A Memory

Amelia jerks backwards due to the hunter's strong dislike of her. Even though she should have expected as much, she couldn’t quite shake the pain she felt toward it.

"I will once you’ve calmed down," she says slowly, trying to keep her voice neutral. "But you should really try to relax, as your injuries could reopen."

When the hunter was brought back with Amelia and the others, he was sporting deep scratches along his stomach and arms, all of which needed to be stitched up to keep him from bleeding out.

"I promise once you’re healed enough, you will be released, and we will disappear."

"Disappear?" the hunter repeats, rage flashing in his eyes. "Like hell, that will happen! Do you know how long I’ve waited for the moment we met again so that I could take your life with my own hands?"

Giving a sad smile, Amelia simply shook her head.

"You’ll have to get in line for that, I’m afraid."
