Abigail could see his red cheek and wondered if Ethan had hit him there and why the hell he did that. From the corner of her eyes, she saw Mia watching with bated breath.
Then, she smiled.
“Thank you, Daven, “ she said. “This means a lot to me.”
She flashed a reassuring smile towards Mia. No, she wasn't getting hooked up by a pure wolf.
She could hear Mia cursing even as her faced played quiet and innocent.
She glanced at Daven's outstretched hand and smiled again. Then she moved forward..
Presently, he was the last person she wanted to talk to..last night, he had made a ridicule of her only for her to find out that he's Alpha Makael's son. Besides, she knew what his father would do to her if she's caught with him. The more reason she frowned her face the moment she was out of Mia's view.
She stopped and folded her arms. “Why are you here?” She demanded.
Daven, challenged by her audacity and ethereal beauty, smiled despite the anger simmering in his blood earlier from Ethan's attack. It had just been a blow but his cheeks still hurt.
“Like I said…to make it up to you,” he answered. “Lunch?”
Abigail frowned. “No. Thanks.”
When he saw Ethan approaching, he pulled her towards himself, daring he could do anything he wanted. “You'll need it,” he said.
Abigail hadn't seen him and she pushed herself off him with a strict warning. “Don't you ever do that again,” she warned.
But when she saw Ethan approaching, fire dancing in his eyes, she grabbed Daven's hand and spoke tooth in cheek. “Let's go.”
She held her breath as he approached. Ethan was a walking master piece. Mia had been right this morning, she knew. And she knew better because she had seen him naked. It was no wonder he could summon his ex wife and the next day she was having his babies.
Not her though. She admitted he was breathtakingly handsome but she wasn't stupid.
So she held her head high even though her heart was beating erratically, and walked past him like she hadn't noticed him.
Ethan grew irritated. He wanted to give up and let her be.
She's a social climber, he told himself. But when he arrived in his office, he found himself overlooking the car pack through his and wondering why Abigail was getting involved with Daven.
“Is she doing it to get me jealous?” He muttered to himself. He sat down restless. “It's working because I can't stop thinking about her.”
There was Bianca in the way. He had to find a way of sorting out the mess with Bianca. After seeing her stab herself over an argument, he was certain that he needed her far away from him
He swivelled in his chair, lost in thought. He couldn't stop thinking about Abigail. Daven's words echoed in his head. He had said he would make her moan and cry in pleasure.
Had they fucked…and were they…?
He bolted from his chair and dashed to the window, half expecting to see Daven's car packed there, jumping from the rigorous activity going on inside, but the spot was vacant. A sigh of relief escaped his mouth and he returned to his chair, trying to focus on how to deal with the pregnancy Bianca claimed she had.
He grabbed his phone and dialed Alex.
“I need you to go to Frey’s Medical,” he instructed him. “Bianca is there. She must do a test to confirm if she's pregnant and you'll get back to me as soon as possible. Understood?”
“Yes, Alpha,” he heard Alex respond.
The call ended with a click but his thoughts didn't. He pictured Abigail, naked, in bed with Daven, and his wolf growled, and his blood burned.
He didn't even realise when he dialed her number. He waited for a connection, to hear her phone ringing. But he realised she had blocked him.
“Fuck!”
He flung the phone, waiting as the minutes passed. Lunch break was thirty minutes but this thirty minutes felt like an eternity. And he made up his mind that he was going reconcile with Abigail as soon as she returned, pushing his ego aside.
It was his fault. It was because of him Pa Frey had threatened her. And he hadn't checked up on her after the accident she suffered because of his son. Only to be shocked with news that he was expecting a son with his ex wife.
And he knew just the right way to get her feeling less upset again. He stood up, determined that it was going to work. Abigail loved flowers and dark chocolate. And most especially, she loved roses. So, she got two bunches. And a basket full of her favourite chocolates. He was smiling like a man that had won the lottery.
Hell, he was still very much in love with her. And he had told his father not to get involved. He didn't even care what the other wolves thought. He was going to get married to her. It was forbidden to the society but love was meant to be boundless, reckless and spontaneous. That was what he felt with Abigail. She awoke his youth in a way he hadn't felt in a long time.
Abigail was special. He had known that since that evening when he took her in his car and she trusted him like he was a man from her dream. And when he had touched her, he had known they were meant for each other, hybrid or not.
Thirty minutes went by and Abigail had not returned. And forty minutes went by. He stared at the clock frowning. His wolf was in his head, pacing, growling angrily and worried.
“Maybe she enjoys him better than you.”
He stared at the rose flower and box of chocolates. “She enjoys no one better than me,” he muttered. “Add tonight, I'll be making her remember the very reason why she fell in love with me.” It was a promise he intended not to break.
Ethan took Abigail's hand.“I really want to show you in every way that you're my choice,” he said. “So, I'll stay with you tonight.”“And tomorrow?” She asked, teasingly. “Every other night…till forever.”It felt good hearing that. Ethan figured he would deal with Bianca's problem by morning of the next day. He was so sure that she wasn't pregnant and after the test result had confirmed that, his would send her away, a mistake he wouldn't make again. He pulled her to himself, just to taste the sweetness of her lips. “I've missed doing this,” he confessed. “I've missed your laughs. You have no idea.”Abigail slapped his chest with mock annoyance. “You left me all alone.”He wrapped her with his arms. “I'm sorry, my pigeon.”“Pigeon.”“‘cause you're cute and smallish.”Abigail smiled. “It was you, wasn't it? The person who did my job.”“Stayed all night for you.”Her smile widened. Then she raised her head. “Oh my gosh! It was you. You sent me that money.”Ethan didn't affirm but hi
Bianca's heart had been racing erratically ever since Ethan requested for a proof of pregnancy, and worse, Alex, his over keen assistant was right there with her to ensure she didn't doctor the result. She sat there, hoping for an escape. If Ethan found out that her pregnancy claim was a lie, he would be mad at her deception and lock her out. She played with her fingers nervously while Alex sat there, waiting for her to go in. He had received clear instructions from his boss to follow through the process. And seeing how nervous she was, he knew she was hiding something. But for the life of him, he would never understand why his boss had decided to go back to his ex wife. Alpha Ethan had been barely alive until he found Abigail. He had seen how much he changed and he didn't care about the age difference. And the past few days without her had been torturous for him.He could never understand Alpha Ethan.“Why are you here anyway?” Bianca barked at him. “Isn't Ethan coming?”She was des
Ethan held her hand and moved dangerously close to her. She felt his warm breath against her ears. It spoke of burning desires, a call that awakened hers. But Abigail wanted so badly to resist, yet, she wanted more badly to give in, to forget about everything even for the moment and fall into the arms of the man she was still obviously in love with. “Why are you doing this to me —to us?” Ethan's voice, laced with deep desire, croaked into her ear.She shut her eyes and held her breath. With him so close, it was difficult to decide, to remain angry, or to say no.She moaned with need. Even her body couldn't deny that she missed him, and more than ever, she wanted him, yet there and now.Ethan took cue from her moan and found her lips. They crashed into each other, each touch, a reminder of the passion they ignited in one another and a testament that they were meant for each other. Abigail didn't remember Bianca and her pregnancy and Ethan didn't think of Daven and what relationship h
It was too late for regrets, Abigail knew that. So she didn't apologise. She glared at him like how she wished she could glare at every wolf who had called her a hybrid or looked down on her. He was bearing the brunt because he couldn't mind his business.Despite the gravity of her words and the way it made him feel initially, Daven realised he wasn't really mad. It soothed him, strangely.Wasn't it the truth?Besides, he had never had never had anyone speak to him that way. Even abroad, the ladies always kept their thoughts to themselves because of what they could gain from him. And back here, he was the Alpha's son.“You insulted me first,” Abigail declared. “Do you not realise it? You don't respect my decision because I am a hybrid.”Daven nodded. She was right. He had overstepped. He started the car and took the opposite lane, returning back to the office. Abigail didn't want this ride home. She didn't want to be in the space of someone who constantly ridiculed her existence. Wa
It was a relief to Abigail. For one, she had thought she had been set up. And she really needed a new card after Daven rudely broke hers. She was actually on her last cent and she knew how excruciatingly difficult it was to get a card at the bank.Well, unless your blood screamed pure wolf. She could afford to frown now.“You made me beg for nothing.”It was infuriating being around someone who enjoyed making fun of others. But for now, Abigail kept her cool. She needed him to help her sort her card issues. After then, she would tell him to stay the hell away from her. She wasn't a hybrid that needed some pure wolf’s shadow to navigate her way around. She had been doing just fine before every one of them.Daven chuckled and led the way. “I didn't know you had a tear in you,” he said as he turned towards the bank. He owed Abigail a new card. But that was now really the reason he had decided to help her. Truth was, he couldn't stop thinking about her and desiring to hold her. And his
Daven held the steering, feeling proud. He had the woman he wanted, seated beside him. And even though her face was moulded into a scowl, a win was a win.Abigail sat quietly, wondering where Daven was taking her to. The day was bright and a public place was a huge no. She didn't want to be in another scandal. Mia had told her straight. She would abandon her. She couldn't even survive another scandal, being looked at as she walked the street and hated by even the unloved - the hybrids. She faced Daven. “Lunch break is thirty minutes,” she reminded him. He probably had never worked, she thought. And had no regard for time. “Where are you taking me to?”Daven flashed a smile that grated on her nerves. “Chill. Will ya? And don't worry, it's my company. No one can sack you.”“It's not yours if you're not CEO,” she shot quietly. She understood boys like Daven. Always having things done for them their whole life and even too lazy right now as a grown adult to reason with their brains. The
