy cuffs around my wrists and ankles, and I know that I have been bound by silver. The silver cuffs will keep me from using any of my werewolf abilities. My eyes try to adjust to the darkness around me but without my wolf, my senses are equal to that of a human. I cannot even growl in frustration. Glancing around in the darkness, I can barely make out a bed and a toilet. The floor feels cold under my feet. The walls are nothing more than cement blocks and there is a single door with a tiny window at the top. Surveying the room I try to formulate a plan of escape, but there are no windows or vents that I can fit through.
