The phone call

Azlynn’s P.O.V.

The world around me blurred, making me oblivious of my surroundings, Xavion’s voice yanked me back to five years. The scenes of my heartbreak flashed across my mind, zipping my lips. His voice resounding in my ears after so long stirred something deep in my heart, making me shudder.

Seething in anger, that enraged star lashed out furiously.

“I took pity on your small company, giving you a chance to become famous overnight.

But you and your boss are ingrates. No one will ever sign with you.”

During his verbal onslaught, Daleyza showed me business news on her iPad, the headline of the article published one hour ago broke my trance.

“CA cooperation, a group of unprofessional rude ladies!”

 What?

I didn’t agree to sign Xavion, so he called his media touts to publish fake news about my company?

How dare he?

The tender emotions I felt a moment ago converted into a nuclear explosion, coursing poisonous venom through my veins. So, when he said,

“Is that how you treat your partners?” I snapped at him, “Mr. Xavion, you aren’t our client. We have no obligations to dance at your orders like others.”

 “Crap!”

Daleyza threw her hands in the air, panicking hard. She picked up a cushion from the nearby sofa, hitting my head to control my tongue. But it was in vain!

If Xavion was an Alpha, I wasn’t an inferior omega, he should watch his tongue before others.

Blinded by my rage, I didn’t notice the complete silence on the other side and scoffed.

“CA cooperation believes in professionalism. We have promised to deliver our best services to the players we will sign.

And what a coincidence! You aren’t in our list, Mr. Xavion.”

With that, I disconnected the call, huffing in anger.

 “Such an entitled jerk!

How can he even think that I will work with him after everything?”

Daleyza and Hayley gasped as my wolf pushed through the restraints, cursing him. I regretted the moment when I decided to part ways silently after break-up. I should have destroyed his football career to take revenge on him.

My nonstop train of regret was halted by Daleyza squeal, she clutched her chest.

 “So, it’s true!

You have really dated Alpha Xavion Waller before, Ann”

Howard had shared the sensitive information about my past, giving Daleyza the duty to protect me from any ugly confrontation. But she believed him now when I mentioned my stupidity of loving that egoistic Alpha.

Glancing at her fear-stricken face for a response, I was interrupted by Hayley’s innocent query, she asked me.

“Mommy, is he a bad uncle? Are we in danger?”

 Goddess!

Driven by my rage, I didn’t choose my words wisely in front of my child and terrorized her sensitive soul. So, I blocked my enraged wolf and kissed Hayley’s forehead, assuring her.

“Just relax, my precious honey. It’s a simple work issue. Mommy’s new job is difficult.”

Hayley’s tiny brain processed this information and gave it an entirely different meaning, she said,

“Hayley is a bad girl. I am sorry, Mommy. I didn’t mean to bother you.

We can go back and live in the Palace. I won’t demand anything.”

“My little baby!” Hayley’s words melted my heart; I pulled her closer to my chest.

“It’s nothing like that, my precious honey. You are the best girl in the world. Don’t worry, I will manage everything.”

“But how?”

My statement was cut short by Daleyza’s panicked voice, she was pacing back and forth impatiently.

“You have insulted the godfather, the big boss of Lake City. All sponsors, investors, media houses, everyone is in Alpha Xavion Waller’s hands.

He must have begun carnage until now. Your business has ended before starting, Ann.”

After spending a happy moment with Hayley, the haze of anger cleared from my brain, and it picked up its service, only to tremble my heart.

In just one phone call, I had dug my own grave and jumped into it willingly after attending my funeral. My professional life was concluded because of my idiocy.

“What to do now?” became the only query in my mind, hammering my head relentlessly. My airways constricted to imagine the consequences of my actions. Xavion wouldn’t digest his insult so easily and shut off my company for sure.

 Gosh! What would Howard say?

And most importantly, how would my dad react to it? How would he shame me for wasting money and jeopardizing Howard’s business?

Daleyza acted like my advisor in this calamity and advised me. “Call, Xavion and apologize to him, Ann. Perhaps, he will forgive you.”

Hell no!

I might haven’t see him for years, but one thing about him was a universal truth: There was no word of forgiveness in his dictionary. That hot-headed Alpha believed in bloodshed and vengeance only. He had beaten several players after the match in case of losing before.

Cursing myself, I was at loss of words to voice my dreads; however, the caller tune of my cell phone sliced through the air, diverting my attention.

Daleyza jumped in glee to see the caller’s ID.

“Thank Goddess! It’s Xavion!” And attended the call.

“I apologize for my secretary’s rude behavior. Please forgive us, Mr. Xavion …”

Her unhinged apology was responded to by a vexed growl, Xavion questioned her.

“What’s with the system of your company, Miss Daleyza? Why are you receiving your secretary calls?”

Daleyza quickly put the call on speakerphone and apologized again.

“Sorry, Mr. Waller! Ann is with me. I am firing her for her impudence.”

Daleyza grabbed her ears for apology and eyed me to speak as Xavion said,

“Your company is hardly a few hours old, and you are already dismissing your employees. How can you do that?

If you want your company to survive in the business hub, you will not fire Ann, Miss Daleyza.”

“T-That’s so generous of you, Mr. Waller.” As it seemed that Xavion was ready for negotiations, I tried my best to sound like a pitiful poor secretary, whose family was trying to make both ends meet. Like he was the only savior for me.

“I sincerely appreciate your kindness, Mr. Waller. You are indeed a benevolent man.”

Although these fake words of admiration made me barf, I had to endure it for my future. I couldn’t go back to my dad’s Palace as a failure so soon.

Xavion was satisfied as I spoon-fed his ego and spoke casually.

“It’s not a big deal, Miss Ann. I know that your boss has released an outrageous statement to impress the media, forcing you to be rude to me. It’s her fault!”

His ‘employ following orders’ approach gave us a clean chit miraculously, he offered out of the blue.

“Honestly speaking, I don’t like your boss, Miss Ann. So, let’s talk about business now.

Before the official start of the football season, I have arranged a Christmas party for sponsors and investors, inviting the cream of the Lake city.

I will be honored if you come to my party ...”

This sudden invitation sucked all the air from my lungs, pounding my heart against my rib cage. I was speechless due to one eighty-degree change in Xavion’s behavior.

He was undoubtedly a nut job, a ruthless, and vengeful spirit for his enemies. Then how could he revolutionize so much in just five years and forgive me promptly?

Bella peeked through the dark curtain of restraints and passed a snarky remark like a mean bully.

“His Luna must have taught him humanity, which you couldn’t do, dear Ann. That’s the magic of mate-bond!”

Bella always knew how to pinch my aching nerve exactly for a massive assault and hurt me. I was unable to utter a word after that painful reminder.

Sensing my unease, Daleyza continued the conversation respectfully.

“That’s a one in millions opportunity, Mr. Waller. We will definitely come to the party.

I can’t express my heartfelt gratitude for your favor ...”

Xavion heard her gratitude with complete silence, then his mysterious tone made me feel a cold pit in my stomach as he addressed me directly.

“Miss Ann, I would love to discuss business with you over whiskey. It’ll be fun to see you again ...”

Genuinely Curious

  • Football Star: The Jerk Alpha's Redemption    Epilogue

Azlynn’s P.O.V. The moment my Alpha command reverberated through silence, the blood seal flared white, emitting uncontrollable fire. The raging flames swirled around Demrid, engulfing him immediately. His agonizing screams fractured the air as he begged for mercy. Turning deaf ears to his pleading, I watched his soul ripped from the husk of his body, being devoured by the fire of justice. The bloodied red cross burned to ashes, erasing the mark as the reversal spell worked successfully, concluding the chapter of endless misery. The clean breeze, the silence of that night, and Demrid’s eventual death were something I couldn’t forget. It was still fresh in my mind even after one year. I had never thought that I would lose and gain so much in just one night. Like, the mating ceremony’s night was special for every she-wolf, starting a new phase of her life. But mine was a complete metamorphosis, changing me from head to toe. I became Alpha monarch from a simple queen in a matte

Azlynn’s P.O.V. I chuckled at Demrid’s overconfidence. He was certainly underestimating the extent of relief my family provided me just now. Alicia’s loyalty, her countless favors, and Delilah’s reunion with little Laura was enough positivity I needed in this dire situation. Last but not the least, Xavion, my mate, was with me. I could fight against Satan alone after seeing him. A self-acclaimed Devil couldn’t do anything when my family was with me! Staring back at Demrid fearlessly, I spoke bitterly. “Challenge accepted, Mr. Devil! As you have flexed your power, now it’s my turn to show what I can do.” The victorious grin on Demrid’s face was amusing, fueling my burning rage. I elongated my claws and scratched my palm a bit. “So, what were you saying about my blood?” Feigning ignorance, I waved my bloodied palm in front of Demrid. His hungry gaze followed my lead obediently. “Oh, yes! My blood is purer, laced with great strength. Isn’t it?” I moved ever so slowly, pouring

Xavion’s P.O.V.I should have killed Demrid when I first saw him around Azlynn. That MF hovered around my mate like a hungry predator, playing the pity game to win her heart. I should have known that his gentle, mature façade was hiding a dark secret. Like, how could a man be so perfect? This was our real world, not fantasy where men worship the very ground a female walked!Every second felt like a century when I waited outside the magical barrier, as Alicia instructed. She had promised me Azlynn was safe in that desolate clearing, which was empty in front of my eyes. And she was right! The moment I broke through the translucent wall, I saw her, my mate, my queen, standing there alive. This sight alone was enough to keep my wolf sane. Zion was overwhelmed with glee as our link was restored, charging at Demrid. “Bella is fine. Let’s crush that bastard’s skull, Xavion.”A fury unlike anything I had ever felt roared inside me, consuming every rational thought. I didn’t see the bl

Azlynn’s P.O.V.Delilah’s eyes shimmered with silver madness, lips curled in that eternal smile of half-truths. She didn’t look like the madwoman I met in the west earlier. My body stayed frozen, paralyzed by the weight of everything crumbling around me. The air hissed as Delilah clicked her tongue. “Master Demrid didn’t die that night. I saved him from the claws of the Alpha king, providing him with what he needed at that time.”She narrated the tale of her mastery, but my breath hitched at the sight of Alicia. My friend, my shield, my witchy companion. But the warmth in her presence was cold now as her aura dampened, her face devoid of the usual spark.“What are you doing here, Alicia? Where is Xavion?”Firing multiple questions in a quick succession, I tried to catch a clue about the outside world. “Why did you come alone?”But instead of Alicia, Delilah twirled a strand of her curly hair and gave a breathy laugh. She stepped forward, like she was performing on a stage.

Azlynn’s P.O.V.“By the right of my blood!”The air snapped with tension as I desperately prayed in my heart. My life and death were dependent on the outcome of my bold decision. I had to take action before his necromancer would come to end this game. Hopefully, in the meantime, Xavion would bring Alicia here to rescue me. That was the immediate plan I made for my family’s survival, and all thanks to my luck, that leech read my mind. He let out a restrained laugh before clutching his chest.“You are quite intelligent. Still waiting for your mate when death is right in front of …”But before he could cook a complete sentence, something invisible blocked his throat, capturing his voice. The earth beneath us trembled, a low vibration, like the world itself holding his breath. And then that cloaked man dropped to one knee as if pulled by strong chains. His hands reaching the hood waltzed my heart in my chest. Bella hopped gleefully.“Finally, it worked, Ann!Now we can direct hi

  • Football Star: The Jerk Alpha's Redemption    Who are you?

Azlynn’s P.O.V.“It’s time for the final sacrifice!”My pulse slammed in my ears as his words echoed through the moonlit veranda. My arms circled Hayley firmly as I shouted.“No! You aren’t touching my daughter!”That cloaked man remained still, watching me like a predator enjoying the panic of his defenseless prey. “She is just a child!” I screamed, shielding Hayley as much as I could. “She has nothing to do with the problems of the adult world.”His black cloak fluttered slightly with the breeze that didn’t exist, tilting his hood slowly. “So quick to protect what isn’t yours.”He mused, voice like velvet stretched over a broken glass. “Heart touching story! You are a good mother, Candice.”Feeling sick to the stomach, I hissed at him. “And you are a monster. A coward, hiding behind magic and lies. And you want to kill a kid now?Shame on you!Even Satan spares the innocent children!”His stillness cracked as he laughed, low and cold, like ice snapping beneath one
