Chapter Twenty

In Heat.

“I’m telling you Lance, something isn’t right. A pack princess shouldn’t be here!”

After stripping the bed and remaking it, I planned to take a shower. I turned on the water but left my clothing on the chair by the side of my bed. Still not comfortable to parade around in just a towel, I let the shower run as I re-enter the main room to grab my clothes. Blake had gone out for a morning run so I was surprised to hear her voice.

“Also, she’s suffering from trauma!”

“What do you mean?” Lance’s low sexy voice questions his cousin.

“She has nightmares every night. Have you not noticed why she falls asleep early? She prevents herself from sleeping to avoid the nightmares!” I hear Blake’s hushed tones from the courtyard. She must have thought I was still in the shower.

“Maybe you shouldn’t go to the Hansen pack?” Blake says to Lance.

“Why?”

“I don’t know, our girl seems to be in self-destruct mode.”

“Maybe I’ll tell Axel to stay here!?”

“Axel?” Blake moans.
