Ethan’s POV

I know Serene has to put in a lot of work before Talia starts calling her mom because she thinks crystal is her mom but crystal is a sick lady who was thrown out of my house. She’s nothing to me, and I’d never like her anymore.

She thinks she can survive without me in her life, but I’m going to make her life miserable.

Hurting her was all I could think about while driving to the courthouse. I wanted to see my lawyer and speak to him about the divorce because it’s only right that I impose more fines on her and leave her drowning in debts that she can’t pay.

“Where’s Judge Johnson?” I asked the man who stood in my way of going into the courtroom to see the judge.

“What do you want?” He replied rudely, trying to put his hands on my suit. He doesn’t know how much it costs, hence he’s trying to touch it.

“I’d like to see him, let him know it’s Ethan Anderson. He knows who I am.” I explained to the man standing at the gate,e stopping me from going into the courthouse.

I could tell he was handling a case, which is why the officer couldn’t let me into the courthouse. I was asked to sit in the reception hall and wait for his call.

“You walk in here looking for Judge Johnson. He’s one of the elites; only important people can see him. I don’t know if you’re even going to see him.” I was shocked when the man sitting close to me spoke to me about Judge Johnson.

I wanted to meet him so he’d rule the divorce in my favor and impose those fines on her and let her rot in misery and debts.

“Do you think I’m part of the middle class? I’m way above you; I’m up here, and you’re down here.” I had to put that man in his place for trying to direct me. He thinks I’m part of his people. I don’t belong to the middle class; I’ve had a lot of ups and downs, but that doesn’t make me poor.

“I’d like to see how you’d walk past this line to see Judge Johnson. They all want to see him.”

“They all want to see him. Judge Johnson is going to see me before every one of you, and trust me, I don’t need any interferences.”

“Let’s see how it goes.” He chuckled as Judge Johnson stepped out of the court to attend to people, le but I was shocked that he went straight to meet a man who was standing with a lady.

Looking closely at the man, I realized it was Kieran. I wished he knew how much I hated him.

“Judge Johnson. How’re you doing?” I chimedin, trying to interrupt their conversation, but I was shocked that he didn’t even look at me.

“Kieran, you don’t need to fight over that case. If the land is settled to be yours, there won’t be a need to dig up gold, besides, since they don’t know the quantity,y and their research results are inconclusive.” Judge Johnson continued speaking to Kieran.

They both acted like I wasn’t there, like I was an object that they missed.

“Judge Johnson!” I called his attention, stopping Kieran from saying another word.

“What do you want, Ethan? You’ve got a wife and daughter at home to take care of. Why are you here?” Kieran mocked me in front of the other people waiting at the reception hall. I was shocked that Kieran just walked in and got the attention of the judge, but I was made to sit in the reception hall.

“My lawyer was supposed to speak to you. I don’t know if he’s done that.”

“Right now, my hands are full,l and I’m booked until I’m done with the man standing right here. Let’s go to my office.” Judge Johnson led Kieran and his lady to his office. At this point, I knew that I had failed in getting what I wanted.

“What did I tell you?”

“Don’t fucking say a word.” I snapped before leaving the man who warned me against going to him.

I got into my car and stomped my foot on the steering wheel repeatedly. I was infuriated and pissed as to why he’d do that to me.

Just then, my phone started beeping. I turned on the screen and read the words, Jada.

“How did the meeting go?” She inquired as I listened to the voice of Talia giggling. I knew only two things could make her laugh like that, crystal and her favorite cartoon.

“Kieran stole my spotlight and mocked me right before the judge. It feels so disheartening.” I placed my phone on the dashboard so I could put my seatbelt and leave this place.

“You don’t need to worry much about it because you can always find someone else to help you with the case, right?” Serene doesn’t know why I want Judge Johnson on my side in this divorce case.

I want him to give me the win and also leave Crystall with I choice other than to work for me until she’s capable of paying all that she owes.

“I wanted Judge Johnson because he’s one of the most respected judges. Every lawyer out there is scared of him, so whoever she brings to the table would be scared to defend him; that’s what I want.”

“We don’t always get what we want, but we always create our own path. If Judge Johnson isn’t available, find someone close to him that can be gullible and use that as an edge over her, despite it not being solid like the one you wanted.” She advised,

“Have you had breakfast?” The moment I asked the question, I heard her footstep,s which could only mean she was leaving the space she shared with Tal, whether it be the living room, her room, or our bedroom.

“Yes, we had salad. She loved it, but she said Crystal's meals tasted better. Talia said those words to me.” Serene wasn’t happy.

“I’m sure she doesn’t mean them, she’s just a child.” I tried to calm her nerves, but she sprouted;

“She’s my child, and yet she doesn’t know that. I shouldn’t have let her train my daughter.”

“Mistakes that can’t be corrected. With time,e she’ll come around.” I had to keep it that way, make her believe that she can continue trying to convince Talia to love her as a daughter would love her mother.

An awkward silence crept between us before she broke it.

“What happens if she doesn’t?”

Crystal POVI downed the entire contents of the first cup and filled my second cup, repeating the same act not because I wanted to get drunk. I hated that she used us for the promotion of her book without giving us any payment. The sales of her book are going to go way up, but I hope it’s worth the hype. I checked out the new stocks before he even told me about that; if only he knew how attracted I am to new stocks.“What’s wrong?”“It’s been a while, and you know how much it takes to be what you are right now, but giving her that promotion on a free platter seems too kind.”“You know I can’t let you have a third cup; we’ve still got a long day ahead of us…” He stopped immediately when someone knocked on the door.“Mr. Kieran.”“Who are you and what do you want?” I asked, belching afterward, before turning my eyes to her; he signaled me to go sit down behind my table. He figured out that the wine’s effects had started showing.“Well, we heard of the benefits you’re giving us, the owne

Kieran POVWe couldn’t finish all of it, so we left it for the guards to take it back home for their use. crystal wore a suspicious look on her face, still thinking about what happened inside the cafe.“You think so much about the past. Don’t hold that in your mind because it has no value; you’d be carrying a burden that’s not meant for you.” I advised her before ushering her into the back of the truck.“I felt so nervous watching you speak to another lady, and I hate that feeling.” She confessed before turning her eyes back to her phone.I thought about Lyra’s friend and the review she asked me to make to support her book and make it a good read for everyone. She wants the media to promote her work, and I have no choice because I’d have to keep my word.We arrived at the office, and she was standing there, looking frustrated.“I thought we had a deal.”“Come with us, Olivia. There’s no reason to cause a fuss because it’s not worth it; you want a review? Then follow us.” Lyra spoke to

Crystal POV I never expected Kieran to act like that. He pushed the man away like he was trying to take something very valuable from him. He was only having a conversation, and the moment he tried to touch me, I saw the man on the ground and Kieran dragging me to the car. He agreed to stop at the cafe because he was famished, as I was. Treating ourselves to a breakfast treat isn’t a bad idea. “Why are you both staying back beside the SUV?” I asked as they got out, but didn’t want to walk with us. “Come with us, get a table, and order what you want. He’s going to pay.” I chuckled, acting like I never knew he was still pissed. While getting seated, his phone was beeping with calls, and I wondered why. I checked the schedules and realized we had no meetings today, so why would the receptionist be calling?“What’s wrong?”“Ma, there’s a woman here by the name Olivia, she’s saying that our boss has to send a review of her book to the press, and he hasn’t done that. She’s pissed, but I

Kieran POv When we arrived at the courthouse, I was relieved that there were no reporters at the entrance of the courthouse. I noticed that Lyra’s countenance changed the moment she got out of the SUV. She quickly wrapped the scarf around her head and her face, leaving only her eyes visible to the public. No one would joke that she’s the one. I figured she did that because of the reporters. “Go in there and let Judge Johnson know that we’re here to see him. Enso Blackwood is the name you’d give to him.”“Other people are waiting to see him.”“Do I look like other people? Do what you’re told, or my guards will help you do your job.” He agreed to my request because he knows that if my guard stormed into the courtroom, it would cause a little chaos, and he might lose his job in respect to that. “Wait here.” He walked into the courtroom slowly while I kept my eyes around and turned to the reception hallway, where the guard mentioned people were waiting to see Judge Johnson. Ethan wa

Kieran POVI had to adjust myself before heading down to the dining table. My father, his beta, and Lyra were already seated without me.“Apple stew?” I was shocked that someone actually made this. No one makes better apple stew than my late mother. I ate in silence as we all did; my father didn’t say a word, and I knew why he was doing this. He didn’t want us to talk about Valeria in front of his Beta and Lyra. Why would I talk about a woman I don’t love? After the meal, Lyra went to bed and didn’t say a word to me. She dozed off in my arms, and I woke up in the morning to discover that she wasn’t in bed with me. “Lyra,” I called her name, but heard no response. I got up from bed, stretched out my arms, and got into the washroom,m but she wasn’t there. I wondered if she had left the house. I was surprised to see her running back into the house through the front gate. She went for an early morning run to wherever, and she got me worried at some point.Lyra has never woken up to

Ethan’s POV I drove to one of the city's largest law firms to see my lawyer. He’s an old friend of mine, and keeping him by my side through this divorce is the best way to keep that ugly urchin in check. “Barrister Smith. How’re you doing?”“What are you doing here?”“I’m here because of the divorce,e and you know we have to make it a lot harder for her to make her work for me,” I explained to him, watching his hand grasp for the bottle of whiskey. I stopped to observe him for a while, then noticed he was drunk and had a picture on his phone. “What’s wrong, Barrister?” I inquired as he was about to grab his pho,ne but I stopped him and wondered why he’d be drinking whiskey at this time of the day.“Come on, what’s going on here?”“I’ve been a divorce attorney for more than a decade, enjoying a happy married life,e and now I’m going through my own divorce.” I was shocked when he turned his phone screen so I could see a video of his wife and another man on a boat cruise. “You’re ab
