Selene’s POV

I blamed myself for trusting Burke’s words when he told me he had killed Lucas. He was in the palace the previous day to collect the money I had promised to give him.

He swore that he had taken care of Lucas before I agreed to hand over the money to him; I never knew he had an ulterior motive. “That goddam son of a bitch.” I cursed under my breath.

I was pretty sure that the person Damien was referring when he came to inform Darius about him wasn’t the Burke I knew.

Not until I went out of the chambers I with Darius and I saw him standing there with a wicked smile on his face. I couldn’t figure out what he was up to. How could he do that to me?
