05: Wedding Plans

CHRISTY:

“You know what? Why don’t we choose somewhere where we can talk freely?” Everette suggested while looking somewhere else except me.

Talk anywhere? And where the heck was that? I no longer trusted this man.

I shook my head. “No. I like it here.”

“Here?”

“Why? Is there something wrong with this place?”

He was about to say something but stopped.

“Why don’t you answer my question, Mr. Watson?”

A smile slowly spread across his face, making my heart jump.

Damn.

I did not like seeing his smiles causing my heart to flip like crazy. Whenever he smiled, it looked like the world brightened.

“If you cannot give me the answer, then I won’t be—”

“What do you want to hear?” he inquired, cutting off my words.

“The truth. What else?” I asked with a dah gone.

“What will you get from this business marriage? Hmm. Of course, you will be having a husband like me. Handsome. Powerful. Rich.”

“You’re too full of yourself.”

“I'm plainly telling the truth.”

Well, he had a point. He was indeed handsome, powerful, and rich. Back when we were exchanging messages, I could sense that he was handsome despite showing the lower half part of his face. If I should have known I was exchanging messages with him, then I would have forced him to unveil his face.

“You want to ask what I will get from you? Your family name. I can make use of that. Your family is still widely known in the business world. Your parents had a lot of connections which would be beneficial to me in the long run.”

A muscle in my neck ticked.

He never even bothered to hide that he would only use me in the end.

Isn't it only fair? Your parents used his money and now he will be using you, of course.

“That's true. And what do you want me in return?”

I had no plans of submitting myself to him. If it comes to a point that I had no choice but to marry him, then I would make sure that he will regret marrying me and meeting me for the second time.

“Be the obedient wife that I needed. Cook for me. Pretend that you love me when I will be taking a lot of interviews. Take care of all my needs. I mean all my needs,” he explained and wiggled my eyebrows. I inhaled deeply upon realizing what he was talking about. “I’m sure you understand what I mean. Be my trophy wife, Christina.”

A trophy wife. Someone who will act all beautiful and kind. A puppet.

“That means you also wanted me to appease your sexual needs.”

“Precisely. You will be my wife or would you rather take me someone else in your stead?”

The wind blew hard and my hair danced with them. Putting the stray strands of hair beside my ears.

Everette taking another woman except me?

The thought made my blood boil in anger.

I gritted my teeth as I envisioned myself cutting Everette's dick.

Everette snapped his fingers in front of my face, grabbing my attention. “Earth to Christina. Focus on our conversation and not on my face.”

I averted my gaze as I realized I was indeed looking at his face.

Why would I act like I was embarrassed? No, freaking way!

I returned my gaze to him.

“You know what? You need two people in your life. A maid and a slut.”

“A maid and a slut?”

He laughed out loud which I never thought he could not do. The women who saw him sighed as if they were in love while I only waited until when he would stop.

I did not know if I was willing to be an obedient wife when all I could think of as I saw him was my annoyance and hatred towards him. He never stopped looking for me and I did not believe he did not know that I was the one whom he was chatting with on Swiped.

“Why look for two when I could have you?”

“You cannot have me.” I wouldn't fall for him again, right? I could fall for any man, but not Everette Watson. I just did not want it to happen. “I don't fuck someone who does not deserve me.”

His expression turned serious.

“I cannot?” He shrugged off his shoulders. “Then kiss your parents goodbye. A couple of days from now, your family’s name will be in a tabloid with all the scandals your family has got into.”

My fist trembled.

“You’re blackmailing us.” Another reason why I hated him. He kept on acting as if the world would always bow to him including the people around him.

And when Everette blackmailed, he had the power to make them all true. He had the money and connections while our family already lost them. Or started losing. We were under his mercy.

I agreed that I was also the black sheep of the family. My parents did not know how to love their children, but as their child, this was the least I could do for them for spending some of their fortunes on me.

Are you sure? Or are you only scared that your Mom will do what she threatened you? Of killing themselves?

Mom could also do what she threatened.

I felt suffocated. Why did I have to be in the middle of them? All I wanted was to marry someone like Poppy. Someone who loved me for who I was?

“No. I only want my money back. That’s my money. If you have the means to give it back to me, then do it. End of discussion. But if you don’t have one, you have to sacrifice yourself.”

I bit the inside of my cheeks. How could we repay Everette that fast when our family was drowning in debt? And Dad was also taking his bed rest.

Brother. How could you leave me like this?

Did you not take your time, Christy when you left your family a couple of years ago? It’s time to do your obligation no matter how cruel it was.

“Your silence is enough for me to know your answer.” Everette pocketed his hand. “Prepare yourself for our wedding. I want you to be  the loveliest bride.”

The press would be there. Everyone will witness that Everette Watson has married me. I will be subject to their judgment and no matter what I do, they will never approve me as Everette’s wife. He looked so perfect while I…

I was cornered and was left with nothing else but to accept what I should have done a few years ago—to marry Everette Watson.

Fine.

If I have no choice, then what choice do I have but to marry this monkey?

“I will marry you.”

Everette smiled wider. “That’s what I am waiting for, my future wife. Why does it take you too long?”

I attempted to puke. “Don’t ever call me that again. It’s disgusting.”

“You’re my property now,” he said with a serious expression on his face. I did not understand this man. Sometimes, he was smiling. But sometimes, he would become so serious that it was scary.

Using his fingers, he lifted my chin and forced me to look at him.

“You're mine now.”

The hair on my hands stood.

I slapped his hands away and stepped backward.

“Don’t you dare treat me as your property, because I am not. You listen, Everette. I may have agreed to your wedding proposal but know that I won’t ever love you or I will give my body. You will never have a taste of me. Salivate all you want, but you can never have me.”

The corner of his lips lifted and scanned my body hungrily.

Fuck.

“Are you sure about that? As far as my memory is concerned, you nearly sent nude pictures when we were messaging each other,” he taunted.

I felt my cheeks burning as I remembered what I had done. It was because of his side face pictures and the chiseled abs he sent me that I wanted to return the favor. If he didn't stop me, I would be sending him those pictures and if I did, I did not know if I could face him like this.

My mouth opened and closed. “T-That was only a prank t-to test your personality! I want to know if you are an asshole or not.”

“Like your ex-boyfriends?” he pressed. “I know all their names.”

My eyes bulged. “You did not…”

“Yes, I did. I told you already. I asked someone to look for you. He failed, but now that I found you, I never said he stopped checking for some background information.”

Dammit.

Did he know about Poppy and Kelly?

I did not want to involve them in this mess. Poppy would always back me up. And if Poppy was involved, Sebastian Holding would be too.

Damn it. Why was I entangled in this mess?

“Everette. I am warning you. Stop whatever you are planning.”

A knowing smile was painted on his lips. “What plan are you talking about?”

“All your evil plans.”

“Christina. You failed to recall that I am a businessman and not some mafia. I don’t have an evil plan. Do not taint my good name,” he declared acting hurt.

What an actor. He would be hired as one if he had plans to enter showbiz.

If I happened to know that he was asking someone to follow Poppy and her daughter, Everette would regret that he answered my messages when we were on Swiped.

“Whatever. You cannot be trusted. If you want me this badly, I will give it to you.”

“Good.”

“I want our wedding tomorrow and I will be choosing our marriage officiants.”

His brows knitted together. “Tomorrow? That’s not possible. We need to prepare a lot for this wedding. The rest of my family and investors will be attending. This will be the wedding of the century. I will also invite all the actors and actresses in Mollywood.”

That was the kind of wedding he had in mind? That would cost a lot and he was willing to spend his fortunes over someone whom he did not even love?
