POV Samatha

I barely sleep

I lay in bed remembering Kyle’s kiss, playing it over and over again in my head.

The memory brings me both pleasure and pain.

I want to run far away. From this nightmare. However, I’m stuck frozen, curled in a ball, replaying a bad dream. Like an addicted just wanted to be loved.

My wolf speaks to me.

“Our mate is downstairs. You should go talk to him.”

“Shut up! You're not the boss of me! You didn’t support me in my time of need. You don’t even have a name! You're just a useless voice in the background.”

I hear a sudden loud growl, vibrated though me and it startles me.

“My name is Gabriel. I am a warrior!” She growls. “Kyle is only our first chance, mate. You will become a warrior as well and eventually we will need to leave this pack and one day find our second chance, mate.” She says in my head.

“I am no warrior. Kids, cooking and taking care of my man. Is all I want. I don’t want my father's infidelities in the past to ruin my family. They need to remain buried. I have to play ball until I find a way out that won’t hurt my family.”

“Your making excuses Samatha. Kyle is only thinking about himself. Your family will be fine.”

“You can’t guarantee they will be fine. I’ve known Kyle for a long time. Eventually, he will get a handle on his wolf and will reject me or leave Melanie.”

“Then there is nothing I can do for you until you desire more than to be a slave for a man that will never love you.”

I hear my mom call me to come downstairs.

I don’t want to move, I need the support of my wolf. Nobody said having a wolf would be this hard.

I desend the the stairs slowly.

Kyle is sitting at the table like he already owns me.

My whole family is sitting there.

Disappointment in their faces.

I stand in front of them waiting my fate

“Is it true Sam?” my father yells, "Did you throw yourself at the alpha, like some slut?"

“No, father!” I cry, "He is my mate. He kissed me!”

“Samatha, you are not my mate. You threw yourself at me today and offered to be my mistress. I decided to be kind. Your obsession with me has no limits.

“What? I’m not ….”

“Samatha! My father growls “Go pack your stuff. Your moving to the pack house. You are no longer my daughter you belong to Kyle now.

Kyle smiles, “You will work in the pack house in the kitchen. You will cook and clean with the rest of the omegas, and do everything I request of you. Now do as your told and pack your stuff. The omegas will be her shortly to collect your things.” He orders in his alpha tone then leaves.

I slowly start walking up the stairs litening to my father yell.

“To say I’m disappointed in you is an understatement, Samatha. I will not be associated with you or the shame you have brought to this family,” my father says angrily.

I start crying uncontrollably while packing all my favourite things. All the reminders of before today of what a wonderful life I had.

The moon goddess clearly hates me.

I grab my favourite heart necklace my sister Lily gave me for my 16th birthday, and put it on.

I finish packing.

I put my head down while tears stream down my face and I walk downstairs and passed my parents and out of there life.

I get outside and look at the beautiful house I grew up in. All the wonderful memories of my childhood pour through me. I push it all down and start to walk to the pack house.

Melanie steps in my way.

“Hi Melanie,” I say, happy to have someone to talk about my wolf and everything that has gone wrong with today. However, when I look up at her. The look on her face scares me. I can tell this is not the same person I grew up with, that I spent endless summers at the beach house. Making sand castles and drinking cherry Kool-aid.

“Slut!” she says, "How dare kiss kyle! How dare you whore yourself out to my betrothed! I thought you were my friend. You're nothing but a lying whore! That is all you will be to me now.”

“I should have you thrown in the dungeon for this betrayal.” She goes to slap me and Gabriel stops her. “You have your wolf?” She looks at me, surprised, and runs off.

I’m completely shocked. This is not what I expected. I wanted to explain myself, but she didn’t give me the chance. I lower my head like the slave I now am and head to the pack house.

The head omega is waiting for me at the front door. She introduces herself as Amanda.

She directs me to my new room in the basement. It has a single bed, and the room looks like a tornado ran through it.

Nothing works properly, it is cold and smelly. The sink leaks, and when I try the bath, it makes a god awful sound, and dirty, smelly water runs through the tap.

I feel like the happiness is being sucked out of me. I want to fall down on the floor and cry my eyes out, but I don’t. Pushing it all down, I take a big breath. I will not let this defeat me. I am better than all this.
