Mag-log inThere was something intriguing about Abigail that made Daven restless last night. For one, he had never seen a hybrid that had the audacity she carried. And she was beautiful. He had always been attracted to blondes but she was special. He tossed and turned all night wanting to see her again.
The fact that she worked at the company that should have been his made him angrier. His father had woken up one morning and sold the company without telling him.
By morning, he made up his mind that he was going to see her. If werewolf community was still the way it was before he left, he knew it would be difficult for her to get a transaction card. Since he had ruined hers, he would help her get another.
The moment he stepped into the space she worked, he noticed Ethan, the one who had taken his company from him. He was standing unusually close to her.
He ignored her and walked over to Abigail's side. Abigaill was surprised to see him. After he had completely embarrassed and ridiculed her last night, she wondered why he had come looking for her
Her eyes said it all
Why are you here?
Daven read the words from her eyes. Placing his hand on the table, he leaned forward.
“I'm here to make up for last night,” he said.
Ethan who had been watching Daven as he walked in, wondering if he had come to see him, was astonished when he walked over to Abigail's desk. And even more mortified when he suggested that they had been together the previous night.
“What do you say?” He asked when she didn't respond.
Abigail could tell that Ethan was pissed by the way Daven walked up to her without acknowledging him. And she hadn't missed the tightened tension when Daven spoke about making up for the previous night.
She contemplating over it. Was she really done with Ethan?
His father didn't want her, it was a forbidden love, and he was back to his ex wife. Maybe she could accept Daven's offer to capitalize her stance.
She raised her head from the screen with a smile. “My break is in a few hours,” she said..
“Well…I'll stick around,” Daven said, excited that she had agreed. Even with her hair back in a bun, she still looked absolutely gorgeous. “It's my company after all.”
He threw a rude glance at Ethan before walking out. “See you soon, lady,” he said before exiting.
Ethan was controlling himself from stopping him. He knew Daven was just a young, spoilt wolf. And he wasn't worth his effort. What he wasore concerned about was Abigail. Was she just truly jumping from one wolf to the other, social climbing?
He grabbed the edge of the table until his knuckles turned white.
“You can't keep avoiding a conversation with me, Abigail,” he said.
Abigail faced him with every courage she could muster, because her heart was still racing. At least, it was shielded, as were her eyes.
“I have nothing to talk to you about,” she answered, shifting her eyes back to the monitor. “I have a lot to do.”
Ethan didn't go away. “No, you don't. And we must have this conversation.”
Seeing he wasn't going to go, Abigail knew that day had come. The day she was going to ask him why he had been nice to her only to break her heart.
She swiveled around in her chair and faced him fully. “Now that you want to talk…why, Ethan?”
Ethan nodded. He understood her hurt. And now he understood that she had been avoiding him become of his father.
“It's not what you think, Abigail,” he explained. “I misunderstood things.”
A bitter chuckle escaped from her mouth. “You misunderstand and next thing, you're back to your ex and having a kid together.” She pursed her lips. “I can only say I wish you all the happiness. I thought what we shared meant something to you.”
“It does, Abigail. And I'm losing my goddamned mind without you.”
She shook her head bitterly. “You were in the city, Ethan. You never came to check up on me after what I went through. The next day I come to work only to be assaulted by your new girlfriend.”
“She's not my…” Ethan tightened his jaw and sighed. “I'm not together with Bianca.”
“But she has your baby. Aren't you going to be responsible for it?_
Even as she said it, it hurt her that she wasnythe one carrying his baby. She had envisioned a perfect life with him. One that no hybrid dared to dream. And maybe fate had punished her for daring to dream.
Ethan didn't want to answer the question. He knew that was the one thing that would slice them apart. How could be explain to her that he'd had sex with Bianca because he was mad at her and now he wanted her back even though Bianca was claiming that she was pregnant?
“I want to fix us,” he said with a low but steady voice. “I've missed you. We used to say a smile would sort all our problems.”.
Abigail sniffed back her tears. “This is different. You can't sort it.”
Ethan was drawn to the shades she wore. It was strange that she wore shades in the office. He knew asking her would get nothing from her. So, he was determined to find out why. He leaned forward and it that instant, Abigail stopped breathing. His face was inching nearing hers and all she wanted was to kiss him and reconcile.
Do it. Don't do it.
She shut her eyes, waiting for his lips against her. But she felt her shades being pulled from her face.
She opened her eyes, bewildered. Ethan stared at her face in shock.
“What happened to you, Abigail?”
Ethan took Abigail's hand.“I really want to show you in every way that you're my choice,” he said. “So, I'll stay with you tonight.”“And tomorrow?” She asked, teasingly. “Every other night…till forever.”It felt good hearing that. Ethan figured he would deal with Bianca's problem by morning of the next day. He was so sure that she wasn't pregnant and after the test result had confirmed that, his would send her away, a mistake he wouldn't make again. He pulled her to himself, just to taste the sweetness of her lips. “I've missed doing this,” he confessed. “I've missed your laughs. You have no idea.”Abigail slapped his chest with mock annoyance. “You left me all alone.”He wrapped her with his arms. “I'm sorry, my pigeon.”“Pigeon.”“‘cause you're cute and smallish.”Abigail smiled. “It was you, wasn't it? The person who did my job.”“Stayed all night for you.”Her smile widened. Then she raised her head. “Oh my gosh! It was you. You sent me that money.”Ethan didn't affirm but hi
Bianca's heart had been racing erratically ever since Ethan requested for a proof of pregnancy, and worse, Alex, his over keen assistant was right there with her to ensure she didn't doctor the result. She sat there, hoping for an escape. If Ethan found out that her pregnancy claim was a lie, he would be mad at her deception and lock her out. She played with her fingers nervously while Alex sat there, waiting for her to go in. He had received clear instructions from his boss to follow through the process. And seeing how nervous she was, he knew she was hiding something. But for the life of him, he would never understand why his boss had decided to go back to his ex wife. Alpha Ethan had been barely alive until he found Abigail. He had seen how much he changed and he didn't care about the age difference. And the past few days without her had been torturous for him.He could never understand Alpha Ethan.“Why are you here anyway?” Bianca barked at him. “Isn't Ethan coming?”She was des
Ethan held her hand and moved dangerously close to her. She felt his warm breath against her ears. It spoke of burning desires, a call that awakened hers. But Abigail wanted so badly to resist, yet, she wanted more badly to give in, to forget about everything even for the moment and fall into the arms of the man she was still obviously in love with. “Why are you doing this to me —to us?” Ethan's voice, laced with deep desire, croaked into her ear.She shut her eyes and held her breath. With him so close, it was difficult to decide, to remain angry, or to say no.She moaned with need. Even her body couldn't deny that she missed him, and more than ever, she wanted him, yet there and now.Ethan took cue from her moan and found her lips. They crashed into each other, each touch, a reminder of the passion they ignited in one another and a testament that they were meant for each other. Abigail didn't remember Bianca and her pregnancy and Ethan didn't think of Daven and what relationship h
It was too late for regrets, Abigail knew that. So she didn't apologise. She glared at him like how she wished she could glare at every wolf who had called her a hybrid or looked down on her. He was bearing the brunt because he couldn't mind his business.Despite the gravity of her words and the way it made him feel initially, Daven realised he wasn't really mad. It soothed him, strangely.Wasn't it the truth?Besides, he had never had never had anyone speak to him that way. Even abroad, the ladies always kept their thoughts to themselves because of what they could gain from him. And back here, he was the Alpha's son.“You insulted me first,” Abigail declared. “Do you not realise it? You don't respect my decision because I am a hybrid.”Daven nodded. She was right. He had overstepped. He started the car and took the opposite lane, returning back to the office. Abigail didn't want this ride home. She didn't want to be in the space of someone who constantly ridiculed her existence. Wa
It was a relief to Abigail. For one, she had thought she had been set up. And she really needed a new card after Daven rudely broke hers. She was actually on her last cent and she knew how excruciatingly difficult it was to get a card at the bank.Well, unless your blood screamed pure wolf. She could afford to frown now.“You made me beg for nothing.”It was infuriating being around someone who enjoyed making fun of others. But for now, Abigail kept her cool. She needed him to help her sort her card issues. After then, she would tell him to stay the hell away from her. She wasn't a hybrid that needed some pure wolf’s shadow to navigate her way around. She had been doing just fine before every one of them.Daven chuckled and led the way. “I didn't know you had a tear in you,” he said as he turned towards the bank. He owed Abigail a new card. But that was now really the reason he had decided to help her. Truth was, he couldn't stop thinking about her and desiring to hold her. And his
Daven held the steering, feeling proud. He had the woman he wanted, seated beside him. And even though her face was moulded into a scowl, a win was a win.Abigail sat quietly, wondering where Daven was taking her to. The day was bright and a public place was a huge no. She didn't want to be in another scandal. Mia had told her straight. She would abandon her. She couldn't even survive another scandal, being looked at as she walked the street and hated by even the unloved - the hybrids. She faced Daven. “Lunch break is thirty minutes,” she reminded him. He probably had never worked, she thought. And had no regard for time. “Where are you taking me to?”Daven flashed a smile that grated on her nerves. “Chill. Will ya? And don't worry, it's my company. No one can sack you.”“It's not yours if you're not CEO,” she shot quietly. She understood boys like Daven. Always having things done for them their whole life and even too lazy right now as a grown adult to reason with their brains. The
