Chapter 5

Luke's POV...

I still was trying to grasp everything that had happened in the last few weeks. From the moment Willow had entered our land I had a pull to her. I could feel everything she was feeling. She was scared and didn't know what had happened to her. I knew the answers to some of her questions but I couldn't just come out and say hey you're a wolf.

No. She had to figure it out on her own. For some reason she was blocking out her transformation. My father had said that something dramatic had happened when she first shifted and that was why she was blocking it. I just wish I knew what had happened so I could help her.

I also was very concerned about the creature I had seen almost attack Willow. I hadn't yet told my parents about it because I wasn't sure if I had seen it correctly. Who am I kidding? My eyesight is the best when I am in my wolf form. I did know what I saw and that means trouble.

My family has been lucky and never had any encounters with them before. The stories though had been told to us. These creatures are vial, ruthless murderers. The are almost impossible to kill but our kind has been able to. Humans don't even notice them since they were once human. Vampires.

I knew that I needed to tell my father because if there was vampires in the area we needed to be on the look out. I went out to my parents who were getting ready to go for a run. "Dad I need to tell you something."

He looked at me. "What is it son?"

"When I saved Willow I saw something else out there. I think I saw a vampire. He was about to attack Willow and I also think he was the one who killed the bear."

"Are you sure that is what you saw?" I nodded.

"It's the only thing that I can think of that could take on a bear besides us. When he saw me he backed off and left."

"Did he follow you?" I shrugged my shoulders.

"I'm not sure. I was only worried about getting Willow home." My father took off out of the house before I could say anything else. He had transformed before he had hit the ground. He was a natural. I took off behind him.

When we reached the treeline my father stopped. "Do you smell it? He definitely followed you." The moment he said that I got a good smell of what he smelt. The odor was hard to miss. I don't know how I hadn't picked up on it before.

"What now?" I asked him.

"Well first we need to go back and tell your mother. Then we need to keep an eye out and start patrolling the area. I am not sure why he followed you or if he will come back but we need to be ready."

My father's ears perked up and he started growling at something behind me. That's when I felt her. She was scared and didn't know what was happening. I turned and ran in her direction. I caught her scent immediately and followed it. She was running as fast as she could. My father was close behind me.

I came to the cave where I had first found her. She was hiding inside again. I approached the entrance slowly and reached out to her mentally. "Willow. It's okay. We won't hurt you sweetheart. I need you to come out so I can explain things to you." I saw her slowly coming out of the shadows. She was more beautiful than I had even thought. Her pure white fur and emerald green eyes called out. The tips of her ears and tail had hints of brown in them.

"Luke? What in the hell is happening to me?"

Willow's POV...

I woke in a sweat as my nightmares were starting to feel more and more real. I got up and walked out onto the porch. The cold air felt amazing. My body was on fire and it was tingling. I felt like something was crawling on me. No not on me but inside me. I looked out trying to calm myself when I saw Jim come flying out of the house.

I watched in total disbelief as the man leaped off the porch but when he landed on the ground he was no longer a man but a solid black wolf. My body was starting to tingle and itch more. What in the hell is happening? That's when I saw Luke. It was as if seeing him brought out whatever was trying to get out of me.

He followed suite with his father and they both took off twords the trees. I felt this urge to go with them. Well, to go be with Luke. My body was calling to him. I started to run after them and as I jumped off the porch I felt my body changing. I could feel muscles stretching and when I landed I was on all fours. I was covered in white fur and my senses were all hightened.

I was freaking out. What in the hell is this? Am I dreaming still? I kept running chasing Luke and his father. They would have answers. Wait, what if they try to attack me? My mind was all over and I was panicking. I was so messed up I ran past them and just kept running.

I heard something behind me but I didn't stop until I reached the cave that I had hid in before. I ran inside and as far back as I could. I was losing it mentally I had to be. There is no possibly reason for any of this to be true. That's when I felt him. Then I heard him call out to me. How is this even possible?

"Willow. Its okay. We won't hurt you sweetheart. I need you to come out so we can explain everything to you." His voice was calm and soothing. I don't know why but I instinctly felt like I could trust him. I needed answers. I slowly made my way out of the shadows.

"Luke? What in the hell is happening to me?" I stopped just at the entrance to the cave. I whined a little bit as I felt like it was my place to almost bow before him and his father.

"Hush now child. Let's get you back to the cabin and I promise everything will be explained." His father's voice entered my head. The pull to obey him was powerful. He turned and started back to the cabin. Luke looked at me and then came to my side as to encourage me to follow.

I followed behind him with Luke beside me. He was the only thing keeping me calm for some reason. I don't know how to describe the pull I had to Luke all of a sudden. It was almost like I could feel him. He was staying calm and collected so I was to.

When we finally got back to the cabin Martha was waiting on the porch. She had a big blanket in her hand. I didn't know why at first until I saw Jim jump up on the porch and shift back into a human. He was completely naked.

"Oh my god they are going to see me naked."

"Don't worry Willow. That is why mom has the blanket." Luke's soothing voice rang out in my head and then he looked at Martha. She immediately walked twords me with the blanket. Once she had positioned herself between me and Luke his voice entered my head again.

"Ok I want you to focus. Take deep and relaxing breaths in and out. Picture your human form and then go with the feeling. Don't fight it." I did everything he said and before I knew it I was standing upright in front of Martha. She quickly wrapped the blanket around me and ushered me in the house.

I felt Luke change but I didn't turn around. I went straight to the room and closed the door. I grabbed clothes and got dressed. Then I sat on the bed and I could feel the confusion and frustration setting in. I needed to know what the hell was going on. I got up and walked out of the room and down to the living room.

Everyone was sitting in the living room waiting for me. "Please tell me what is happening to me?" I pleaded with them as I took a seat on the couch. Luke looked at his father and then back at me.

"Willow, we are what most call werewolves. There are not many of us left in this world but the few that are left àre spread out." Jim's words were confusing.

"But I don't understand how I am one. Did something happen to me? Was I like bitten by one of your kind?" Everyone snickered a little bit. Luke moved to the couch next to me.

"No sweetness. You have to have the gene somewhere in your blood line. You are thinking of vampires. They are the ones who have to bite you to change you." He laughed again.

"I still don't know how I am a werewolf. As far as I know nobody in my family turns into a wolf."

"Well it has to be in the line somewhere." I thought about it for a few minutes. My father. I don't know anything about him.

"Maybe on my father's side. I don't know anything about him. All my mother ever said to me was that he was a one night stand." Everyone got quite for a minute. Then Jim stood and walked over to me.

"I'm sorry you didn't know your father. If he is the one who carries the gene then that is why you are able to shift. I am also sorry that no one was around to help you and explain this to you."

"Well I mean you guys are here now and this is the first time I have changed. Isn't it?" Luke put his hand on mine.

"We believe that you have changed before but for some reason you are blocking it out. It explains why I was able to track you down. I could feel you. I could feel your hurt and confusion." I was now in real disbelief. Had everything that I had been dreaming about been real?

"Do you remember anything that may have been a tramatic time for you? Sometimes a tramatic experience can trigger your transformation." Jim asked me. I couldn't tell them that I may have killed someone.

"No. I really don't. But if I'm blocking it I'm sure something will trigger the memory. So how do I learn to control this?"

Luke laughed and I looked at him. "You are amazing. You are handling this a lot better than I thought you would."

"Oh no I am freaking out but if you are telling me that this is who I am and I have to learn to live with it then I guess I need to figure that out."

"Well then tomorrow you and Luke can start working on how to control your shifts. For now I think we all need to get some sleep." Martha said as she stood up and headed down the hall. I yawned and realized I was extremely tired all of a sudden. I stood and Luke followed me as I headed down to my room.

"What are you doing Luke?" I smiled at him as I stopped at my door.

"I just wanted to make sure you are really ok."

I reached up and wrapped my arms around him in a hug. "Thank you for caring. I will be ok. It is a lot of information to take in but I am sure I will be ok." I pulled away and then turned to go into my room. Luke watched as I entered the room and closed the door. I stood at the door and I understood what he was saying about feeling me because I could feel everything he was feeling right now. That was going to take some getting use to. I sighed and walked away from the door. I laid down on the bed and fell asleep. I didn't have anymore nightmares the rest of the night.
